Montreal Autoshow: Lexus RX 450H

Here are some pictures I took of the 2009 Lexus RX 450H at the Montreal International Autoshow in Quebec, Canada on Tuesday January 20th.

Man is it ever horribly ugly! That front end is terrible!

Yeah it's not very pleasing to the eye... and there isn't a good shot of the dash either. Don't worry, ya ain't missing nothin there either!

It looks like my wife won't be upgrading to this ugly thing. When we bring our RX300 in for service we always get the 330RX loaner and we always wish we had the second gen RX, but now that the 3rd gen is so ugly, we will pass. The worst part is while the exterior is tolerable, the interior looks like it belongs in a minivan, shades of Nissans Quest with that bulbous center pod/dashboard. Ewww....

Yikes! This thing makes the new Nissan Murano look like a supermodel (definitely a major accomplishment). Cadillac might have made a good move by switching the next gen SRX to a FWD platform. This repulsive thing might convince some of the RX's demographic to give Cadillac another try (hopefully). Toyota has never been a style leader, but lately they seem desperate to make any kind of styling statement. The problem is that their bland tendencies have evolved into some kind of awkward hideousness.
