Jenny Conlee Chiwoniso Maraire William Bolcom Jason Webley Chris Taylor Ricky Horror Mark Morris Tamara Gee Lanny Ross Trey Azagthoth Wesley Stromberg Zacky Vengeance Joe Greene Drew Chadwick Have to say, Seattle might not be sung about much, but the number of singers, musicians and composers from here is surprising to me. I am sure since this list is from the late 90s that there are even more now.4 points

I think of Seattle as a green and rainy tech hub, known for '90s grunge (I love Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, not much into Nirvana), home of Starbucks, historical home of Boeing.. I like it there..if I ever move back West, it's near the top of my list.4 points

Spring has been so rainy here in NE Ohio...the upside is all the rain produces green...lush green grass, trees, bushes. My yard looks great and the local parks (metro, county, state, and national) are beautifully green now. The downside is mud, mud, and more mud. Did I mention mud? I do love a climate w/ 4 distinct seasons as much as I truly, truly, deeply loathe deserts--may I never have to spend time in AZ or NV or any of those fecal dusty shitholes again... A couple pics from the National Park 10 min from my house..3 points

Don’t know about Young but most locals there would probably say that bands like Mudhoney, early Soundgarden, and Mother Love Bone started the grunge scene there. Nirvana just got the first big break is all. And Seattle can keep that rain. That is way too much for my taste.3 points

A LOT of musical genius came out of Seattle. Im very impressed by that. Im not so impressed by all that rain. But then again, Ive NEVER been that way, so what the hell do I know about being Sleepless in Seattle (pop culture reference ) and the rain Seattle accumulates... Nirvana was the group that is mistakenly credited with "inventing" or "introducing" grunge to the world. Some say it was Neil Young. Maybe Nirvana was the first to popularize grunge.3 points

I too, love Pearl Jam. Of course Boeing. I was just using the most simplistic stereotype of each region be funny. For shytes and giggles. I have nothinh against Seattle. Other than maybe, the rain.3 points

I agree 1000% about Nirvana. Vastly overrated. And it wasn’t taken as being serious Olds. Just pointing it out that Seattle was known for more than grunge at one point. Well of course because those are much larger population hubs with longer histories than Seattle. For a city it’s size though, it has supplied some pretty damn good music.3 points

@David A group from QUEENS singing about California!!! New York rappers trading places with California's own beach bum Beach Boys doin' the wipeout They all got that New York Groove, baby PS: Dell Griffith and Neil Page. You havent seen this movie? You are missin' out. Its a holiday classic. Its reallyy really funny. I suggest you watch it, around Thanksgiving, of course. Its a GREAT movie!!!3 points

I did a sad face thingy vote, because its not funny from the point of view of your HR director. But regarding Elon Musk's leadership, concerning himself with everything important of what is going on in this world, EXCEPT for actually running Tesla correctly, its phoquing funny!!! 1. Lends Ukraine his Starlink satellites to counter Russian blackouts and propaganda. (Good thing) 2. Tries to buy Twitter all in the name of freedom of speech, except he ignores misinformation platforms are not beneficial to the freedoms of anybody. And he forgets that he doesnt actually have the LIQUID cash to buy Twitter, and the Tesla investors are not exactly continually giving him money to fund a Twitter buy out. (Bad thing) 3. Concerns himself with a lawsuit case that has really nothing to do with him. He might have dated Amber Turd, and he gave her some money to help her feed her personality disorder lies, but really, nobody gave a shyte about his opinions on the matter, INCLUDING his former narcissistic girlfriend. (Bad thing) (He just proved himself to be a beta male cuck) 4. Instead of focusing on his OWN legal battles. Tesla's own sexual abuse claims in the workplace AND the NHTSA probe into Tesla's autopilot failures... (Bad thing) Sandy Munro's MAIN complaint about Tesla has ALWAYS been Tesla's sloppy manufacturing. And THAT hasnt improved. And Sandy Munro thinks that Tesla's sloppy manufacturing aint gonna be a problem and the other OEMs will fail but not Tesla? What a joke! Hence why your story is also funny!!! I have come to LOATHE Tesla... (because of Elon)2 points

I liked the Milan a lot.. it had just a little bit more flare than a Fusion and it had the hint of being more luxury than a Ford.... not much, but enough that Mercury might have been able to pull away from Ford had they been allowed. My Aunt had one of the last Mountineers and she would say she'd never get an Explorer. She has an Aviator now... so... true.2 points

