GLE has a $75k ATP according to iseecars, the E-class has the same price structure so I imagine its the same, and GLE and E are 2 of their top 3-4 sellers. GLS's is $95k and it sells about as well as a GLA that transacts in the high 40s, so average those 2 together and that is about $70k. AMG GT 4 door wasn't around 3-4 years ago, and new G-wagon since then that has sold well, so that should offset the A-class. $64k average seems to make sense. S-class is down now due to the changeover and there aren't any to sell since Europe got the first production run of the new S-class but it is arriving here this summer.3 points

Actually...they ARE a volume brand in the USA. https://www.mbusa.com/en/all-vehicles#vbg-suvs What Im about to post...STRAIGHT from the USA M-B website..are all lease queen specials...meant to get the lessee to spend the least amount of $$$s per month so M-B could roll-out as many of these as possible for volume and market share. The figures YOU love to educate us with when you try to tell us about how LUXURY Mercedes is and how M-B dominates luxury sales and when you talk about M-B in general....2 points

I didn't realize Daimler finally pulled the plug on smart- about a decade too late. Good riddance. The KBB chart seems to make sense then, tho I question whether Daimler is 'reverse-sandbagging'... with the a-class in addition to the CLA, PLUS the 50% decline in s-class sales / the killing off of the s-class coupe... I'm not seeing how the ATP is up around 3-4 thousand over a couple years ago. Smells fishy. Of course it is.2 points

If they make in a year or two Maverick with hybrid powertrain AND awd with regular transmission (no CVT), or fully electric one with AWD, it would be perfect for my needs.2 points

I know it doesn't matter but that first pic, the wheel is also on the curb... Regardless, I get your point, lol. @David, the 10spd is for RWD applications and their 8/9spd is for FWD applications. (I thought it was originally a 9spd co-developed with GM but I see them only using 8spd versions).2 points

(Remembers living in Arizona for twelve years and seeing all those "chicks" driving useless jacked up/lifted Pick Ups") In other words, it shouldn't matter if it is a "chick" truck. Just skip the fact that Fords best selling full size pick up comes with a bed that is a whole foot longer than the much smaller Maverick. The 10 speed is for RWD applications I believe. The 8 speed should be fine.2 points

That looks really good. At a price point south of the Ranger, this might be an awesome little truck. The ten speed in my Ranger is fantastic, would not want a CVT. Moab, Utah.2 points

Yeah, that seems a little odd and I cannot see it lasting long if the owner utilizes the max payload/towing all that often.2 points

Saw the MT articles on it. Great starting price point but I really wish they had not slapped a CVT in there for the hybrid.2 points

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. After the 747, it was my favorite aircraft on which to cross the pond. Since the A340's engines were smaller, it still managed to look sleek. This one (could even be a 340-200) belonged to Air France. It's sad that Olympic of Greece no longer crosses the Atlantic and is now a Europe-only carrier. Here was theirs, with a great paint scheme. This one (probably a 340-300) from Iberia is either taking off from or landing at Madrid. Poetic! And, finally, here's one from Air Canada (probably a 340-600 with those bigger engines) with their recent and cleaner livery. (I see the tip of a snow capped mountain peak in the background.)2 points

Boeing looked to compete with the Concord jet and had developed mock ups of the Boing 2707 supersonic jet with the mock ups built in Everett Washington. Why Did Boeing Never Produce Its Supersonic 2707? - Simple Flying Boeing launch customer for the 2707 was PanAm and they had this conceptual art that Boeing did: United Airlines was the second launch customer. If you ever get a chance to visit Seattle, you can actually check out the Mock Model in the Airplane Museum Boeing has. E class is bundled with the CLS... In effect, putting the C Class in 3rd place... With the exception of the GLE, what I posted are in effect the models that sell the most in the US... Their bread and butter lease queens... 7600 C Class 7000 GLBs 15 000 GLCs THAT right there, is a LOT (30 000 units) of $38 000 - $43 000 vehicles. And I know those are just starting price points. Id say the avg lease prices of these probably leave the store at 45 000 - 46 000 dollars. Still... If you take a looksie at Buick... https://www.buick.com/ These fall under a Buick level of competition and YOU yourself dont consider Buick as luxury... This little exercise just brings home the points: 1. Mercedes is not entirely luxury...ESPECIALLY to what their bread and butter vehicles selll at IN the USA... 2. Further proof that Mercedes-Benz is akin to General Motors rather than Cadillac. And if we factor in the HOME market of Europe...those A Classes, CLAs and C Class cars are just Chevrolets for Europe...1 point

