And the reason for my feelings is factual, we really are destroying the country rapidly and its not coming back. The debt, the move away from the dollar as the reserve currency for the world, the de industrialization, the loss of family farms, the educational damage, the environmental damage, the division, its all getting worse and not going to reverse regardless of how we vote. The die is cast, the American empire is over.

We took a 102 mile round trip bike ride Saturday, I only made half if it as my bike had mechanical problems at the 51 mile mark. Could not rectify the problem, so I waited at a local brew pub by a fire on the patio with my Cannondale eating a Calzone and drinking good beer 9only had 2 though) until my wife got to the Ranger and drove down to pick me up.

Drinking good beer, enjoying my life, eating good food, being in touch with nature, and riding my bike are how I am going to live through and enjoy the tough times we are inevitably going to face.

That ride is a metaphor for the next twenty years of my life...

Hell yeah, at least there is beer.

True, but sadly the real world is doom and gloom if you go into any major city with Federal buildings. The ICE building in Seattle used to be a nice place to walk by on my way to work. Now it looks like a Nazi Concentration camp with guard posts outside, razor wire, nothing that says a Democratic America, just a Dictatorship run country. Very scary to see all the ICE out and about Harassing Americans as much as anyone else.

ICE needs to be closed down, and a new Immigration department built with people who are human.

Again, not true. I literally work directly across from a federal building in STL and that is not the case. I'm sure the one in Seattle is that way, but you can't just blanketly cover every Fed building as the same.

I guess, the short term pain is not painful enough.  Problem is, because of zombie-ism, the pain is also numb for them to realize that there will not be any long term gains. Ohio does have snow and humidity and Im assuming salted roads in the winter.  So that would explain the rust.

Poor ownership explains the rest.  And how it was written, "rolling junkyards of Ohio" and Im assuming that a majority of Ohioans make for poor owners of automobiles?

Quebecois in general are decent care takers of their vehicles.  They are shytty drivers, but that is a whole other ballgame.

Salted roads, no inspections, poverty, red state issues. lots of beaters on the roads.  Which is sad, as Ohio has many great universities and cultural institutions... still a lot of wealth here, though...I live a few miles from some of the most expensive real estate in the state (Hunting Valley, Gates Mills, Pepper Pike) and they just opened a new Porsche dealer close by.  I'm an Ohio native, grew up here, moved back, still see some good here...it's not all Trump trash.

Yeah...all this has to be reversed.

The american green back has been the focal point for some time. Many nations wanted the american green back to go away in world trade. trump and his regime facilitated that move.

Education.  How do americans educate themselves when ignorance is celebrated?

Division. Many americans are racist, sexist. Education is key to eliminate most of that.

Quebec has salted roads. And poverty.  But we have inspections. Not really enforced to the max but the little laws we do have  that are somewhat enforced insure that rolling hazards are not on our roads.

I have a neighbor here that has a 5-year-old Mercedes and it has rust spots and moss all over since she never washes it, I suspect the rust is from clogged drains since she leaves it outside year-round by pine trees.

Agree, I see inaction all the time with social media posts of people recording ICE doing illegal things and no one walking up demanding accountability.

ICE has started to do this Nazi BS here in Issaquah, I told my wife to carry her passport as she cares for our newest grandson and takes him all over, will help with proving she is a U.S. citizen, Korean by birth. I also told her to call me if anything like this happens.

I will not tolerate this Nazi BS.

I wholeheartedly agree.  The '77 had the cleaner vertical bars with the stacked lamps as opposed to the '76's diamond hatch grill.

Back then, there were a lot of options and not everything was put into strict and limited packages.

It would have been nice to get the plush up-level interior, the gauge package, and a tilt wheel, yet not put on too many of the electric gizmos.

On the exterior, those spirograph wheels are actually wheel covers, hence susceptible to sticky fingers. But they look mighty fine. Then, you'd need dual body colored sport mirrors to go with all that.  Pass on a vinyl roof.