1. HR Director took delivery of her brand new Tesla Model Y on Friday. 2. By Wednesday it was on a flatbed, stone dead, getting trucked back to Tesla for repairs.2 points

Very Cool Robert, I will say that for transplants to Washington, I think our cold spring and rain is getting to people due to the road rage issues that have sprung up over the last week here. Today we get hit with a 1, 2 punch of two atmospheric rivers. Today is raining hard, supposed to get up to 3 inches of rain today. Then a break mid morning on Friday before River 2 hits us with up to 6 inches of rain from Friday afternoon through Sunday night. Everything here is very green, lakes filling up nicely, no water shortage here like southern California, Nevada or Utah are having to deal with.2 points

Again joke and sarcasm... But you got to admit. More of the WORLD's pop culture, not just the US pop culture, talks about NYC and California than they do about Seattle... If they actually do talk about Seattle at all...2 points

I dont hate grunge. Not my favorite style. But I dont hate it. I HATE Nirvana though. But its more for the group and singer rather than the style of music. But when all is said and done, Its called a joke. Sorry to disappoint you in you thinking I was serious. I thought maybe the Back to the Future Gif was an indication...2 points

Yea, why bother singing about the Bluest sky's are in Seattle, we have so much rain! Grunge is blah to me but then most music is blah in one way or another. Little old Lady from Pasadena is another over rated place much like NY, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, etc. etc. etc. Super Stock Dodge is interesting, but not reliable, but then what is from Ford or GM or any of them, they all wear out and have issues in one way or another. Spiderman is Meh, never been a fan of him Batman is OK, but then again, nothing special other than rich enough to afford the toys to make him different. Superman is cool, but then he grew up in the farm belt, so a well-grounded man. Only idiot parents would leave their kid home alone multiple times. Nope, not sold on the actor, story line or the city. Dell and Neil who? never heard of them, clearly not worth my time to look up. Crocodile Dundee returned to the outback, better place than either NY or LA. Yea, about the cesspool of bacteria in the subway and taxis, hard pass, NY can keep it along with all the other problems they face. Could car less about roller skating, surfer lifestyle, hot rodding is cool, but then it can be done anywhere. Agree totally Starbucks coffee sucks, but then so does coffee in general, hate the smell, taste, etc. Worthless drink, does not touch my lips. NYC has some cool music schools, but otherwise not much else except for inflated egos, excess moron lawyers and extremely greedy financial market folks. Hatred, nope, you were just being honest on your viewpoint, and I can respect that! After all, we all have viewpoints, much like we all have assholes!2 points

They dont make songs about Seattle tho... Of ALL the musical genius that came out of Seattle, and there is a LOT, NONE have sung about Seattle... If you could make it there, you could make it anywhere is talking about NY not Seattle. The little old lady who drives a super stock Dodge is from Pasadena, NOT Seattle. NYC is home to Batman, Superman, Spiderman. Macaulay Culkin was left alone IN New York, NOT Seattle. (Originally in Chicago) Dell Griffin and Neil Page were working IN NY to get to Chicago. They wouldnt even think about being in Seattle one iota... (cute little reference there) Crocodile Dundee visited NY AND Los Angeles. NOT Seatltle. New York is FAMOUS for its subway system and taxis... LA is famous for its hot rodding, roller skating, surfer lifestyle. NYC and LA overcrowded and overpriced? Lets talk about overcrowded and overpriced...coffee from Starbucks. How about we add another adjective starting with over. Overrated coffee from Starbucks. California has its own music sound. Same for NYC. NYC was home to many musical sounds. Seattle has...grunge ? Whoa. Where did all that hatred come from???2 points