And by 'go away'; allow me to clarify. Via my experiences I place sales persons ABOVE marketing; I've found them to be more honest that the ads/press releases.1 point

That is impressive. Seems like too much work for me to get in and out of though. Id rather just do a hood/roof slide and jump right in... faster, cleaner and more efficient. Plus...muscle car!!!1 point

Interesting to read about what happened there. I'm not sure on the accuracy of this because of the age and I'm not sure what Ford REALLY ended up using but this said they didn't utilize the 9spd from GM. https://www.motortrend.com/news/ford-gm-nine-speed-transmission-shared-news/ " Several years ago, we reported that Ford and General Motors had agreed to work together on a pair of next-generation transmissions. GM was tasked with developing a nine-speed automatic for front-wheel-drive vehicles while Ford worked on a 10-speed for rear-drive applications. In theory, they'd be able to use the other's transmission and each save money. In reality, things went a little differently. Automotive News reports that while GM has been happy to use Ford's 10-speed in several vehicles such as the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and Cadillac Escalade, Ford has yet to use GM's nine-speed. Instead, Ford developed a modified eight-speed version that will appear in the 2019 Focus, as well as several other 2019 models. It began work on two additional eight-speed automatics—one for performance use and one for smaller engines. The reason? GM's nine-speed didn't provide enough of a boost in fuel economy. "The small efficiency benefit did not justify the added weight and cost of an extra clutch and gear," a Ford spokesperson told Automotive News in a statement. "We've engineered our nine-speeds for even more refined shifts," a GM spokesperson told Automotive News in a statement. "Smaller steps between gears in a nine vs. an eight-speed enable smoother shifts for customers." "1 point

I'd drive one of them. Fully loaded for like 35ish-k and it would do everything I need. The 4.5ft bed is short but I think payload would be just fine as most of the mid sizers(and even crew cab half tons) are in the 1500lb area code.1 point

Have to say that I hope they revamp the front end of the Ranger to more closely align with the rest of the truck famliy. Overall a good lookin lineup. Looking at the press release, I have to say I am not impressed with some of the power figures: Hybrid - 2.5L Atikinson-cycle four-cylinder hybrid powertrain - 191HP / 155 lb-ft of torque with CVT. EPA-estimated 40 mpg city / 37 mpg combined. with 13.8 gallon tank, 500 miles per tank. 1,500lbs payload / 2,000 lbs towing. 2.0L EcoBoost, 250hp / 277 lb-ft of torque with 8sp transmission, FWD or AWD configuration. 4K towing package doubles the towing to 4,000 lbs Apple/Android system inside, FIT's system for those with 3D printers, Co-Pilot 360, etc. FlexBed with tie-downs, slots, etc for customization of bed use. Two 110 outlets in the bed to go along with USB and 110 outlets in the cab. Bed is 4.5 feet long. Maverick to be offered in 3 trim levels, XL, XLT and Lariat at launch. FX4 package can be added to the XLT or Lariat AWD versions only. Over all a decent little truck, only mistake I see is the CVT on the Hybrid.1 point

I give ya 1 (ONE) valid point, I zoned on the Euros versus Dollars. Yet with that said, STOP the BULLSHIT of saying everything is in one pot when Daimler breaks out the Truck/Bus business from the auto business. So Mercedes-Benz converted for US dollars had a Q1 of $4,678,683,690.00 Dollars. Daimler Truck & Buses converted for US Dollars had a Q1 of $630,970,620.00 Dollars. GM as I posted is $4.4 billion US dollars. How is GM not competing with Mercedes-Benz Especially when it is in less markets than Mercedes-Benz? PowerPoint Presentation (gm.com) As I STATED, POST LINKS TO THE DATA. Your ATP of MB means nothing as it is just a fictional figure from your mind. QUESTION: How do you explain the 2.0% market share Mercedes-Benz has in the US compared to GM's market share? Compared to GM market share of 17.3% for the USA. Looking at the detailed breakout, MB does not list an ATP. So Post the Link to where you are getting your ATP figure. Q1 retail unit sales Mercedes-Benz | Daimler I will say that UNLIKE MB that has been vague on their BEV roadmap with only a few items announced, GM seems to be willing to post their clear roadmap of 30 new EVs by 2025. This is what TESLA will fail at competing against as they take years to get a single new product out. GM is going to get 30 out in the next 4 years. PowerPoint Presentation (gm.com)1 point

This, along with the 787, 717, and A380 never had a fatality in all its years of flying IIRC. India, several places in Europe, South America, and South Africa/Namibia are ahead of it on my bucket list.1 point

