  1. Congrats @balthazaron the truck order! Happy Christmas everyone, and I hope a healthy and prosperous 2021. We had a white Christmas here with 3 inches falling overnight and another 3 - 4 inches falling until this afternoon. I've already been out with the snow blower and it made quick work of the driveway any my neighbors driveway. Since I wasn't going through 10 - 12 inches of snow this time the battery did all of mine and the neighbors with 60% battery left over. When I was done, I threw one battery on the charger and set an alarm for myself for one hour and then went down and swapped batteries. I like how low maintenance this thing is going to be.

  5. We had pretty strong storm overnight, no power for the last 12 hours. Luckily just recently got generator and installed interlock switch for it.

  6. The only issue with Jeep was w few years ago when you could stand on a Jeep lot and nearly every model with a Jeep badge was designed by a different company. You'd have the Wrangler harking back to AMC/Chrysler days, the Grand Cherokee with its heavy Daimler influence, the Cherokee by Fiat, and depending on the year the Compass could be Fiat or old DCX/Mitsubishi, and your choice of Renegade (Fiat) or Patriot (DCX/Mitsubishi). So durability/reliability was very very model and year specific.

  7. ^^^ In comparison The Tesla Roadster is a battery electric vehicle based on the Lotus Elise that was produced by Tesla Motors, now known as Tesla inc. A Palo Alto California based car manufacturer that is also a technology company with its core technologies as the battery, the computer software and the proprietary motor. Tesla Motors would eventually start building a proprietary charging network all across the planet. The Roadster used lithium ion battery sells and the first electric car to travel to more than 200 miles per charge. Tesla would go on to sell 2 450 Roadsters in over 30 countries propelling Tesla to continue on in engineering and producing more electric cars. The Model S, Model X, Model 3 and Model Y while other vehicles are in the pipeline including a pick-up truck and a second generation Roadster. The Model S and Model 3 becoming smash hit successes. The other established gasoline powered car manufactures that are a century old, give or take, are currently scrambling to compete with Tesla Inc in the EV market.

  8. I think that, this Christmas, we should shower ocnblu with a veritable avalanche of "down" and "confused" votes, possibly in exponential form, as a gift for the many he has so liberally bestowed upon other members of our on-line community throughout this year. LOL. Sound like a plan?

  9. The Beechcraft Plainsman was a car made in 1946 by the Beech Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas. The Plainsman was fitted with an air cooled four cylinder Franklin engine driving a generator, which in turn powered four electric motors, one for each wheel. It was fitted with fully independent air suspension. It also had an aluminum body. It weighed 2,200 pounds, its top speed was 160 miles per hour, and could carry six passengers. Only two were built.

  10. Many of us remember the exact time and place we heard some songs. That's the deal with me and this one. I was in a nice rental car, running the A/C, and driving along the curves near San Timoteo Canyon along the 60, instead of using flatter I-10, going from L.A. out to the Coachella Valley (basically Palm Springs and the many desert towns that surround it). The song matched the fairly empty roadway at the time. There were some decent songs that are very '90s in character.

  22. Exciting solar panel news. A berlin scientific group combined two types of solar cell technology and ended up with a solar panel getting 30% efficiency. In other words it captured the energy of the sun at a 30% success rate. One would ask why is that such a big deal? Current Solar Panels are only 19 to 20% efficient in capturing the sun's energy. A 10% increase in capture rate means more power and faster energy for recharging. The scientist also go on to say they believe they can increase the efficiency rate even more as they move forward in their research. Currently this will help to drive Solar Power energy capture to a much higher level. Scientists set a solar cell efficiency world record - Electrek First experience review of the Mustang Mach-E that is just now beginning to get delivered to dealerships.

  24. Chemical Brothers 'Block Rockin' Beats'. A time and place song, driving around Centennial, Colorado in my buddy Steve's black '91 Acura NSX on a sunny April Saturday in 1998. He had just bought the car in Portland, OR and driven it back to Colorado, I went over to his house and we went for a drive in it--I drove it also..we went out 470 to Morrison and up into the foothills.. This track was playing...first mid-engine car I'd driven.. will never forget the sound of that car under acceleration and this track... anytime I hear this track, I remember that car and first day I saw and drove it..good times. 27. Tesla not only has the best EV tech and software (and the yahoo dude does mention that the Mach E compares and competes very favorably with the Model Y), Tesla also has a better charging infrastructure. His words: And well, I do realize that one component for success for EVs is a substantial and reliable and kick ass charging system. And if the rest of the EV makers out there will rely on a shytty one like this, it will be an uphill battle. On the other hand, Tesla will continue to rack of those EV sales, and if electrifying the world will be SOLEY made by Tesla, then so be it...

  28. Article from autoblog on an Electrify America experience. Seems interesting. >>Guilty as slowly charged: Electrify America site lazily energizes a Ford Mustang Mach-E<< https://autos.yahoo.com/guilty-charged-electrify-america-delivers-153000842.html >>"...I saw the charger screen insisting electricity was being delivered at 74.2 kilowatts. That was only about half the 150-kilowatt rate touted on the machine’s placard, and I would have happily taken it. The actual trickle of juice going into the Ford was 20 kilowatts at best; a fraction of the expected rate, and only about twice as fast as a piddling, 11-kilowatt Level 2 home charger."<< - - - - - Im my recent research into local spots via plugshare, I saw that inoperable chargers were a very regular thing. Here's another example- 12 plugs with 2 inoperable. Not that big a deal here, but check the article to see a 150 kW charger deliver 20 kW (and he tried all 10).

  37. I think your review is spot on. I actually sort of like these cars, that said, I look at it as more of a Toyota than a Lexus competing with the BMW and Merc's. I like the showy looks and especially in yellow. Why I wouldn't get one, an interior dash, that is right there in line with the dull blocky Japanese car dashes of the 80's and 90's....it's like not a day moved on since then. The v8 seems to be impressive, even if its hp is down compared to others. At the end of the day, a well loaded v8 Camaro, way more desirable even. I mean, a 2020 Corvette can be had for same money btw.....

  41. The Mandalorian A not too shabby series Id say. Kept my son and I occupied for a few minutes and quenched our thirst for Star Wars. Battlebots is next. Found out that a new season has begun...maybe? At least I think its a new season and not a rerun. I recorded it on Sunday and we will watch it sometime between tomorrow and XMAS eve.

  42. Welcome to Cheers and Gears Alisa! Home Made Chicken Noodle Soup is the Bomb! I start with roasting some chickens and then debone them and use the rest of the chicken to make natural broth. Add in all the veggies and simmer for hours. Best base you can have to build a yummy Chicken Noodle Soup. Good luck.

  44. This guy has a very interesting channel; interviews a lot of... let's say the downtrodden. This video tho, is both sad and fascinating. I sometimes get drawn to these stories- the extremes of the Human Experience. I'm a pretty good internet detective, so not only was I quickly able to pinpoint their home via the background in the video, but I found that there were 15 children. Betty the talker, Ray & Lorraine are 3, & the guy in the green shirt reading the paper is another brother. But this isn't inbreeding- I think it's genetics/birth defects (I did their family tree back 3 generations).
