Nissan News: Revealed! 2017 Nissan Titan and Titan XD Regular Cab

9 posts in this topic

For the first time ever, Nissan will be offering a single cab variant of the Titan and Titan XD models.

The Titan regular cab measures out to the same length as the crew cab (228.1 inches) and uses the same wheelbase length (139.8 inches). The Titan XD regular cab is about a foot shorter than the XD crew cab (231 vs. 242.8 inches). Both models will get an eight-foot bed.

Both the Titan and Titan XD will feature a 5.6L V8 with 390 horsepower paired with a seven-speed automatic. The Titan XD will also get a 5.0L Cummins turbodiesel V8 with 390 horsepower. The Titan will get a V6 engine, though specs on this engine will be announced later.

Here is how the Titan regular cabs stack up in terms of payload and towing,

  • Titan: Maximum Payload - 1,930 pounds, Maximum Towing - 9,730 pounds
  • Titan XD: Maximum Payload - 2,910 pounds, Maximum Towing - 12,640 pounds
Nissan says the Titan and Titan XD regular cabs will go on sale later this fall. Both models will be offered in the S and SV trims.

WOW :o Externally this looks like a clone of Ford, internally the dash clearly has attributes from Ford and GM, but the over all impression is cheap, hard plastic, not impressed.

I get it they want to be a player in the full size truck market, but WOW, not impressed.

Well I did own a Datsun pickup once, for 3 years in the mid-80's.  I don't think this new one's that bad.  A little French Baroque (Renault?) in spots with some of the exterior trim work, but I like the SV interior, and I am a diehard fan of the regular cab wherever I can get it.  So far the sales figures for the new Titan have been more Lilliputian though.

Have you been in the new XD?

There was one at the STL auto show back in January(or February..) and I was surprised how nice it was inside. Granted I didn't have similarly priced/equipped D3 trucks to compare it to at the same exact time but I thought the interior kind of rocked. If only they could work on the proportions a little better...

I just think the XD needed to up it's payload and towing capacity just a little more to really stand apart from the half-tons and become a very good value. Even if the towing just tipped the 13,000lb mark just to say it does. I think that would widen the gap a little better and just looking at a Silverado and F150 can tow 12,xxxlbs and this can tow 12,xxxlbs just looks too similar to not go the F150/Silverado route unless you tow on a regular basis in which I have to believe the larger, heavier truck will just be better suited for "work".

Nope never been in one, only making my personal opinion based on the pictures and I still am not impressed. Glad to hear they are better in person, but from these pictures, I would not bother looking at one. This drives home the importance of putting on that first impression as pictures speak a thousand words and then some.

I wouldn't consider one just because they don't seem to do anything more than the GM/Ford half tons which have a billion and one configurations available and one of those that I think I would want is the middle cab side. The only thing that really grabs my attention is the 5.0 Cummins. But that's about it.

Yeah after looking at those pictures it doesn't do much for me.

This is what I sat in basically... Scroll down to the interior pics.. the brown looks great imo.

I will agree that the two tone brown interior does look better, but does not WOW me into wanting to go drive one or buy one.

Yeah, it doesn't WOW me over the other trucks but I do think it looks really good.
