You're both right and wrong. Its both extremes, ya clowns... 100%, all those people crying about leaving, stayed put. Nobody had the nuts to actually DO what they said they'd do.6 points

Sorry for my part there. Just couldn't resist myself after certain folks just softballed it in like that lol. Been keeping myself busy too since I moved last month. My workshop/office/pseudo man cave has been getting a lot of attention over the last few weeks. Have to get some more plywood to finish the front wall. A shame the cost of wood right now makes it damn near a commodity.6 points

I think Olds is awesome, glad others feel the same way. When Covid is over, I want to go to Montreal and meet him in person. https://fordauthority.com/2020/11/super-slick-1956-ford-f-100-restomod-runs-on-coyote-power-video/6 points

Ford's F-150 has a HORRIBLE equipment 'linkage' system going on. Spec the 3.0L TD and try to pick certain wheels OR paint colors, and Ford kicks the diesel out & replaces it with a 5.0 V8. What the hell would the paint color have to do with the engine choice?? NICE XLT, Guard Green (you're welcome, 'blu!), 20" rims... NOPE, NO DIESEL FOR YOU!5 points

Robert lives in a Star Trek HoloDeck; a 'construct' I believe it's termed, where neo-futurism details convince the participants they're in an alternate reality, and the commonplace is 'strange'. It's a form of escapism.4 points

True which is why I've never been been registered as a Democrat or a Republican. Just two different peas of the same pod. Don't live in Arizona anymore. Moved back to NC the end of last year. Hiding in the cave now since mother nature is being a little soggy today. Flash flood warning for the next five hours.4 points

Keeping a US passport would allow me to live in several different places in retirement. I think saying the USA is good or bad, best or worst is insanely stupid. It's a country of 330 million people that's been around a couple huddred plus years. Lots of both good and bad in that time frame. Culturally, I am a midwesterner, and that is part of who I am so by default I am American. And as Americans we are more alike than we are different, I think. One more good but wet bike ride....then back to work. Different rider, still a great journey. I wish I had time and energy to buy a bike, but I am kind of maxed out in my life in so many different ways. '4 points

*sigh* Can’t seem to avoid politics anywhere, even on my car sites. It’s one of the reasons FB time is getting cut way down.....I’m open minded friendly person, and the soul crushing mad folks on all sides are just annoying now...... That said, I’ve been working on things around the house. Working on how to put bigger vents on the sides of the house attic to get more airflow as I am getting a little more moisture up there then I want. And decluttering all over the house- figure now is a good time for some changes.....4 points

Well, going in a business and buying something in person is something I haven't done since the before time (February).and I rarely ever use cash...can't remember the last time I used cash...I buy everything online, buy gasoline w/ a card... so it was a novel experience... this is a very, very strange year, after all...3 points

'Benzinga' (whatever that is) is reporting the Rivian pricing this morning. Seems Rivian will initially offer a 'launch edition' of the 2 trucks, but unlike the full boat Hummer Edition One, it's not a max spec version. Equipped with a middling 300 mile range battery pack, the R1T pickup will start at a commanding $75,000, while the R1S will be $77,500. Re-using the old Ford moniker; the "Explorer" is stated to start at $67,500, whereas the swiped Dodge (nee DeSoto) moniker "Adventurer" will be $77,500. Apparently these are trim levels. Around January of 2022, 250 mile range and 400 mile range variants will be available. It's curious that the 400 mile pack wasn't part of the 'launch edition', and that will undoubtedly be many thousands more in base price. - - - - - It shouldn't be necessary to again point out, but manufacturers and pundits all in on the fantasy that EV trucks will quickly replace IC trucks that start up to $30 grand cheaper, aren't being aware of how the existing consumer market functions. At these prices, these are niche products, not mainstream.3 points

The other persons sarcasm sensor works just fine. Yours however, seems to be on the fritz as evidenced by your above response. Again, so “cerebral” lol. That’s sarcasm btw.2 points

From the Random Thoughts Thread If you find this post too long to read, there is a shorter answer. Just go straight to the pic below. Im sure he caught the sarcasm. He was just being nice to me and playing nice for the sake of this community. Hostility is not a nice thing. But...you do have issues you need to work on. You dont seem to be a very tolerant or open minded guy. Very narrow and close minded. Or maybe you play a buffoon on the internets. Its cool. You are who you are. In real life or your internet persona. I used to like you in these forums. Until I realized you are a very negative person in here full of bizarre and quite hypocritical behavior. When you are having fun in here, you are quite amusing to me and Im assuming everyone else. But most of the time, when an opinion differs from yours, you are quite the troll. You dont allow for discourse and all you do is just bully yourself through....while also playing the victim. Quite bizarre for a 50 year old man. Like I said, you are who you are. And yes I take your post as an insult. You constantly make things personal. YOU...do that. But hypocritically bitch that everyone else does... short answer:2 points

No, didn't even think to look for LEDs. The good thing I did figure out how to take apart the sign to change the bulbs.2 points

