Stupid Questions

Featured Replies

My manager received this quote from a friend today:

Those who say there are no stupid questions...have never worked in Customer Service.

We got a chuckle out of it, considering some of the questions we receive.

But, hmm...do you agree or disagree? Any anecdotal experiences?

There are no stupid questions, but there are occasionally stupid people who ask questions.

A colleague from college did part time in a mobile phone company's call center. One that I remeber him telling us was: I want to delete a text message and I'm getting a 'Do you want to delete? yes/no' message - Which option do I choose?

Those who say there are no such things as stupid questions, have never taught.

"Mr. G.! I just got a paper cut! Am I going to get a staph infection and die?!"

I would stake my life on the fact that he's autistic (high performing though), yet his parents REFUSE to have him tested. All of his teachers agree. But every day, we have a new "Brendan" story.

Today he thought his heart was going to explode. I didn't realize my lesson on -are verbs was so stimulating...

I used to love Mad Magazines feature,"Snappy answers to Stupid questions people ask."

Samples: Day at the beach. A man in a swimsuit, soaking wet is coming out of the water. Passerby asks,"Have you been swimming." Possible comebacks: "No, I just strolled over from Europe." "No, I was just out walking my pet fish."

It's funny how often you get asked dumb questions, only to think of a clever response after the person has left.

"Nope, I've got a really bad thyroid problem..."

Interesting...hopefully they will do something about it...

Yeah, funny ... and frustrating, too ... because once you think of the clever response, you REALLY want that time back to be able to USE it ... he he.