There is a war that has just started in the auto industry, and this is the transformation from ICE or internal combustion engine autos to EV or electric vehicles. The battle ground will be as much in the variations of the EVs that come from the global auto companies as will it be the power train and especially the battery packs. Sila the material solutions company spent the last 10 years perfecting their material science to move away from rare earth elements as much as possible and to increase density of today's lithium-ion battery packs. To move into the next decade as a material solutions company, Sila has purchased a 600,000-square-foot warehouse in Moses Lake, Washington home to Carbon fiber manufacturing used by Boeing and BMW. Moses lake can now add lithium-anode battery materials to their manufacturing portfolio. Sila HQ is based in Alameda, CA, but like all things, they wanted as green as possible production of their new lithium-anode battery materials and was attracted to Washington state due to the abundant hydropower. Here Sila will manufacture their silicon-based anode battery material that will allow them to produce enough material yearly to power 500 million mobile phones and up to 500,000 EVs yearly with growth on-site to produce enough material to power up to 10 million EVs per year. Depending on the size of the cells, power density will be increased greatly as the next-gen batteries and the Sila Lithium-Anode battery material drops straight in to replace old graphite anode battery material without changing the process or equipment battery cell manufactures have in place, enabling battery suppliers to increase density and factory output without any real downtime. Due to density improvement with Lithium-Anode material, the batteries get smaller while keeping the same power or if size is perfect, the density allows the small batteries to get more powerful. Best part is this new Lithium-Anode material allows all batteries to charge quickly as it is compatible with current DC fast charging technology up to 800V. Gain to all industries that use this new anode material, but especially to the auto industry where longer range is achieved in the same battery footprint, faster charging performance equaling efficient charge times and lower cost batteries due to material drop into existing production systems helping to push down the cost per kWh. Example of the gains made is in the WHOOP 4.0 personalized digital fitness and health coach wearable devices and the first to use the Sila Lithium-Anode material. The gain made for this device (WHOOP 4.0 Press Release) was a 17% energy density improvement in a smaller battery, 33% reduction in device size, 5-day battery life with a waterproof battery pack for on-the-go charging and more. WHOOP Body | Optimized for Any-Wear™ Heart Rate Monitoring Sila Lithium-Anode material is in wear-able products and will soon be on the market in mobile phones, they talk about EVs, but who will be their first customer? Mercedes-Benz has chosen Sila as their Lithium-Anode material supplier for the production EQG electric G-Class SUV giving this SUV their most advanced battery pack with more than 800 Wh/I at the cell level. The testing of the Sila Lithium-Anode battery material made headlines in the real world road test of the VISION EQXX cover here earlier by Cheers and Gears. Per Mercedes the G-Wagon will be available for sale mid-decade, so around 2025 or so. The Sila Lithium-Anode battery technology while starting in the EQG electric G-Wagon will eventually get pushed into all of the EQ product line as Mercedes uses this to replace their current battery cell tech that is being sold in the first release of their EQS sedan. Mercedes has stated that as their principal Lithium-Anode supplier, depending on model of the EQ product line, their EVs will have up to a 40% increase in power density depending on model chosen. Sila has committed to America global leadership in the transition to new energy storage era as this new production facility sits on 160 acres of land close to rail lines for convenient and efficient shipping to all types of companies wanting to buy their material solution. This gives them plenty of long-term growth as the initial 600,000-square-foot facility will support up to 50 GWh of cell production with the production line coming online in the second half of 2024 with full production by the start of 2025. This site has the ability to grow up to 750 GWh of production depending on use allowing this American based company to excel in both innovation and manufacturing of silicon lithium-anode battery material for global consumption. For those that are wondering if Sila is getting any federal government help as the current U.S. administration has made climate change and ramping up of U.S. battery manufacturing a focus point, Sila CEO Gene Berdichevsky has state Sila is NOT receiving any federal help for this new factory and the production of Silicon Lithium-anode material that will replace the graphite currently used in Lithium-Ion cells.1 point

As for the last part, it had to have been about economies of scale, so they had to stay in FoMoCo. These 2 vehicles shared so many components, notably their powertrains. As for the cars themselves, there is no doubt that if I was looking at these 2 vehicles, I would have opted for the Milan. The difference of ~$500 to $1,000 (at the time they were on the market) probably wouldn't matter to people who keep their cars for a long time. That's also a cheap price tag to avoid an ongoing cognitive dissonance problem! Hearing what Elon Musk thinks of everything is annoying and it was the same way when Bill Gates was the VIP in the spotlight. (On the other hand, Warren Buffett seems to make insightful and reasonable observations, for the most part.) I tuned out to Elon and to Tesla a long time ago. I don't even bother to study or analyze Tesla cars all that much since they're more ugly than not.1 point