Again, it’s just under $60K, not $64,900. You even used those same vans as an excuse why it was lower than Cadillac. Your figure was for Daimler.1 point
-
How many times does this have to be explained to you? Mercedes numbers vs Cadillac is misleading as Mercedes has to cover a larger gamut of vehicles from top to bottom, than Cadillac. GM has Chevrolet (The Vette anyway) and to some extent Buick to compete with certain vehicles from Mercedes. And David is just playing your game when it comes to what to count and not what to count, so maybe you ought to sit that one out lol. It wasn't when you thought Mercedes had the better ATP because you decided to count in ALL of Daimler with that figure. Dollars and Euros David lol. Those numbers are in Euros.1 point

Disconnected: starter wire, shift linkage, trans mount, some sort of heat shield, 1 motor mount bolt, speedo cable. Left: other motor mount bolt, oil pressure wire, coil wire (to harness). Fun laying under a cob-web-dripping, rust flaking car undoing fasteners last tightened in 1964. Talked to my friend who's motor is in the shop right now- he says maybe another week or 2. Them my bro's '65 GTO motor goes in, with a promised '2.5-3 month' turnaround. Then mine. Mine is going to be a dream- so many pieces cleaned, painted, threaded chased, etc. Going to completely disassemble the motor other than the valves/valve springs. Plus it's all original- no whackadoodle retro-fits to figure out.1 point

Cool History, Ford Motor Company is involved in an extensive restoration of the Michigan Central Station which will also become their BEV Building for future products. In the wall a couple workers wrote a note to the future and put it in a prohibition bottle of Stroh's beer. Bottle is stamped 7-19-13 as in 1913 the year the station was built. Lucky the two men working on the plaster in that section saved the bottle rather than just nocking it down with other trash and useless bits and gave it to Ford where their Archivist have been saving from any further decay the history of the station. Seems unknown rooms and other artifacts have been found from cloths to adding machine, tickets, etc. Read the story here: Message Mystery at Michigan Central Station: Ford’s Latest Reveal is Pre-Prohibition-Era Beer Bottle Found During Restoration | Ford Media Center Ford Ford Sales for the month of May 2021 shows a 184% increase in BEV sales. Seems since the frosty winter storm that took down Texas, the Ford F-150 Hybrid is now in high demand by people wanting the ability to have the generator and back up battery of the truck available. It doesn't even need a super-fat rear tire, just one that looks proportional to the rest of the bike. Also, I don't have much hopes this makes it to production. They basically have a "GoFundMe" going with $27,700 raised with a goal of $500,000. I know they almost certainly have private funding but still asking for money have me quite skeptical.. https://wefunder.com/zaiser.motors1 point

I could really see this in the driveway next to the Ranger. Getting close to 27 MPG out of it, which is insane for a pickup truck. Plenty of Power, enjoying it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta_Kream https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/the-black-keys-delta-kream/ For Drew, Oldshurst, Balthazar...kind of cool how old Oldsmobiles still figure into our culture 50 years later. Headphones and speakers for listening to music...I like both equally much, headphones reveal a lot of details and speakers give you a more physical sound1 point

I had to respond. I grew up with JAL ... sort of. When I was a kid, I'd ride my bike with a friend to LAX and, at the time, JAL had a beautiful 747. Didn't they all? We'd go up to the theme building observation deck and got a 360 degree view of all the terminals and the runways. JAL does use the Boeing 787 Dreamliner quite a bit and I've seen it land at LAX. What a beautiful wing design. I really thought JAL would be a Boeing 777-X customer. I guess not. I am not an expert on the B-777, having only flown on it just once. United used the 2-5-2 seating on the one I flew on from DC to Denver and onward. I didn't like that layout. I am not a fan of Airbus because it's Airbus and not Boeing. I think this new A-350, with its "masked" cockpit window, is sort of ugly. But I can't argue with the seating layout of 2-4-2 on the A-330 and the A-340. The A-340 is fading away and it's my favorite Airbus product, with its 4 smaller engines, but operators don't like how thirsty it is. The A-330 is comfortable enough, except for one really long flight from Frankfurt to Calgary, with a connection back home to the Pac NW, that was too long and was pushing against strong headwinds. Boeing's "Dreamliner" is just that:1 point

Yet they still do it while fighting has gone down in the NHL (as ccap stated). BTW, fighting is technically against the rules in the NHL as well. In fact, fighting is against the rules in every sport EXCEPT where it actually involves fighting yet fights still happen in basketball, football, soccer, etc. Them lofty standards though lol. In fact, here is over 2 hours of fights from European hockey from 2003-2019 yet it is against the rules (as you stated).1 point