Now here's where I might be crazy.  I would just get the basic standard engine.  It was the 250 cubic inch inline 6 by Chevrolet.  Those have a 7 main bearing crank and they are in it for the long haul.  They purr differently than does a V8, but they were definitely smoother than the V6 (by Buick) of that day.

So that's a package that features the looks inside and out, but also has a simple and reliable DIY setup in the engine bay.  You'll just have to live with 105 horses.  People may honk at you!

I'm glad you like this car.  Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person on this forum who carries a big torch for the GM colonnades.  And that my detailed knowledge of them is nerdy!

Happy hump day, folks.  It's also Whopper Wednesday.

Agree, national scale, the country leadership is over due to the Russian Asset Puppet the Zombie Boomers put in office trying to live in the past.

Locally, I love living in Washington State, Mild Winters, but 1-2 hrs to drive up and enjoy winter sports. Parks, trails, biking, so much to do and see, love it here.

Not to mention the wine, beer and food scene here.

It's almost as if we just embraced some form of objective reality and broke the duopoly of the corrupt democrats and corrupt republicans, that we would have a fantastic country.

Quebec has salted roads. And poverty.  But we have inspections. Not really enforced to the max but the little laws we do have  that are somewhat enforced insure that rolling hazards are not on our roads.

Ohio is a beautiful state.  Judging by the personal pictures you post and what I see when I use the google machine.

I do apologize for my tantrums. Not directed at you. But...I will continue to rant and temper tant against the people of america and trump.  Do not include yourself in these.  The people that include themselves in these tantrums probably SEE themselves in them...

Ohio has a lot of beautiful parts. No idea what the rest of my life holds, zero effort put into worrying about it. I can plan for some contingencies, but that is about it.

America is losing the war it has with reality, as well as the trade war.

No argument from me there.

And I am not saying that the Democrats are good, that our problems are all political, or that America is entirely bad.

But we are going through a bout of national insanity.

 Again...

for the umpteenth time I ask.

How do YOU (a general you as well as a personal you) stop the insanity?

By NOT engaging in politics?

By accepting it and tolerating the insaity?

By giving up?

By blaming both parties yet not doing anything by NOT engaging in politics?  (twice said)

The usa IS a democracy... (for the little time left it has by being a democracy)

Democracy NEEDS ALL of its citizens to be engaged for it to work...

If not...well...you get what the usa is facing right now...

That's kind of my point though. "any major city with federal buildings" and it certainly isn't the case. Again, I'm sure it is the case in some cities, but it isn't a blanket statement that's true.

Since I can work from home, have not been in Seattle the last week and not planning to for the rest of the year. I have not seen any pictures of Seattle ICE Building on the news or posted online in social media, so I can only pull the Portland one that currently looks like this.

Portland woman faces federal charge after she ‘lunged’ at officer near ICE building

Previously looked like this.

Portland ICE building operates on 'modified status' Monday; protesters remain n | KATU

Now they have added the fencing with barb wire.

Portland protesters march on ICE building for a second night running | Daily Mail Online

Local news is doing a good job of how terrible ICE has become here in the PNW.

If you take a look at history, you can see that the ball room, the Trump Arch are right out of Hitlers playbook along with everything else he is doing and all these ICE Lemmings are saying they are just doing their job ignoring that they swore an oath to the Constitution and laws of this country, not to a narcissistic Idiot that 47 is.

Did my part today in filling out my voter's card for the elections next week and dropped them off along with my wife's ballot at the ballot box. We vote on who is the best candidate not the party for the role that is up for election.

One of the biggest problems here in the U.S. is that both corrupt parties have moved in most states to ban the ability to state what party you really are or Independent which my wife and I are. You are forced to choose Red or Blue and that to me is a large problem of the political issues as I think there are far more independents than either party is willing to acknowledge.

