Yeah.... nice interiors in cheap cars seems to be a lost art...just all cheap gray plastic now. I remember at one time VW in particular had nice interiors in their cheap cars, maybe 20-25 years ago.2 points

I get that, but it was cheap. We (myself included) are always wanting more affordable cars but when they make them, we complain about how cheap they are.2 points

BYD is everywhere in Mexico. And honestly, I saw like 3 Teslas on the road in 3 days in Canada. This is badass....1 point

Yea, NOT Washington State has just approved a 6 cent per gallon gas tax increase that goes into effect July 1st 2025 as supporting road projects. State gas tax will be 61.4 cents per gallon Federal gas tax is 18.4 cents per gallon Some counties here have additional gas tax in support of the county projects. As such, looks like starting July 1st the tax on gas for Washington state will become 95 cents per gallon. CRAZY1 point

You can leave it in V-Mode it does reduce the range of the battery pack, but until they get one on the lot, no knowledge of how much a reduction it is to have it left in V-Mode and drive around so you have the instant power all the time.1 point

Same thing here. Gassed up in Detroit, Detroit prices were good. Made it across Canada without gassing up, Canada had terrible prices, over $5 a gallon in places. Buffalo was high, so I bought gas in PA and again in Ohio. Back in Ohio it was about half of rural Canada. Tesla ain't doing well.1 point

Interesting read, one thing I have noticed with my Kia EV9 self driving is that traffic circles confuse the system, seems Tesla also in their current version are still confused with traffic circles. I totally agree with the guy that the fit n finish of the BYD is better than Tesla. Having been around plenty of Tesla, I know my Kia has better fit n finish than tesla. I'm a retiree living in Mexico who owns a BYD and a Tesla. Here's why I prefer the Chinese car.1 point

I have to totally disagree with the Chinese 996 work approach. This is total BS. Scale AI’s 30-year-old billionaire cofounder has a warning for anyone who craves work-life balance: ‘maybe you’re not in the right work’1 point

So did a little research on this and I see Cadillac does post this on their website, but I also verified with a stop in at my local Cadillac dealership. You can drive around in normal mode and get 300 hp with 354 lb-ft of torque as the normal mode programming allows. This is default for all trim levels of Optiq including the V. Pressing the v mode button on the steering wheel is much like my Kia with drive mode. You can go into the various drive modes including Velocity Max with a 0 to 60mph in 3.5 seconds using the full 519 HP / 650 lb-ft of torque. In playing with it, it is noticeable the change in performance from Normal mode to Tour, Snow/Ice, Sport, My Mode, and Velocity Max mode. Brotherton Cadillac did NOT have a Optiq-V yet on the lot, but they did have the Optiq in Luxury, Sport1 and Sport 2. The Sport 1 and 2 trims has the default of Sport drive mode where the Luxury has Tour mode as default. Now the item was was wanting to verify, was exactly what even the service department could not verify as their own documentation does not say what the various HP/Torque are for each drive mode. We just have default 300/354 for Tour and V-MAX of 519/650. At least this gives us a better understanding of if you need or want the extra power while driving, change into sport or V-Max mode if you have a V and then stomp on the accelerator.1 point

So, it seems like they are screwing around with the GM Card again. https://news.gm.com/home.detail.html/Pages/news/us/en/2025/may/0520-GM-enhances-loyalty-program-unveils-GM-Rewards-Mastercard-Barclays.html are cardholders getting screwed? I can’t hardly tell from the bull$h!.1 point

Very interesting read, considering that in 2024 the average price per kW was $66.50 or in the case of a Tesla Y with a 60 kWh battery pack, $3,990 base cost to Tesla or in the case of my Kia EV9 with it's 100 kWh battery pack, $6,650 dollars cost. Today, the base cost due to deflated battery material has fallen to a low of $45 per kW or for Tesla, a battery cost of $2,700 or in the EV9 $4,500 for the battery cost. These make huge decreases in EV costs when the price of the most expensive component drops so fast. Just for basic understanding of a full size GM EV Pickup which has a 210 kWh battery pack, last year $13,965 and now in 2025 $9,450 cost on the battery pack. https://www.actumoteur.fr/en/electric-vehicle-battery-prices-just-crashed-harder-than-anyone-predicted-27490.html1 point

Same here in Washington, there is a ton of Summer projects with major road detours and sections that are totally closed during the night, traffic is a snail pace and especially this week with World Cup here, just best to not go anywhere.1 point

Yup! That's new ADA grant funding through the Biden Bill.1 point

Holy smokes, I completely understand how you feel! St Louis City has been on a roll this year, too. They've been redoing most any sidewalk corner approaching an intersection along with new lighting, which is all nice, but that means streets are blocked off, too. Now they're also tearing up actual street surfaces and blacktopping them. It'll be really nice in a month when stuff is finished down here. Right now my construction situation is pretty awful between the drive to STL and actual downtown STL.1 point

OMG yes about the road construction! Between the Biden infrastructure bill and the new investments by PennDot and funding to the local municipalities to fix roads, it is sometimes impossible to get around here. It's also not just roads, utility companies, especially water and sewer, got a lot of fresh funding for projects too. I get that there is a lot to catch up on, but it's making it really hard to get about.1 point

I think the issues in the middle east are causing some regional price fluctuations based on fear and greed. The prices here haven't budged and are actually pretty low for summertime.1 point

I thought it was a Sonic. It works for the vehicle it was put in though. It started at like 14k when it first came out. The Spark's was basically the same design that just looked newer(because it was). That's exactly what it was back then. Big tach with a small digital speedo + other information. This was my Triumph Daytona's instrument cluster (not my picture):1 point

They're just using AAA's website for their data. A ~50c/gal swing in two days is insane.1 point
