  1. Winners of this: Fiesta - 5,238 up 72.6% Fusion - 16,652 up 11.8% why are they killing it? Taurus - 2,247 up 4.7% Police Interceptor Utility - 2,777 up 7.2% Expedition - 4,264 up 7.9% Heavy Trucks - 1,048 up 85.2% MKC - 2,263 up 11.1% Nautilus / MKX - 3,153 up 20.4% Navigator - 1,566 up 27.3% Interesting ? what is keeping ford going on the positive side in addition to their 70,000 truck sales. Yet even with the negative down you still have these auto's that are selling very well: Escape - 21,516 down 14.3% Explorer - 17,696 down 17.8% Plenty that are near 10,000 autos sold too. Very interesting to see where the sales are at, you would think they could have a single assembly line that would keep a couple cars going besides the mustang.
  2. Comparing the ratios of populations 300 million to 1.6 billion, the US is 1/5th of their population, so I am guessing 1/5th of Cadillacs lineup stays local such as Escalade and 1or 2 XT's the rest is imported.
  3. There are always holes and if you have no product allocated to those plants, then there is no reason to keep the going. This is not socialism, but capitalism. UAW needs to EMBRACE the New Era of EVs and work with GM to produce them at these unallocated plants and increase training of needed new skills for their workers.
  4. Gotta Love Hazee Beer! So many Micro Breweries and such little time!
  5. Those numbers where for the US market only and so it is correct that in the global view, some of these auto's would not be on this list. For the US, these numbers suck for sure.
  6. Solid State deep density batteries is where this will help small auto's like the basic 2 door Porsche. Yup about 5-7 years away for them.
  7. Which should speak volumes about the long life of CVT versus traditional geared Trans!
  8. I would be happy that headlights are always on period when you are in Drive. The amount of people driving asian auto's at dusk or at night turned off is amazing to me and they wonder why people are flashing them or honk their horns.
  9. Totally agree with this. I hate the nanny safety devices that they are forcing out on all the auto's. Drive and pay attention or pay someone to drive for you.
  10. This story I believe is spot on and will make loyalty to a brand of product harder. Due to the cost of an Auto, having your employees drive what you make is hard now and will just get harder due to the cost of the auto. https://flipboard.com/@flipboard/-salaried-workers-beware-gm-cuts-are-a-w/f-d67435d894%2Fapnews.com I believe this is a perfect point of what the jobs are that will be eliminated: The jobs that GM will shed through buyouts and layoffs are now held by people who are experts in the internal combustion engine, mechanical engineers and managers who work on complex components that won't be needed on the much simpler electric vehicles that the largest U.S. automaker says are its future. I believe this story by Bloomberg is also spot on and tells us what to expect to come for our luv of all things trucks and SUV / CUVs: https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2018-11-30/gm-bets-on-bigger-greener-cars-and-it-isn-t-alone Some interesting quotes from the bloomberg story: Five years ago, medium- and full-size pickups were the largest group of vehicles sold within the U.S. light truck category. Since the start of 2016, though, a single class of SUVs — compact crossovers, such as the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, Subaru Forester and Toyota RAV4 — has been bigger on its own than the entire pickup market. American cars are now light trucks; American light trucks are now SUVs. I’m in Shanghai this week, where electric vehicles with their distinctive green license plates are easy to spot. Most of them are Chinese-made; many of them are small SUVs. They also match nicely with the (not just American) preference for taller SUVs and crossovers. CLOSING COMMENT IN THE STORY: If Rivian, and its eventual electric pickup peers, are successful in the U.S., they’ll be growing in a flat auto market. That makes Scaringe’s goal intriguing, because it would mean eating into demand, even incrementally, from another vehicle class. The question, then, is this: Would a $69,000 electric pickup eat into the top end of the truck market or the heart of the luxury SUV market?
  11. I am honestly surprised that GM has not tied up with any designer or premium sports product company for a Premium Cadillac auto. Asians, since I am married to a Korean, are crazy for brand names and I truly believe Cadillac could sell a Coach Edition CT and XT in the Asian rim and even sell some here. Also who could not see Escalade selling a Premium NFL edition or any other sports edition versions. At least do this probably better yet for the sports at the GMC level. Based on this list of most valuable companies: https://www.forbes.com/powerful-brands/list/#tab:rank Why does Cadillac not have a Louis Vuitton or Nike Edition?
