@trinacriabob @Robert Hall @oldshurst442 @Drew Dowdell FYI, since we were in lockdown during my 30th Anniversary and now in year 31 but things opening up, last week my kids surprised my wife and I by taking us away to Maui for a 7-day celebration of our 30th wedding anniversary. I will post a review of the two auto's we had, a 2022 Kia Sorrento and a 2019 Ford Escape. Post a few pics of the trip and beaches. Sorry I was not around to help keep an eye on the news and post, but I will say it was a very weird feeling as my kids surprised us last Friday and we flew out that night. The kids even had talked to my boss to keep things secret and got me the week off and took all my electronics other than camera, so I truly was unplugged. Weirdest feeling ever. Saw lots of cool old autos in Maui, will expand on this later too. Flew in last night at midnight. Cool seeing about the new Hybrid Hornet. Surprised no one has posted about the NEW CHALLANGER/CHARGER Concept. Stellantis Media - Performance Made Us Do It: Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept Previews Brand’s Electrified Future (stellantisnorthamerica.com) Image Gallery here People can bitch and cry all they want about the death of ICE and the big block engines, but I say the future is Bright for EV Muscle cars. You can hate the synthetic sound, but I can also turn it off and enjoy the quiet with the performance or have a special built sound. hq_15759.mp4 @ 2:30 you can hear the new sound of the Dodge Charger. hq_15758.mp4 Then we have the updated Blazer EV pictures of Police Pursuit vehicles, so you know they will be ultra-quiet to nail those of us with heavy feet. Chevrolet Blazer - 2023 BLAZER EV ON THE JOB — AND ON PATROL In addition to the “civilian” models of the new Blazer EV, Chevrolet will offer a specially developed Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) models. Based on the Blazer SS model, the Blazer EV PPV will have the largest Ultium battery in the lineup and will be available in rear wheel drive or with a dual motor all-wheel drive system. The PPV will use the Blazer SS high performance front Brembo brakes to help ensure short stopping distances. The purpose-built Blazer EV PPV model features a police specific interior designed for police officers with ample room to accommodate emergency equipment and gear. “The possibilities for the Blazer EV’s commercial and law enforcement applications are almost endless,” said Ed Peper, vice president of GM Fleet. “Along with zero-tailpipe-emissions performance, it reduces the number and frequency of certain maintenance requirements typically associated with fleet vehicles." In addition, the available trims offer different range and content suited for additional fleet and commercial customers, such as pharmaceutical, rental and others. My Wife and I started with a trip to Kauai with another couple and I ended up buying a Time Share that I love on Hanalei Bay. Tropical Vacation Rentals Kauai | Hanalei Bay Resort With this trip to Maui, I can now say that our Favorite Island is Kauai as it has a mini–Grand Canyon, 7-mile crackling sand beach and amazing hiking and colored volcanic sand beaches. Waimea Canyon | Kauai Hawaii (hawaii-guide.com) Polihale Beach Kauai - Kauai Advisor Gorgeous 7 mile long beach Kauai State Parks: An Insider's Guide (parrishkauai.com) Division of State Parks | Hāʻena State Park (hawaii.gov) Our second favorite island is the big Island of Hawaii with the volcanos, space telescope observatories and lots of great outdoors stuff to do. Do not get me wrong, if you like history, then the other islands are great to visit especially for the WWII history to be seen, but there are lots of people and the costs are much higher. If you like hiking, seeing the outdoors, then Kauai and Big Island are the places to go. If you're a movie buff like I am with a minor in Film Analysis, then Kauai wins again due to all the movies that have been filmed there that you can go and explore either on your own or part of a vacation sight-seeing package. Movies Filmed on Kauai - Poipu Beach Association Hawaii Movie Tour in Kauaʻi | Roberts Hawaii Location Guide to Movies Filmed on Kauai (parrishkauai.com) Did ya know that Gilligan's Island was filmed on Kauai? If you wanted one Island to enjoy with a balance of small city life and rural beauty, then Kauai is it. If you are more a city person, then Oahu or Maui is it. Best Hot dog I think is the Extra-Large Hebrew Nation Dogs or Kielbasa dogs from Business Costco, grilled on my own BBQ with a Brioche hotdog bun that is buttered and grilled to a golden brown for a nice Crunch. Add carnalized Spanish Sweet onions, soft, heated cream cheese and BBQ sauce for what we call a Seattle Dog. So, what is your thoughts on the new Dodge Charger SRT EV?1 point

@David Wow. I've never been to Hawai'i. I don't know if and when I'll get there. And I don't know how I'd mix it up if there - Oahu, Hawai'i (big island), Maui, and/or Kauai? One wants to see the famous things we've all seen about Oahu. But I'm also interested in the topography and vegetation of Kauai, which looks stunning. I can name all the state's islands, but I don't know much about the other islands. - - - - - Oh, yeah, what I originally came on here to randomly pontificate: Life is too short for cheap hot dogs.1 point

I plan on doing the polio booster too since I have travel planned to NYC. Did I post something about that? Lol ! I’ve been waiting for the next Costco Michelin sale for a while now. Both the 300 and Avalanche are in dire need of tires.1 point

Spotted on August 17 After fasting and getting my blood drawn at a nearby suburban medical complex, I always head here for a donut and a cup of coffe. I walked out and saw this ... and reached for my phone camera. This was the downsized base Buick Regal coupe, after the first generation of GM colonnades (1973-1977). The wheel covers and simpler trim indicated it was not the more finished Limited, which would have had plump seats and more chrome trim outside. The engine badging says 3.8 liter, and this would have been the first year for the much improved "even firing" crankshaft modification that GM kept supplying in this V6 for almost another 10 years. The paint might be faded but the body is in great shape. It was air conditioned, but had manual windows and no gauge package. The owner walked out of the bakery shortly afterwards and said it was her father's car, it was garaged, and had a little over 50,000 miles. She was really nice and liked talking about her car. People know when you're not a "creeper" because you obviously know the car they are driving and its details fairly well. As she drove off, she honked and waved.1 point