I really wish we could figure out how to get an Independent President candidate on all states ballots as it is time to smack both parties where it hurts and leave them with no majority, but a required must work with the Independents to achieve anything or look like the losers they are.

I listened to this one a whole 5 seconds.

Jesus Christ defended a prostitute when some folk were throwing rocks at her and condemning her for adultery and other lustful sins.  He showed empathy towards her by also showing the hypocrisy of the stone throwers by saying he who hasnt sinned may cast the first stone.

Its more of the common bible stories to be told.  And there are countless of other parables of where Jesus Christ preaches empathy.  EMPATHY is literally what Jesus preached. It is Christianity's modus operandi.

Like I said,  the bullshyte of what is called conservative christianity,  mega christians, evangelicals and all others like that are NOT legit religions.  Those are cults. Lead by snake oil salesmen.  This shyte should NOT be confused.  There are LEGIT religions out there. These are not. These are fake.

It is good we are talking about it.  Politics and all. EXPOSING all the bullshyte going on.

Even on an automotive forum.

THIS is how the truth remains RELEVANT.

And in the grand scheme of things of me posting burning American flags and being vulgar towards americans really means nothing OTHER than allowing a discussion of what is happening. Allowing another point of view, a point of view of a foreigner if you will, but a foreigner who's country has ALSO been affected by this madness, to be heard.

Others that read this site as lurkers also get to see this point of view and have another TRUTHFUL venue to rely on DESPITE this site being an automotive site.

THIS is one of MANY fights a population has to fight against oppression, fascism and injustices that the usa is facing.

Me too. On Sunday, my wife, kids and myself voted for our mayor. Early voting.  Nov.2 I think is the day of.  Montreal and its surrounding boroughs and suburbs and towns all have their municipal elections. My suburban town has issues, like all places, and I made it a point to invest a little of my time, my family's as well, to understand what my town's issues are, what our needs are and we made it a point to learn about the possible mayoral candidates and we voted for who we thought we best suit our town.

I preach what I pray.  It has been a looooong while since I voted for a mayor. When I last voted, I still lived in the city and voted for a Montreal mayor. It is easier to learn about big city mayors than it is to learn about suburban mayors. But...using the google machine, its easy to do nowadays. So I did. And taught a lesson to my kids about...democracy.

You need to learn about life before you could lecture me on what is real and what is fake.  You are still a child if you think that religions are fake.  Religions have a purpose is a clue to what Im eluding to.

I understand you...

But like I had replied to you a while ago.

a 2000 year old religion like the Greek Orthodox religion is NOT to be bunched up with this bullshyte.

Its fine if you do not believe.

But not all religions are fake.  And I know you understand this difference well.

As weird as it sounds, I'd love to have a '77-79 Impala 2dr or Caprice 2dr as a hobby car.  Straight 6 or 305 would be fine...I've just always liked that rear window and the overall shape.

77-chevorlet-impala-rear.jpg

That coupe is definitely unique.

The inline 6 would be really rare on the Impala/Caprice.  I've never seen one IRL, let alone one listed anywhere for sale.

A few more basic Malibus might have been equipped with the 6, and sort of stripped down, as loss leaders to bring people into the showroom.  The loss leaders were sort of the runts of the litter.  I'm guessing most people stepped up to a slightly nicer equipped unit, but some did stick to their budgets and drove off with the loss leaders.

Inline 6s are definitely unique (sounding) when you turn the key and feather the pedal to hear its sounds.

What part of that or what he said before then has anything to do with the state of the building across the street from you? You seem to be missing the point for the difference in the two buildings (and the motives behind that). Both building contain the same problems where ICE is concerned.

Or maybe you’re just being deliberately obtuse. Don’t know. Doesn’t matter.

Carry on.

It was specifically to the line "... the real world is doom and gloom if you go into any major city with Federal buildings."

They're all real alright.

REALly good at scamming people into giving them their money for the promise of hopes and dreams. Let's just overlook the "real" religions that absolutely certainly do not have issues molesting children.
