Well, the same could be said for classic cars too...heck, most were under 10k.... ? But I do agree that it is an insane amount of money to spend.. But it’s hard to say much for those folks when folks are willing to spend that or more restoring a 57 Chevy ... In the end, it’s all about the love the car.. ? Of course, I would be willing to do both..lol.....3 points

Finally both my wife's car and mine have Carplay/Android Auto. After using it for the last week or so, who in the right mind will go back to using OEM navigation/infotainment system? Car manufacturers are moron for resisting it for so long and wasting money developing their own systems. Thankfully more and more seem to see the light and switching to either Android or Apple based infotainment systems.3 points

IMO, a miata should be $15K brand new, so I'd vote no way on dumping $40K into one.3 points

Yeah, been to a few dog shows.....so right on there! ? Ours are good most of the time....though Bella tends to be our problem child....lol... Sometimes having dogs is like having more kids!!!3 points

Congrats on the new brick. You can drive your car with the parking brake on if you want to match her gas mileage.2 points

@daves87rs When dogs annoy me, which is rare, it's usually large, clumsy dogs or small pampered yappy dogs, especially the kind that get taken to the groomer. I much prefer the medium sized breeds of herding/working dogs. If trained correctly, they really listen to their owners.2 points

While sitting at a light I saw this clean '66 Ford F100 at a gas station..just out of the picture to the left behind a bus stop was a turquoise '66 Mustang convertible and a primered 1950-ish Chevy panel truck. Also saw a clean white w/ white interior '74 Pontiac Grand Ville convertible in traffic, rolling top down on this unseasonable 90 degree afternoon...1 point

Those graphs and charts from your link at autonews.com really tell an eye opening story of how the Big 2 and FCA are getting royally screwed over by the UAW. I hope GM keeps up the fight, they really need to stick it to 'em!1 point

I'm in love w/ their wagons...their sedans are really nice also, IMO. Don't know how they drive, but I love the interior and exterior styling.1 point

You mean another day another $82 million dollars? ?? B!tching about GM moving towards EV's and how they require less parts and are easier to assemble which requires fewer workers. Cry me a River UAW! https://techcrunch.com/2019/10/01/auto-workers-strike-pushes-gm-losses-past-1-billion/1 point

I was commenting on what it should cost now, not what it originally stickered for. I mean; you can buy a brand new miata with a full warranty for $25K, why would you take one you already have money invested in, then dump $40K into it on top of that? It's the same car. '57 Chevys' average sale prices are crazy, and they can cost less to restore than many other cars.1 point

A couple months ago the fiance' got rear ended in her 2005 G500. Everybody was okay, that I know of. The rear-ender I think went to the ER but we never heard anything after. I don't believe it was anything serious. Anyway, it was enough to total her G500. For better or worse that thing is a tank. They were all sore the next few days, as with most any accident but for getting hit at about 40-50mph while standing still(they were waiting to turn left on a two-lane road) it held up almost as if it hadn't been smoked from behind. Well, she got an Outlander as a rental almost two weeks later. Their insurance company was being a huge pain in the @ss. Somewhat ironically, when I got in my accident the same company was extremely efficient and easy to deal with as a victim and making a claim against them, State Farm. It was alright, I never got to drive it as I wasn't the one who rented it or had my name on it and I never really needed to but I rode in it a couple times. It's an alright vehicle. There were 2-3 times in the two times I was in it thought that the transmission wouldn't upshift and I had to most it to "Sport" then back to "Drive" to get it up upshift. That was weird. Anyway, so the insurance company ended up totaling the vehicle. 234,000 miles and I would say it was only in "okay" shape at that point. They gave her $40,000 for that thing. I was expecting $20-25,000 after looking at them online. So that was a pleasant surprise. Bought for $55,000 and ten years and almost 200,000 miles later got $40,000 for it(bought used). So I know she is a huge Mercedes fan and likely wouldn't want anything else. I tried getting her to look at anything modern and SUV they offered for her. She ONLY wanted an SUV. She also ONLY wanted boxy.. you can probably see where this is going.. I really tried to get her into either a GLC or GLE as they are much better all around vehicles than a G Wagen. Well, her heart was already set on another G Wagen. She simply doesn't like how anything else looks. Well, she got another G Wagen. 2011 G55 AMG with 39,000 miles for $59,000. We had to make a trip to Chicago for it(about 4.5 hours each way). We rented a Buick Encore so we didn't have to take two vehicle home and I have a buddy who is a regional Hertz manager so we got the vehicle for only $78 after everything(insurance, prepaid gas, & taxes) which was considered two days but I believe we only had to pay for one. It is pretty much the same thing she had before but more badass. 5.4L Supercharged V8, 500hp/516tq. The thing scoots for such a big and heavy girl. I have the female vehicle and she has the manly vehicle, Hahaha I'll upload pictures in a comment. I actually don't have any pictures of the new one other than the ones I took off the dealer's page a day or two after she bought it. Accident + rental Encore(missing the grille emblem) The “new” G55 AMG. They’re screen shots so probably piss poor quality, sorry.1 point

Hahaha thanks. I'm not sure if my car will allow me to drive with the parking brake engaged because it's electronic.. Well, at least not partially engaged. I still don't think I would get as bad of fuel economy as that thing, especially considering it drinks 91 octane.1 point

I got my wife couple weeks ago a new car which has the smartphone integration. My dad got her old car and I got his 2016 Mazda 6. Luckily for me Mazda made infotainment back compatible with Carplay/Android Auto starting from 2016 (software upgrade and new USB port). Upgrade is not cheap (up to $400, depending on the dealer, I paid $375) but IMO totally worth it.1 point

Another Day, Another Dollar and the strike continues on, seems GM and the Union leadership are farther apart than everyone thought. https://www.autonews.com/assets/html/uaw2019/index.html Yea, kinda stupid what the union is asking for.1 point

Of course I could have just googled it.. Each color is on big bucket. There are smaller buckets inside those which would be localized utilities like PSE.1 point

It is sad there is no Impala again...maybe it will come back someday, one of Chevy's most iconic names--in 20 years no one will remember the current generic FWD CUVs...1 point

Its definitely one of the things I'm looking forward to most for our next vehicle. Wife is pretty set on 2020 Outback XT.1 point

Everyone, Would you pay $40,000 plus to have your old tired Miata restored to factory freshness or even better? Seems Mazda has a service that will do just that, read about it here: https://www.thedrive.com/news/29942/mazda-will-restore-your-na-miata-roadster-to-factory-perfection-for-40k Have to say, that for me, it would not be worth it but it is very cool!1 point

Imagine the power grid is a series of really big buckets with pipes (power transmission lines) between them. Electricity gets dumped into the bucket and consumers and businesses sip out of the bucket. The electricity that gets dumped into the buckets comes from all sorts of source; wind, solar, coal, nat gas, nuclear, etc. Electricity can also be transferred from bucked to bucket. Is the electricity Honda is actually using coming from nat gas, coal, wind, or solar? Hard to tell which electrons are actually being used, but Honda is buying the same amount of energy from renewable sources to dump into those buckets, so that counts for them as buying sustainable energy. Due to where they are buying, then yes, the people who benefit most from GHG reduction are the people closest to these renewable plants.1 point

Of course; Rivian isn’t remotely a mid-priced brand. Has any brand reported much success with these subscription programs? Sounds like it certainly would have some takers, but I haven’t heard any results.1 point

KBB never looks at supply and demand, from what I can tell. The more rare, unique, older, the more and more off KBB gets.1 point
