That is gorgeous. You could also go with silver, charcoal, white, or black for the exterior, but I think you're right and dark metallic red would look best.

I like that color...I also like the Burgandy Caddies used back then also like on my sister's DTS..

I just love me this pickup truck! :P This is some style, wish we had new auto's with style like this. They just all are bland. Perfect example is the Equinox is a nice great CUV, but bland in the style department and blends in with everything else but does follow Chevy style of their product family.

Then you move to the GMC Terrain. This is a love it or hate it affair and I have to say it is freaking awesome little CUV. I would want this as a Black ICE paint job, black chrome edition with a turbo V6 AWD. A Modern Typhoon edition. Yet everyone says it must change to better fit into the family profile.

WHY WHY WHY, Why can we not have a family profile that still does give awesome style.

So, what does your task list look like to complete the Mothertruck? Picking the paint scheme is interesting, but assuming you buy a donor, what needs to happen between donor acquisition to taking it to the paint booth?

Not much. Just test-fitting the new panels, fixing one rust spot (tiny), and welding a bunch of small holes left by the emergency equipment. The bed is just bolted together, so I will unbolt all of the panels and have them stripped, and then put it back together with the new GM bedsides I have. Almost all of the work is simple nut and bolt stuff. The truck was not dented or rusted to begin with. I'll use the doors and front sheetmetal from the donor just because it will be easier and faster that way. The original panels and doors are all pretty good. I'll strip out the interior and windshield so everything can get painted, then put it all back together, the truck is already done mechanically.

OK, so I've researched the hell out of this one. Supposedly that Camino is painted in a "Corvette Dark Teal" which is a color I can't find. In 1969, GM supposedly offered a color called " Midnight Teal Metallic" that I can find no examples of.

1965 Chevelle "Tahitian Turquoise" is pretty close, as is 1967 Chevelle "Tahoe Turquoise". Those two are hard to tell apart from the pics I've seen. I remember seeing the '65 color, and memory says it has a lot of green in it. Both colors do, but the "65 looks more blue in the pics I've found while the '67 color looks more green in the pics. Those two colors are as close as I've gotten to the color of that Camino which is damn near perfect.

If I go in this color direction, I'll be needing a tan or gray interior.

Look at the 93-96 GMC Suburban line, My 94 has a beautiful Dark Teal paint job that GM did and I just love it. Yes the interior is a two tone gray and it just goes really well with this color.

So going back to exterior paint choices, I really like a dark navy blue with a white center and roof option. Don't focus on the tan color shown here (and forget the fact that this is the previous gneration - rounded - body style) but pay attention to the white colored areas:

I have no money for a project of my own, no money to buy a new Sierra to play with, so I'll live through your "Mothertruck" adventures :smilewide:

Honestly, if I had a winter indoor storage place PLUS the cash to buy this from you, I would do so in a heartbeat (then I could tell you exactly how I'd want it :P ). I think when it's all done this is going to be one awesome Chevy Truck. It's great to see a truck guy building such a capable truck. Too bad you won;t have it done before the AACA Fall Meet in Hershey (October), as that is one great marketplace to sell it at (and maximize your profit intake).

I look forward to the build up of this truck - be sure to document in pictures like you did with the Tahoe fix.

Doing the documentation is a given, you can count on that.

This project will either get underway soon, or be delayed for a time depending on what luck I have in finding a new plow truck.

I'm still holding out a small hope for that happening.

If I find the right plow truck, then this will take a backseat until I sell the Tahoe and the ROPOS.

I am really quite happy with the Tahoe right now, but I need to move things forward, so it will have to go if I find the right truck to replace it as a daily driver as well as replacing the ROPOS.

I want all of my projects either finished or gone ASAP.

Except the Camino, that one I don't mind taking some time with.

I personally like the roof clearance lights on all full-size trucks, though I think legally they're only needed on dually trucks. It's really your choice to keep them or not.

As for the blue one pictured above, it looks as if the grille and headlight buckets have been chromed. I like that look over the stock light gray plastic, but I would still paint the center bar body color as that's how it was done from the factory.