Went to my local Ace Hardware this beautiful afternoon and actually had an in-person inside 'shopping experience' for the first time since February, even paid with 'cash' paper money instead of my usual online shopping w/ plastic. It was all strange and new, everyone masked up and 6 feet apart. But I had to do it, because sometimes the only way to find a very specific, strange sized lightbulb is to take the old one and compare with ones hanging on a wall (I was having no luck on Amazon). Now I have two new bulbs for my house number sign on the light post (the old bulbs had burnt out one-by-one since I've lived here). A tiny small, DIY victory amidst a really boring time working from home...2 points

Ohhhhh....my mother lives in Hendersonville, my sister in Black Mountain. I may have to drop in and buy you a few local brews and a pizza. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089M1KSF2?ref=ppx_pt2_dt_b_prod_image One of the next books I am going to read. On another note, it's amazing how stupid and uninformed car salespeople can be. Was looking at a Wrangler, just killing time before an appointment and kicking tires in the showroom. Asked the salesperson if it had the same 8 speed as the 300, as I really liked the transmission in the Chrysler 300. Salesperson was like..."no, the Wrangler uses a Torqueflight 727 3 speed, been around since the 60's. Nothing else will hold up to going off road like that."2 points

I do have something custom in mind for one wall (where my desk is) but reclaimed wood is a possibility for some of that as well. Thats where my woodworking guru cousin comes in lol. He comes into that stuff all the time and repurposes them. And insulation will go in as well since I'll be running separate heat and A/C when necessary.2 points

Flagship is what BMW has in their press release. I suspect the 0 to 62 mph under 5 seconds is so they can continue to tweak the controllers and I would expect a final figure to be around 4 seconds with the M edition being under 3 seconds. I know BMW has always had their EV family on the i moniker but to me they could and should have just put it into the existing family as a X5e SUV which would have made more sense to me. Will be interesting to see final numbers once they release for actual sale.2 points

Yeah...that is kinda stupid. But we knew that from awhile ago. #3 for sedans. #4 for coupes. Then they got the 4 door coupe thing plus they have the lifted hatch GT/CUV/station wagon thing... Not to mention the nonsensical engine displacement number system... Oh...I forgot. The M sport cars that just have M badging and nothing else then the got the M-light cars and then the fully on sport M cars... The idiotic iX naming scheme has nothing to do with the vehicle itself. Is this really a flagship tho? 0-60 in less than whatever seconds is a non-issue. Yes its BMW and it should BE a selling point, especially in comparison to a Tesla Model Y, but maybe we should get off of the speed performance numbers just a tad. Not defending BMW here, because I do acknowledge this particular Bimmer gets its lunch eaten with even ICE cars in this 0-60 performance criteria, but in reality, 0-60 in under 5 seconds in the real world is pretty darn good regardless. The EV stuff, if Bimmer's marketing numbers are gonna do exactly as they say it will do, while not Tesla beating numbers, they arent that shabby. I dont care enough for it to see how much this will sell for, but if it undercuts the Tesla Model Y by a good margin, well, it be a good start to actually sell some copies to the EV people. If this thing costs as much or more, its DOA. I aint gonna comment on the looks of it because, well... There is nothing I will say that correctly describes how it looks. (its horrid, but so are the other Bimmers that have gone in production since the last decade or so. Its horrid? Lets be honest. It aint that bad... Its on par with every other ICE or EV Bimmer to come out since a decade now. If we are honest with ourselves (right Blu?) its just as much of a joke as an ICE X3 or X1. If we wont bitch about those, then the iX is on par with what Bimmer has been doing all along since the turn of this century. (hence the downvote Blu...because I havent read anything negative about the X1 or X3 from your way...) (talking to Balthy while indirectly directing this to another poster...)2 points

'iX' ... does that mean '9'? How are BMW folk going to know where this slots without a kindergarten numbering scheme? 0-60 is slow for a flagship EV; X6 does it in 4.6 already. Isn't this supposed to be noticeably quicker as an electric? The interior bits are T-A-C-K-Y! That one panel with the white lettering on what 100% looks like plastic wood is garbage. Here; '82 Merc : The denim upholstery (with the schizo stitching) ... haven't seen that since the '70s Gremlins. The 'crystal' buttons I haven't seen since the '81-83 Imperial hood ornament. it LOOKS like it should slot in around the X3 level, but because BMW is going to have to charge $75 grand for it, the loyalist (again; lacking a number) are going to be bewildered into paralysis.2 points

Or how tens of thousands of folks, in a handful of deep red states, signed petitions to secede from the union in 2008 and 2012 when a black democrat became president and was then re-elected. We definitely saw how that worked out.2 points

Did more work on tach housing. Difficult staring point; tach is 3.375” dia, headlight housing is 7.75”. Getting closer tho. Prepped & primed hood springs. Also recently went over both hinge assemblies with a file; deburring & smoothing. Everything must be smooth. Going to try a phosphate bath for the assemblies instead of paint1 point

Please go. No one is stopping you. There's daily nonstop service from PHL by their own Lufthansa and some American carriers as well. Since you are seeming slightly anti-American at this juncture, I recommend Lufthansa. And, since you've never shown much of a penchant for foreign languages on here over the years, you will have one hell of a time learning to communicate in German.1 point
