Kanye West

A lot of it actually IS real Hip-Hop, a good lot of it seems to be pandering to fans of different regions and different genres (trying to be all things to all people)...but even after all the hoopla of the past few weeks, it is a dope album (better than College Dropout, that's for damn sure), and if I bump into a vinyl copy, it will be part of the crates. If any folks would like to hear it, just PM me.

I just got home. I bought it. Excellent so far, got up to track 5, kept repeating track 4... "Now I ain't sayin' she a gold digga, but she ain't messin' wit no broke niggas..."

I also bought the new Paul McCartney cd, "Chaos and Creation in the Backyard". I'm about to pop it in my player here in the house.

I've only heard Gold Digger from this CD and will not be going out of my way to purchase the album after his remarks about Bush. While I may not agree with the man, there's a time and a place to let your feelings heard. The telethon which was aimed to help people was used to spread his cause. No thanks, Kanye.

'blu, did you get a strange look buying Kanye West and Paul McCartnet albums at the same time? Thats one hell of a strange combo. I haven't heard the new Kanye song, I'm sure I will sometime. I've heard the new McCartney album is pretty good, but that was from a Clearchannel DJ, so who knows if it really is.

I used to call myself a Republican, but I'm a Libertarian in reality. Big Brother Scares me more than any Liberal threat.

Oh man, I wish I didn't read this thread cause I love that song and didn't know who sang it. Bah!

Yeah, I noticed Libertarians are pretty conservative thinkers....

I'm surprised they aren't coming up in national office in this climate.

I wouldn't say they are conservative. I would say they are more "old school;" as in thinking that the country should be ran as it was intended in 1787 when they wrote the constitution. Edited by lakefire

Anybody actually seen the clip of Kanye badmouthing Bush? It was on The Daily Show a few weeks ago. I know I shouldn't laugh, but it's absolutely hilarious! The look on Mike Myers face is priceless!

You're right, it was funny on the "off the cuff" part of it, however it was out of place. I support Greenday however you don't see them going on a telethon for a national tragedy spreading their words. They do it through music and their concerts.

I don't want to beat the political drum, but I think Kanye is over-rated.

Nah mute, not switchin' teams.  Just recognizing.

Yeah, that song got me a little more into Paul Wall, when I simply didn't know who he even was, let alone feel him.

I hate Kanye... He's too damn cocky. Even moreso than me, wouldn't you say, Sixty8? And like Josh, think he's overrated. I don't like the music either... Bleh. Now that's not because of the Bush comment... That just made me hate him even more. :P But speaking of music... I really want to get Avenged Sevenfold's new album. I've first heard of their music on Nascar Thunder 04... How ironic? But I really want this CD... their other two ones as well. I want to get System of a Down's new one as well... :D

Everybody's goin' to a party, have a real good time...

That song is so schizophrenic. I don't really care for System.

Kanye's new cd has about 4 songs on it that I really like. The rest is too hardcore for me.

Depeche Mode has a new cd coming out. I was heavy into them for years and wish them renewed success.

I am a fan of what used to be called Alternative Rock. I also love 60's Psychedelia. I'm a Beatles fan. The Doors and Jefferson Airplane are also great. And who can forget Dusty Springfield?

How's the McCartney cd? I think some of his solo stuff is really underated. "Flaming Pie" is one of my favorite albums of all time.
