  1. yeah, when going up hills and just need a little more HP... say 200rpm? this will hardly be noticed.
  2. I found the transmission ratios on wikipedia. assuming they're right. 1 2 3 4 R 2.48 1.48 1.00 0.75 2.07 1 2 3 4 5 6 R 4.027 2.364 1.532 1.152 0.852 0.667 3.064 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 R 4.56 2.97 2.08 1.69 1.27 1.00 0 .85 0 .65 3.82
  3. for comparison, 8L90 has a *7.015 ratio spread The 6L80 (and similar 6L90) has a *6.037 ratio spread The 4L80-E (and similar 4L85-E) has a *3.3 ratio spread -Ratios were calculated from wikipedia's info.
  4. "better".. the fiat is a turbo 1.4L.... right? it is slightly heavier, from fiat - " 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque " that'd be closer to having the 2.5L in the car than the 2.0L with that torque...
  5. and they are trying to bring a(or more) safety feature down a level every year... but they also have pretty useless stuff in it too. like an adjustable lumbar support in the driver's seat that... doesn't hold position...aka, pretty useless.
  6. i don't doubt that... basically. but they redesigned ..basically everything else...not saying 1 more is insignificant...but for a "small van" it would be a segment only, right? it's still basically made for the Asian market. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_Premacy or not " In February 2016, Mazda Motor announced that development and production of minivans could end within the year. Sales of the Premacy, the MPV (Mazda and Biante would end by 2017 "
  7. i've shared something like this before: I wonder if the mazda5 (MPV) has any future plans to come back? just curious... I still think a small truck could work... rumor around the 'net is either '18 MY 3 will be refreashed with skyactiv 2 or it'll be CY '18. not sure. HCCI in a production vehicle will be interesting...not much word if it'll be the 2.0L, 2.5L or what....
  8. <iframe frameborder="0" scrolling="no" style="border:0px" src="https://books.google.com/books?id=ljSn7q8qlmkC&lpg=PA38&ots=N31u1FJ0Ry&dq=GM's%20unleaded%20engines%20before%2080's&pg=PA16&output=embed" width=500 height=500></iframe> one of these will work. https://books.google.com/books?id=ljSn7q8qlmkC&lpg=PA38&ots=N31u1FJ0Ry&dq=GM's unleaded engines before 80's&pg=PA16#v=onepage&q=GM's unleaded engines before 80's&f=false
  9. wasn't it at least rated SULEV .. well, maybe not the S/C one, but the N/A was... if it did have to be updated, raise the CR to ~10+, add DI and keep it with low end grunt.
  10. any chance my bad rep will go away or be drastically reduced? those are like from another lifetime. lol
  11. narrow minded could be a criticism and not "name calling". not saying you're wrong... if capitalism did it to detroit, it's because investors thought there were better opportunities elsewhere. right or wrong, it's their $, so it's up to "them". is there a post to refer FordC to for how REP is supposed to be used for? i sometimes use votes in redit for like, but i know it's not supposed to be like that. this isn't facebook. I've been the target of Drew's wrath too, but it's been like.. 4+ years? i've also not be very active here for like 2 years either.
  12. i gotcha. but this is lots of anecdotal comments., i've been doing it too.. sorta. lol we can't change the past and it's an easy target to moralize or rationalize about stuff you had no chance to change. ...maybe this is why we are so militarily involved around the world... the labor of the 1800's allowed for rapid expansion at the cost of many lives and liberties. there were also "child soldiers" of the civil war, the moralizing can't only be directed at "economic tyrants".. anyway...... kinda sad.. isn't it like saying i win at a staring contest? while it can't be disputed if both know they are playing... just sayin.
  13. i think i remember you saying this. dang HP wars....or more specifically hp/L...
  14. warehouse, or worse. i don't think that's how it works... slavery represses greater capital generation.... https://www.gilderlehrman.org/history-by-era/slavery-and-anti-slavery/resources/was-slavery-engine-american-economic-growth http://www.economist.com/blogs/freeexchange/2013/09/economic-history-2 but since we can't run this experiment, there can be no proof oneway or the other
  15. and we'll never see it (3.5 or 3.9) with a 6-speed(+) and updated like the 4.3 has been. with a straight ratio for hp the 3.5 would make ~231hp, and ~258 for the 3.9. those look like great 2.0L Turbo replacement ranges for those that don't want a turbo in midsize and large sedans to midsize crossovers and ... small trucks. Always liked Dwightlooi's technical ideas and explanations.
  16. @Surreal1272, to break it down, don't we just have to show that either slave labor is actually part of capitalism, or is a practice not compatible? just to make it simpler in the future, quote a place that has this info..... http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=slave
  17. hypocrites, that what those people were...except the king was the biggest one cause he had the power - army - , oh wait, he the authority also, being the head of the religion NVM!!!!
  18. i think the bailout was the only chance they got from us. no blackwater security sent there. i'd say GM has the right to defend their property, but paying for security may not be worth it... Tesla could have covered them with their stock worth alone. if there can be proof of wrong and right... that must mean there is objective truth right? how close are we to be able to know and control things with science? i'd say somewhat far, but not in the grand scheme of things. thus if science is somewhat far, since living things are much more complex, we still have many "discoveries" to find, prove and spread this object truth. if interstellar travelers existed... any technology that we can't understand, is essentially magic. i'm not ruling that out, and would explain some things from prehistoric caves and such. but then the question is, why haven't they been back? Star treks 'prime directive"? lol
  19. nice diversionary post of one line, (not wrong though) did you know this, or google it? you have any substance to add? yes, but another entry in the catechism is ... " 35 Man's faculties make him capable of coming to a knowledge of the existence of a personal God. But for man to be able to enter into real intimacy with him, God willed both to reveal himself to man and to give him the grace of being able to welcome this revelation in faith. The proofs of God's existence, however, can predispose one to faith and help one to see that faith is not opposed to reason." 2000+years of logic and reason that the church has used to get to where it is today. Mistakes have been made, but is that the fault of the religion or human nature? i put 2000+ because of the jewish tradition that had been the roots of christian tradition.