The random things that went through my head in the last few days: Pushing the cart down the aisles at the supermarket tells me that, from last year, it looks like the price of grocery items has gone up 20% to 25%. The current gas prices are really, really bad for the discretionary travel industry and have caused me to cancel plans. I am disgusted to read or listen to the news to learn that a certain type of criminal event seems to occur just about daily now and the "innocence lost" factor is becoming a much bigger problem in this country. It's amazing to see that, in looking at the Ford stable, there are so many Fusions and Milans (4s and 6s) on the road, in excellent physical and mechanical condition, and their owners do not want to part with them. There was a Milan in my rear view mirror tonight and it remains a handsome and timeless vehicle. This is a 2010.1 point

Not entirely true. “Original Fire” by Audioslave is about Seattle and their music scene in the early 90s.1 point

Although I like Sandy Munro, I dont understand how he could come to a conclusion that only 3 (presumably he is ONLY talking about the ones from the US) automakers to survive when he 1. hasnt really seen anything Ultium from GM because GM hasnt really launched anything Ultium just yet therefore cannot possibly see what or how Utlium will do in the market place. He hasnt been able to see and give an opinion on Ultium on how good or bad or how it compares to Tesla, Ford and Rivian... How does HE know what tech the Lyriq will have? How does HE know what the public will do for the Lyriq? How does HE know how the EV Silverado will fare against the F150 EV both in the market place and tech wise? 2. Hasnt really seen anything of concrete from Rivian. Other than that one SUV... And isnt Rivian currently having production woes and financial woes? Let them get by the chip shortage, the inflation, the production woes of 2022 and 2023 and possibly 2024 and THEN we could talk about Rivian becoming the new Big 3 from Detroit... Is Rivian even from Detroit? 3. Ford. Nothing really concrete from Ford either. Other than the Mach E. The F150 EV aint out yet. He hasnt seen it to tear it down... Pretty bold statements to make also considering that Tesla's quality issues are a huge concern and Tesla's manufacturing capabilities are STILL questionable REGARDLESS if people will always flock to Tesla. People cant buy a Tesla if Tesla cant produce the cars to meet demand. IF Ford is THAT good, then people WILL go to Ford if Tesla cant meet demand. And they (Tesla) CANT meet demand. They increase production, quality goes further down the shyytter... Tesla stays neutral to where they can comfortably build, produce and have decent quality, and it WONT be enough. GM will further get left over sales... especially if Utlium is that good as they say it is... And they means not only GM engineers, other folk not named Sandy Munro... He is like, dooming GM without ANY knowledge... He doomed the Mustang Mach E BEFORE he tested it... He tested it, he NOW believes Ford will survive and continue to be Big 3. He doomed Tesla too at one time... As much as I like him, I thought he was a blowhard then, and with this, I think he continues to be a blowhard and full of himself... Although I DO acknowledge the importance of what he does. I DO acknowledge his knowledge. However, he is like many of them, too phoquing cocky. Bob Lutz, Peter DeLorenzo, himself (Sandy Munro), all cut from the same know-it-all cloth blowhards...1 point

I used to have to do yearly tradeshows in NY City and hated it, smelly, decay and the subway system is nasty dirty and smelly. So glad no more tradeshows are done in that overpriced, over crowded place. Yet, I get the photographic possibilities of living there. Still way to crowded for me to ever go back again. On the other hand while the sunsets can be amazing, southern California is crazy crowded too and has it's own weird smell of decay and way too many people that do not care about others property and damage it then you have the lack of clean water, restrictions are in place for most of southern California and the heat sucks. Yup will pass on living or visiting either place.1 point

I find it funny that SMK is teaching German to David. "And S-class is Sonder-klass." I also find it funny that SMK is eluding that E class signifies Executive segment. Pseudo factual but 100% wrong... Im also going to teach German. Before the 1990s, D and E were used by Mercedes to signify D for Diesel and E for Fuel injection. Fuel injection in German starts with the letter E. In the 1990s however, because fuel injection was used in all applications, Mercedes did change the placement of the letter E to the front of the numbers to signify something else, the class below the S Class. Biased fanboys want it to mean Executive class...but it be wrong. Mercedes runs with it, because good marketing, but the narrative is wrong. The W124 would become the E200 in the 1990s rather than 200 E or D 1990s 1980s But nothing executive about it... This photo has back to back generations of E Class cars. Both plebian taxis...1 point
