i got a few hard drives from old computers laying around. one of them in fact has a bout 30gb of music and pics that i would like back. i dont want to send them off to get restored or transfered and found this little doo hickey looking around.

anyone used one or know anything about them?

i don't know why they shouldn't work.. it's just an external enclosure rigged with a card reader.... if you want speed out of it, don't get it, it prolly works fine otherwise. just look for reviews on them...?

i like the little cube style ones better that have sata ide 2.5 and ide 3.5 on them. i have had no issues with them

That's cool...I had a 30gb hd and a 120gb out of dead computers that I put into an external HD enclosure to try and recover the data, but the computer I hooked it to never could see them...the old drives must have been damaged.

eh i looked at some reviews and the people said they didnt like em, another guy said his computer didnt recognize his. just thought i would get more reputable advice or suggestions than those tools on there

Interesting.

I have a SATA external enclosure for my backup drive, and the guts of an IDE enclosure...although I just have the IDE drive hooked up internally right now.
