It's better than the Altima, Accord, Passat, Arteon, Regal, and Malibu. Only the Camry and Regal GS have more. Maybe Maxima too if there is price overlap. But we may be finally moving into an era where torque is king again and we can finally get away from these relatively useless HP numbers.

• Rear on the above coupe gives me a strong mid-range, Solara-esque vibe. It's got a bland generic look to it. • The 'grab handles' on the MB console look like roller coaster grab handles. Kinda comical- as if the occupants should prepare for .60 lateral G capability. And I disagree they are 'luxury trappings'- for that to be the case the non-functional had better be eye-candy, which these are not only NOT, they're obtrusive. Hopefully they get eliminated or reduced in the upcoming mid-cycle redo. • Yes; only single digit percentages of these lux SUVs ever go offroad.

I think even majority of people who buy Grand Cherokee never take them off road. My friend just got '18 GC High Altitude, I doubt he will ever take his new precious toy off road in danger of damaging it. Let alone people who are buying $100k SUV's to drive their kids to school.

This thing is awesome in a somewhat dorky way. Here's an additional photo of two parked side by side. It reminds me of a Hyundai version of the Kia Soul but in a fresher flavor. Scared to ask if the stick is available in the highest trim level. I would take one in Green Apple, highest trim with stick. This thing kicks the Nissan Kicks in the gonads, fur shurr yo.

I agree that I also do not see why not to sell it being assembly is so close to home. Yet I also understand if the dealers feel the profit levels and what the customers are wanting does not justify this. I still think they should allow customers to order them if they want and wait to get it built and shipped in.

I can't imagine anyone buying a family sedan like the Sonata would care about the HP, torque or 0-60. This is functional point A to point B transportation.

0-60 doesn't really matter in this class either. What matters is responsiveness. The turbo torque comes on at a crazy low rpm. With the right gearing it will feel quicker.

Peak horsepower doesn't matter. Deep torque curve does. If the 8-speed does its job, it should still feel plenty fast with the 1.6T

Can you get the light-up Bowtie in the US? Doesn't matter how many regular cabs they would sell- the work is done & the truck is rolling off an assembly line. Sell it here (in the semior style -like above- and in long bed).

Read elsewhere where a claimed BMW owner was severely disappointed the CT5 didn't look like the Escala. Here's a quickie comparison :

I took my '00 GC off road in Colorado a week after I bought it new. But that's how it is in Colorado. I remember seeing lots of GCs on the high country trails. I'm sure it's still a small percentage of owners, though. In generic suburbs, the typical SUV owner with 2.5 kids probably rarely goes on anything rougher than a gravel road...

Yup, Family consistency in the dash, just done better this time around with contrasting colors. I can find the same thing in MB, heck just about any European auto, Asia is where you find the really weird contrasting dash shapes.

Last year in China Buick sold 1.1 Million (2018). The Excelle XT/GT sold 262K. I don't what math class U took but that is not any where near half Also Level 3 autonomy is a lawsuit waiting to happen here in the U.S. Super-Cruise, and I've tested" works extremely well, and only small improvements should be done or allowed on the streets of the United States with over 225 million actual drivers. Escalade has a MRC and various other handling mechanisms that will put the Germans on notice in a cornering debate. Lexus and Acura benefit from a different type of propaganda machine. Altho Acura barely outsells Cadillac which up until the end of last year simply did not have the proper CUV options available. I see Cadillac (155K 2018) outselling Acura (159K 2018) this year once the XT6 goes on line. Also its absolutely undeniable if Cadillac had as extensive a line up as Audi.. it would outsell it. 223K sales of Audi with 15 cars avail vs Cadillac having 6 I see it.. What of it? Both of those interiors are gorgeous.. something that many have never argued. Why is a retention of a design cue a bad idea? Are we advocating change for the sake of change? For Godsake... I see zero wrong with the retention of the dash portions.. and think they did a helluva job in integration. The goal was to bring the interiors going forward in line with the other current offering. The CT5, XT6 were supposed to recognizable as the sisters to the XT5 and XT4. I will also point out that the gear shifter and console area are literally 95% the same as well.. AGAIN.. great integration into a new design.

For these luxury SUVs, it's probably less than 1% of owners that take them off road, and in the US it's mostly in Colorado and a few other western states, I would presume..

I can equally find pictures of GL off roading. Doesn't mean many people take either Escalade or GL actually off roading

The timing for a diesel is rather lousy, given what has happened in the last few years. Better to make the diesel cheap and sell the hell out of as many as possible.

Thank you for posting them, after watching them I can clearly see why they are not on sale here. The potential is such limited as most people would rather have a King cab or crew cab model over this and those seats look so uncomfortable. Kinda slab like. Very cool that they have an RST and Z71 version of a standard cab short bed truck, but how many would really sell here. ? Course I do get the thinking, they build it and sell it in Mexico, so how hard is it to offer to sell it hear and have it on the catalog as an option. At least give the dealerships the CHOICE. Let the market prove if there is or is not sales of a standard cab short bed.

Here ya go Robert: It is a nice Nautical theme color contrast but not sure I would want it for years of driving. Would rather have a nice Moca interior. Much warmer.