Seen on the evening of August 15 upon entering an Italian restaurant with a mean Monday night dinner special. GM's Saturn brand turned out to be better than a lot of us expected A vehicle you don't see very much. As it "matured," Saturn put clean looking and tasteful front fascias on their vehicles Of the 2 seaters with which a few GM divisions responded to the Mazda Miata, this was the most attractive one. However, I wouldn't own one. For most of its current owners, it's a hobby car and almost never a daily driver.1 point

Seen on August 15 during a lunchtime trip to the supermarket. Parked further out on the lot, the driver was not around. This appears to be a 1980 to 1984 Buick LeSabre "Collector's Edition" and most likely powered by the 5.0 liter V8 engine designed by Olds, so this person will hopefully keep it for a long time. A little "photo essay" for something worth a second look Side view - a very long full-size GM vehicle Interesting mix of vertical grille and canted headlamps and the confident, roadworthy look of an American boulevardier Unmistakable Buick Motor Division front fascia treatment The lack of a CMSL puts its model year at 1984 at the very latest. Check out that vinyl top that has no body defects at its edges. Collector's Edition - worth keeping around Wire wheel covers in excellent shape, while Hankook tires are not an OEM brand. Old school GM dashboard with brushed silver bezels and shared with Electra/Park Avenue at the same time they were RWD, and also with Riviera for 2 years of its production.. I would expect to have the Collector's Edition have the top of the line (leather) seating option for what Buick made available that year. Some people may hate and have hated these full size B-O-P cars. While I can do without the leather seating, these big GM cars were somewhat of a treat to ride in every now and then.1 point

Saw this one on August 5 at a shopping center parking lot, where it was parked near my car. (bonus peek-a-boo view of my car, too) It was a 2013. The owner said it was not his daily driver and it had low miles. It had the 3.6 V6. The owner said that he didn't get the fuel economy he would have expected, even on the open road. I believe these are CT4s, if I'm not mistaken. To this day, I am taken aback by how raked the profile of this Cadillac coupe is.1 point

It definitely looks like they changed very little behind the front fascia. I guess it gives them something in the compact CUV market, after the demise of the ancient Journey. At least w/ the Dart, while it was on a Fiat/Alfa platform, there wasn't a Fiat or Alfa model in the US market with the same panels. The Alfa Tonale is going to be sold in the US. Kind of like how back in the 70s-90s Dodge and Plymouth had many cloned models with little brand differentiation...1 point

While it's a much needed addition for Dodge in a much needed to compete in market, I have a major issue with this. Now, take this with a grain of salt and understand this is just my lowly opinion, but all the people who gave GM and Ford absolute hell for badge engineering in the past, better lay it on heavy here because, if it did not say Dodge on it and not have the Dart like headlight/grill treatment, I'd never guess this was anything other than a crappy Alfa. Just a big ole' "meh" from me lol.1 point

In the grand scheme of things, I aint so sad about the ICE version of the Challenger and Charger going away next year. To say that it doesnt affect me emotionally would not be entirely true. Its an end to several types of eras this news is. Several types of eras that define my automotive enthusiasm. But hey, time marches on. Things come and go. Time to move on and unto the next thing. As long as Stellantis/Dodge gives us a worthy muscle car in EV form not necessarily needed to be called Charger and/or Challenger, Im good. But the EV(s) to replace its modern, now old, ICE muscle cars better be in the same vein for me not to feel like Im gonna miss a Hellcat...1 point

This is very sad. It contradicts a fairly recent article uploaded by another C&G member saying they would delay pulling the plug a while more. As for the numbers, 1.5 million Chargers seems like a lot, but that's over a long span of years. They sold over 500,000 Cutlasses in 1976 alone. So what happens, then, there's a vacuum in those vehicle niches until Stellantis figures out what to slot in? I was hoping for a slight refresh. They could have pulled it off and kept the Brampton, ON, Canada plant humming along a little longer and there would have still been buyers for those cars. Without a doubt. Just get rid of the gas hog models with 707 (or 797) horses to bring up CAFE numbers.1 point

Had a nice getaway today to Kelley's Island in Lake Erie, took the ferry over and went around to a couple wineries, had a good lunch, sat on the beach for a while...overcast but only 76, nice weather for August. Saw a clean blue '67 Chevelle convertible on the island, along w/ a silver late model Jag F-Type R convertible that was also beside me on the ferry...don't see those very often. On the freeway on the way out there saw a bright yellow C8 coupe and a very clean black 80s-90s Jeep Cherokee 4dr (XJ)...always liked the boxy compact Cherokee, nice to see one so clean. At a gas station, saw this custom '51 Mercury--chatted briefly w/ the driver who appeared to be in his early 20s.1 point

Go any place you want, just use common sense and protection. AKA - Mask, Hand sanitizer, do not touch eyes, nose or mouth. Just use some common sense on being clean in regard to your personal hygiene.1 point

I got mine a bit over 2 weeks ago. Only very mild side effects, but it was Pfizer instead of my previous 3 being Moderna. There will be a new Moderna Omicron version out in the fall right in time for my next booster. From the data they submitted to the FDA, not only does this new version provide better protection against Omicron, it got updates for Alpha and Delta versions as well.1 point
