  1. Can I redeem mine for a coffee percolator or something??

  2. It is indeed. Not a svelte looking car by any stretch of the imagination. - - - - - As for the sighting on Sunday described above, the guy was obviously surprised that someone was able to figure out he had crank windows by his trim level and basic hubcaps. The post seemed very clear to me. Of course, @ocnblu needs to add the typical "confused" reaction to ensure the post(er) looks stupid and which seemingly doesn't fetch any points. Time to grow up. God, where would be without points?

  4. Makes sense actually. GM has been fairly unsuccessful selling small cars going back to the J, N and A bodies of the 1980s, especially against Honda and Toyota. A Bolt EUV, huh? More (electric) crossovers, please.

  5. First picture is out of a Ford Mach e next to a Tesla Y at a charging station. To me, the Mach e looks way better than the Tesla. Details comparing the two can be reviewed here: https://electrek.co/2020/07/07/tesla-model-y-ford-mustang-mach-e-picture-side-by-side/

  6. Why would you do that? I never take gov't figures at face value. Too much politicizing & incentivizing. Did you know Gov't considers you 'employeed' if you work 1 hour per week? $400,000 divided by $2.50 = 160,000 gallons of fuel. Even at 1 MPG (NASCAR racers get 5MPG feeding 850 HP doing 200 MPH steady), that 160,000 gallons is 13,333 gal per year and 13K miles. School buses average only 8000. That alone pushes the formula’s MPG to well under 1 MPG. Besides the obvious fact that it’s a suspiciously round number, this is merely critical thinking.

  9. Saw this tonight. Nice color. The lady left the top down and went into the store. It's a nicer area, so she figured it would be o.k. Anyone who owns a Cascada should hang onto it for a long time. Especially one like this.

  10. Had my house custom built in '92; about $165K plus about $15K for my 24x48 shop. Already owned the 0.9 acre land - bought it from my in-laws for $1. Paid off the mortgage in 11 years, saved about $75K in interest vs. full term. Zillow says it's $480K now.

  11. I try not to think about paper-thin sheet metal, horribly plasticy interiors and rock-hard suspensions; all hopefully-soon obsolete trappings of 21st century vehicles.

  12. Great housing market in Phoenix Metro, N. Scottsdale/PV area for sure, been holding strong and growing. Doing well with my early 80's 3 bed 2 bath Ranch Style slump block house with a 1/4 acre lot that I bought in 2012 for $325K that's now appraised at $485K as it sits with upgrades, but not a total remodel. Bought in my area for that exact reason and I'm close to everything you will need and far enough away from DT PHX and the freeway, but only 15-20 min. drive to Sky Harbor International. My RE agent tells me there are far more buyers looking than available listings. Supply and Demand holds the Command.

  13. The funny thing is I get calls occasionally about selling my former Phoenix house..which was sold in 2017. (and the price of it has more doubled since it was sold in 2017 and remodeled).

  14. In all honesty. All small and medium sized CUVs look pathetic. Jeep Wranglers and GCs excluded. There are some CUVs that are acceptable. Barely though. The Model S is a good looking car. But its a tad dated now. It desperately needs a refresh. Not a mild one either. A major exterior overhaul would be welcomed. The other Tesla cars are not exactly pretty. The Model 3 and Model Y for me fall under the barely acceptable category. The Model X is pathetic. The Mach E for me is a notch above acceptable but below good looking. I prefer the Jeep GC over it. The Mach E edges out the Ford Edge for me. And yes, I kinda like the Edge. But I much much much prefer the REAL SUVs from FoMoCo. You know. The big guys. The BOF ones... I probably would like the Bronco. On the same level as a Wrangler. And a Toyota 4Runner. (Well, if the 4Runner didnt have that fugly face) (I realize this post reads like Im drunk or high...I assure you, Im sober...)

  15. This thing is a real production vehicle? Those front headlights are goofy, but it manages to look like a sinister, testosterone charged, and updated version of the Wally World wagon. Could it be that it's also green? Not sure.

  16. AC cars, a British automaker will be launching a licensed EV version of the Cobra at $138,000 with a 150 mile battery pack range with 308HP / 469 lb-ft of torque going 0 to 62mph in 6.7 seconds. Car will weigh 2,755 lbs. They admit it is not equal to the Racing cobra's but clearly out performs the original AC Cobra which were powered by inline 4 & 6 cylinder engines. https://electrek.co/2020/07/07/ac-cars-is-building-an-electric-cobra-for-138000/

  17. These reports still seem to be selling EVs by segregating purchase cost and operating costs, as if they weren’t in play, every single time, on the same physical object.

  20. Yes, a 400 SQ FT Studio Apartment will cost you $2,900 a month in Seattle. I just got notified that ALL 1,200 Employees will be brought in over the next 2 weeks at designated times to clean out our Cubicles. We have to take all personal items home and if we want, we can check out our docking station and monitors to take home too. Nothing to be left in the cubicle but the desk and chair. They say this is for Deep Cleaning and Sterilization to allow those critical employees back onsite. Yet our 7 story building lease is up this fall. I know we have the 7th floor subleased and the 1st floor. We consolidated everyone onto floors 4 to 6 so 3rd was vacated, which is an accounting move for writing off the lease cost for non usable space or so corporate said. The 2nd floor was our Executive sales briefing center. We had it half built out and the rest was supposed to be done 2yrs ago, but put on hold since the merger or the two Legacy companies into what is now Dell Tech. My gut tells me based on conversations with facilities folks local and in Austin Texas is we will vacate the bulk of the building and keep maybe on the big size floor 4 where a datacenter exists and 5 & 6 only. But I could honestly see them decommission the datacenter into our huge Durham NC site and do only floors 5 & 6. Coworker who had bought a 1200 sq ft condo in Seattle for $350,000 3 years ago sold it in January for almost $800,000 and moved to the east side in Bellevue to be closer to family and her boyfriend. Got a 2,400 sq ft town home for $700,000. Crazy House Prices. To imagen I got my 2000 sq ft Split Level home on a quarter acre lot for $140,000 in 1999. The old homes around me have since been bought up and torn down with McMansions on them selling for anywhere from $800,000 to $1 million. My tax assessment came in that my house is now worth $550,000. Crazy, crazy crazy

  22. Hurst left it alone in 1974. But I prefer the front and back end of the 1973 model Cutlass over all other Colonnade Cutlasses. And yes, I too prefer the original Olds opera window, but I dont seem to mind the smaller, 1973 Hurst opera window. And to be honest, its a much better opera window than what Oldsmobile ended up doing with it in the later years. At least in my opinion. I didnt know that Hurst did another in 1975. No opera window Im observing... And Im honestly thinking no opera window looks best. Of course with the T-Top!!! I love the F-150 in Raptor form myself!

  23. It's the Fourth of July. I'm in another major city, in its suburbs. I'm stopped at a light. Next to me is a late model 4 door Chevy Sonic. The light bulb goes on when I see its plain Jane wheel covers. I put my window down and motion over to the driver. "Hey, your car has crank windows, right?" "Yeah, it does!" (sort of surprised and amused) Both of us drive off, chuckling, when the light turns green. All in good fun.

  28. Chevy Sonic is DEAD. The assembly line will be used as a second dedicated EV line to build the Bolt EUV. Orion plant while being converted to a 2nd EV assembly line, will still have the option to convert back to building ICE auto's if needed. https://electrek.co/2020/07/07/gm-kills-chevy-sonic-making-room-for-bolt-euv-at-companys-second-all-ev-plant/
