Patina with clearcoat...and an interesting electric motor video. I really like the Cutty's better with the square headlights, actually. That 70's GM maroon...Cadillac called it Firethorn red...Fantastic. ...and yeah...I miss 1970's cars. Cutty in green...3 points

That Pontiac color is very cool. They put out some weird similar colors on some big GM cars in the mid to late '50s. As for the Monte Carlos on that platform, I only liked the last 2 years when they stacked the rectangular headlamps. Ditto for the Malibu Classic. That GM metallic lime is inimitable. It was as '76 as the day is long. That was the only year it was available and it was a hoot to see ... usually trimmed out with white vinyl interiors and lime colored dashboards, seat belts, and carpeting. Once in a lifetime. I'll pass on the black '73 MC. That nice Floridian ranch home in the background got my attention instead. @Robert Hall Agreed ... they dialed it for the new Corvette with that Zeus Bronze color. It looks great and so does the interior ... not a pale and wimpy beige color. When they get a good metallic bronze/saddle/copper color, it really helps a car stand out. I liked the '75 Canyon Copper (Olds's name) they put on Cutlass Supremes back in the day, as well as on many other GM cars.3 points

Always liked odd colors on 60's Pontiacs. Iris mist 65 GTO would be the bomb. I love it. See I would buy it in the orange. Actually, in a wierd reversal of things....I would trade it in on a Raptor. Ford has a color called Blue Jeans which looks fantastic. The Bowns of the 70's were fantastic. 70's green looks good also IMHO. Although hard to go bad with basic black.3 points

^ In my experience, it's very rare that GM ever re-used colors over significant amounts of time. I thought I had an example; a one-year only color, Pontiac (and Olds/ Buick/ Chevy) had 'Skyline Blue' in '64. I know I read a piece on a '72 Pontiac where it was special painted that code paint... but it doesn't show up on paintref.com's cross-reference site. Must've been a true one-off in '72. - - - - - In looking at '58 Pontiac colors, the one that looks closest to my eye to the Cad you pictured is 'Sunrise Coral', but it's a '58-59 color only. I think many people are under the impression that the automotive color palette is ultimately quite limited, when as a matter of fact it's enormous. What is even closer to the Cad is Pontiac's '64 Sunfire Red, a lovely color... but it's a another one-year only, Buick/Pontiac-only color: The Caddy pictured appears to be 'Light Cedar Firemist', but it's only a '79 Cadillac color. The Firemist paints were unique metallics, only on Cadillacs. Cadillac had 20 colors in '79, with 6 of those being extra-cost Firemist metallics.2 points

Right, David already mentioned many other OEM's who've used them so added my actual experience with Bimmer. Speaks to the quality of the 'ole GM Hydramatic trans. Except Toyota is the Hybrid king, fully against EV's and BEV's. They still think Hybrid is the way today and are fully vested in it.2 points

YOU JUST BOUGHT A (basically) BRAND NEW TRUCK LIKE 38 MINUTES AGO! - - - - - I think that Northsky Blue is my favorite. I love black, but I think I'd pass on it. The Red Tintcoat is very nice, but I'm not a bright vehicle color guy. - - - - - '20 Sierra Elevation in Carbon Black, Crew Cab / Standard Bed, 3.0L TD :2 points

Been a while since I've had a "toy" car. Decided to buy this 1988 Firebird Formula for my son and I to work on together. He is almost 13 and not at all mechanically inclined. Not so much because he can't be but because I am one of those picky people that would never let him help me because I wanted to make sure it was done right. It's a pretty clean and rust free all original driver but has more than enough flaws (starting with its anemic 305 V8) that I won't feel guilty doing an LS swap on it. I already sourced the engine and trans as well as a far amount of parts for the conversion but with COVID raging here in Michigan I would feel too guilty to order the rest of the parts I need to get the swap going so it is on hold for now. I don't have the time or equipment to do the engine swap so someone will be doing that for me. My son and I will fix up the interior, replace the little work and broken items and install all the suspension components, though. Should be a fun project once it gets going. I don't want to turn it into a race car. Just a fun, reliable street car. It will be a cam only LS1 with a small stall (2500 rpm) 4L60E. The goal will be something like a 375 RWHP car that will dip into the high 11's in the quarter. Perhaps more mods in future years but no plans to go faster than 11.5 as I already went the roll bar route with a different car and don't want to do that again.1 point

GM announced today their new family of EV motors, The Ultium Drive family. The Ultium Drive family is made up of five interchangeable drive units and three motors. This will help transition the current portfolio of auto's to fully electric lineup. Performance, scale, speed to market and manufacturing efficiencies will provide GM significant advantages over past EV auto's. GM is leading the way with industry class leading drive units that use an electric motor and single-speed transmissions to apply power best in class horsepower and torque. Ultium Drives will be more responsive than internal combustion motors with precision torque control of the motors and smooth performance. The design and development of the Ultium Drive modular architecture allows us to offer industry-leading torque with power density across a wide spectrum of different vehicles types. GM has applied their 25 years of EV experience in creating the Ultium Drive family with lighter and more efficient designs. The Ultium Drive family integrates the power electronics into the drive units assemblies allowing for a 50% reduction in electronics over previous auto's thus saving cost and packaging space while increasing capability by 25 percent. To Quote GM press release: “As with other propulsion systems that are complex, capital intensive and contain a great deal of intellectual property, we’re always better off making them ourselves,” said Adam Kwiatkowski, GM executive chief engineer, Global Electrical Propulsion. “GM’s full lineup of EVs should benefit from the simultaneous engineering of Ultium Drive. Our commitment to increased vertical integration is expected to bring additional cost efficiency to the performance equation.” Ultium-Drive-to-Help-Power-GMs-All-Electric-Future.mp4 https://media.gm.com/media/us/en/gm/home.detail.html/content/Pages/news/us/en/2020/sep/0916-ultium-drive.html1 point