  12. The movie is great that the song was in. Hocus Pocus https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107120/
  13. WRONG, You have become like SMK, your hatred for all things EV has blinded you to the fact that the choices that consumers want are not there yet. Leaf and Bolt fill a demand of a small segment, Tesla fills a richer segment but none of those 5 EVs are what consumers want. Many people here including myself have stated that especially for those of us with partners. What is out there does not meet the needs of a happy couple, so we wait for additional options. CUVs / SUVs that are pure electric will sell and sell in quantity. Example is China where they are selling millions a year of Electric SUV/CUVs as that is what consumers want and clearly here as well. Jaguar and I fully expect once they are available Mercedes-Benz will sell all they make of their CUV EVs. I will go and say this, if GM builds the new Trailblazer with a proper VOLT Powertrain, they will sell in great numbers.
  14. E-Torque offers lots of gain, not the fuel efficiency but the torque from zero on the truck. It is a great system to increase the bed capacity and trailer capacity. Ram is behind Ford and especially GM in making efficient lite trucks, so they went this route especially since they have no real small cars.
  15. Looking at these two I would have to say we can say that the mid engine Corvette is a halo car for Cadillac. Very cool and excited by this. I still think Cadillac will have an AWD EV.
  16. Wish they would allow two Emoji on a post as my first was and the second was ? Totally agree with you, Escala with AWD Electric would rock! Talk about being the most quiet smooth ride around! Truly World Class Leading.
  17. Why should you even care about the eco-weenies or should anyone when this is about off road capabilities, not efficiency. Great that it beats the Raptor and e-torque Rebel, but how did it stack up against them in the off road actual use? Any reports yet on what it should be able to do better than any others? ?
  18. Yet they import and sell all the S-Class from Germany, so why would the 1% care about where the auto is built?
  19. If they are killing off cars, then Motor1.com has shown the 15 worst cars that should also die. https://www.motor1.com/features/282006/worst-selling-cars-trucks-2018/ Units sold since the start of 2018 15th - Audi A7 at 1,959 14th - Jaguar XF at 1,944 13th - Jaguar F-Type at 1,925 12th - Mercedes-Benz SL-Class at 1,787 11th - Mercedes-Benz SLC-Class at 1,692 10th - Lexus LC at 1,688 9th - Acura RLX at 1,556 8th - Jabuar XJ at 1,365 7th - Fiat 500L at 1,327 6th - Toyota Mirai at 1,263 - Seems crazy to include Hydrogen autos 5th - Audi TT at 1,244 4th - Smart For Two at 1,054 3rd - Audi A8 at 909 2nd - Kia K900 at 277 1st - Alfa Romeo 4C at 217 units I would say if Cadillac cannot make a profit on the CT6, then how can any of these auto companies make a profit and all these cars should be killed off for the US.
  20. WOW, full of shit. Right, so much for being polite and accepting of others and their different opinions. I usually do not fit in small cars, but the Escort GT was my first new car out of college and Mazda built it so I could fit in the car with head room to spare. Yes no one could sit behind me but I fit just fine and it became the wife's car. Some do build roomy small cars for single big guys.
  21. That is why I like it is the super clean front end and not an overkill crazy grill like you see on the Lexus or so many others. Very clean, love the daytime running strip and how it is used to indicate recharge. The vertical are the actual headlights, lower for regular lights, upper section for high beams. Clean distinct and different from the rest of the auto industry and the craziness of large grills they have done. This view really does remind me of a Smiling Emoji!
  22. There is a business for you, 3rd party front panel replacements that would look better. I honestly am surprised that between the headlights, those vertical light sections that the area is not connected to the hood to open up with it and improve the ease of access into that lovely Frunk!
  23. OK, that is good to know, things can get confused on the various forums on how people post, so if that was it, then that is good to know. Currently this forum where members have the Fiesta ST seem to have clutch issues, front mount inter-cooler issues and interior noises / rattles. https://www.fiestast.org/forum/fiesta-st-discussions/4117-what-common-problems-issues-new-fiesta-st.html Of course according to this site: http://www.fordproblems.com/models/fiesta/ Fiesta owners are having the most trouble with the transmission (52%), interior (8%), and the engine (7%). Glad I do not have the Focus as it seems to have plenty of Transmission issues for the 2018 model year and there are lawsuit websites setup already. http://2018fordfocustransmissionproblems.com/ Anyways, I hope that this helps secure GM's long term life as I think the plant closing and headcount reduction is the right thing to do. Ford should be doing this faster too as they really need to address that debt issue.
  24. Transmission issues from what I have read and gasket issues. As long as the gaskets are holding and the transmission has not gone loony the cars seem to drive well according to what I have read on forums and in the media.
