  1. The homogenization of the car is nearly complete already. The vroom vroom noises you are hearing in the Mustang, CT6, and most German premium brand models isn't even real anyway, it is computer embellishment. Buick, GMC Denali, Volvo and others use active noise cancelation to remove the vroom vroom noises whenever possible. Automatic pedestrian braking saves lives, loud pipes do nothing for someone who is deaf. It's 1919 and you're still arguing in favor of the horse and buggy. But all of that is beside the point... you can still just let other people enjoy things.

  2. Wrong, Wrong, Wrong, Loud Pipes cause DEATH, Hearing Loss and are driven by selfish individuals that can only think of themselves. Harley is a perfect example of a company that makes a product that should have never been allowed to skirt the rules to survive. Build a better product or die. The Noise DOES NOT save lives. I see more people hurt by the noise and freak out and almost hit the rider than helping them. There is a difference between a tuned exhaust pipe and loud hurtful noise. If you had truly spent any time test riding any of the electric bikes, you would see how much fun they are and their own unique sound they make.

  3. I have little interest in hearing engine noise when driving, the quieter the better. How about automakers do something about quieting HVAC fan noise? I like a quiet interior so I can crank up the audio and hear the music...

  4. Buick going 100% all wheel drive like Subaru but with a softer, cushy ride for suburbanites who are the opposite of “active lifestyle” could work for them.

  5. 'Loud' is relative- no one is advocating decibels so high it causes death. But with many OEMs creating digitized, loud-speaker broadcast 'engine sounds' to warn pedestrians and offer 'audio appeal', the opposite is far closer to the truth- some noise is better than none. Dead silent electric cars are much more dangerous. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/americas-best-selling-cars-and-trucks-are-built-on-lies-the-rise-of-fake-engine-noise/2015/01/21/6db09a10-a0ba-11e4-b146-577832eafcb4_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.9eec23b0a5b8

  6. Auto-shows are very relevant if planned right. Detroit is their own fault for hosting it at a time of year that people do not want to go out in the weather for. Also, people want to do more than just look at an auto. Seattle auto-show has continued to grow due to innovation. Their is a place for little kids so that parents who want to compare, sit in and go back n forth between certain makes or models can do this while their kids are looked after. On top of this is the two drive options you have. One is a traditional drive onto the streets to see how the auto basically drives in real world traffic. Always popular for the car and truck crowd. Second one is the off-road obstacle course where one can see how an SUV/CUV/Truck handles. The guidance one gets on this is awesome. Today's Auto-show has to evolve into a family event with more than just a bunch of auto makes sitting on a show floor.

  7. This is the autoshow's fault. They've been approving everyone and anyone who could fog a mirror and who has posted on the internet ever. It's all about the control factor. The manufacturers want to control who has access to the debut and instead of getting journalists and legitimate bloggers and influencers, they're getting Chinese competitive intelligence crawling over the car for the first 3 days of the show.