No need to apologize. We appreciate your continued commitment to the site. The G90 is a massive car, old school in the very best way. It's the type of car missed by Lincoln and Cadillac owners of yore.1 point

Drunken was the Miata that fornicated with a cardboard box to make this atrocity. Hard pass. And this from our resident sport compact guy. Or more tequila until it looks good. Lipstick on a pig. See, I actually sort of like the supra. Would take a Mustang GT over the supra though.1 point

If GM really wants to sell these EVs in numbers that make Toyota blush, GM vehicles will probably have to undersell just about everyone for at least three years. GM could use the extra market share.1 point

Ferrari, Rolls, Jaguar, Jeep.... many many OEMs bought GM Hydramatic units of various designs and put them into their vehicles. But yes; best case scenario is that GM produces them in-house.1 point

GM's Ultium Drive powertrain seems like it's going to be a game changer for sure. Pretty awesome they are building all of it in house at GM Powertrain. Afterall, the powertrain is the heart of the car and should be built by the actual manufacturer of the car...looking at you Toyota Z err Supra and FR-S err 86 and all Infiniti SUV's with MB powertrain's ?? Even BMW used the GM 5 speed 5L40/50e Hydramatic AT in the late 90's early 00's, my parents owned a couple of 540i with the 4.4L V8 (a '98 and '02) with the 5L40e, that had super smooth, crisp shifts, awesome cars, horrible A/C systems. GM used them in Cadillac, Pontiac and Holden cars among others. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_5L40-E_transmission1 point

Have to say that the green car report web site brings up an interesting and solid discussion on the new Ultium Drive family. IS THIS THE SMALL-BLOCK V8 of the EV Generation? GM's Ultium Family announcement drives a package of electronics, motor and transmission to an all in one encompassing power train. With horsepower ranging from 235 HP to 1000 HP and battery packs up to 600 miles of range one cannot but help make these comparisons. GM Launched what has become the most popular, reliable small-block V8 engine with Tubo-Hydramatic transmissions the world has seen which have been sourced according to the story below to Rolls=Royce, Bentley, Ferrari, etc. GM Small-Block motors have been used around the world. Honda has now signed on to use the Ultium family of motors and their next generation of EV platform for Honda auto's that will be sold globally in Europe and North America. This will help to quickly drive down costs of the power train and battery. Nikola has signed on to use the Ultium family and Platform plus use a Hydrogen generator to give their pickup truck crazy long range. One does have to wonder with 100 million plus small black V8's built to date. Could the Ultium family be the next centennial power train line? https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1129625_will-gm-s-ultium-drive-be-the-small-block-v-8-for-a-generation-of-evs1 point

That's common for Jeeps I hear LOL!! My cousin has a Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. I mean like @balthazar stated it's the same model. It's hard to change too much on a layout engineers have worked on perfecting for decades. What do you want the steering wheel in the middle of the dash?!1 point

As I drive around, I think it is obnoxious for dealerships to have placed a decal or emblem on the trunk lid or rear door of a vehicle you may have bought from them. I don't want their decal or emblem on my vehicle - on the paint surface - doing free advertising for them. They can give me their dealership license plate frames. I can then decide what to do with them. I typically decide not to put them on the car at all. Less is more.1 point

I prefer a car fit for humans....this is fit for a Money, Kia Soul fit for a hamster. Please bring me a car for humans... Amazing the difference between a crappy SUV and a real off road vehicle.1 point

My partner has got one (Tesla). Two of my immediate neighbors have got EVs. (Both Teslas). One of those neighbors had a 1st gen Volt. A mom of one of the girls I coach in softball has got one. (Tesla) And I shoot the shyte with ALL them regarding their EV ownership. And guess what? None of YOUR fears, and fake EV news relate to their world of EV ownership, dipshyte.1 point

Behind the 8 ball on photos - here they are: Citroen C3 Descriptions beneath photos A side view of the Citroen C3 "super-mini" in the Sicilian countryside A top view of the C3 seen from a patio or balcony up higher at the hotel. Note that the roof has a similar indent to the areas on the door that would be filled in by their trademark Airbump. This is how the dashboard registers with a person upon entering the car. Note that this up-model had the red trim on its black interior with cloth seats This is what the driver looks at, so all the information is handy. I believe it had a digital speed readout (not sure), which I've come to prefer to an analog speedometer gauge. This is the infotainment center. At least it's not placed up high and sticking out. The climate controls, IIRC, were easy to operate. The gearshift is nicely finished in addition to working well. I believe the cup holders should be behind the shifter, not in front of it. A lip on the cubby could be useful to keep a phone from sliding forward and falling out. This is how the remainder of the C3 dashboard plays out. Notice how far out the top of the cowl protrudes to the functional face of the dash. I found that a little strange for a small car. If there's a functional or safety reason behind that, them I'm on board. End of photos - - - - -1 point

This thing is so right. I've owned 5 S-10 pickups brand new. This is my 4th Colorado. I may as well "do me". When I ordered my 2015, I ordered it in blue... when I got home from the dealer, they called me and said Laser Blue was not available yet for order, so I went with my second choice, Cyber Gray. Now, in 2019, I have the blue Colorado I wanted.1 point
