So True, probably brag about beating a V8 off the line and never state that they were still half a block from the next light when I am at the next light past that one.

It is funny on the north end of Seattle up in my neighborhood you find lots of riced out Civic's and they try to race everyone. I enjoy letting them off the line at the green light first before flooring it and blowing them away in my SS.

I agree with @Cmicasa the Great that this sale will work in GM's favor. Yes as @Drew Dowdell has stated, GM did play a financial shell game with Opel/Vauxhall and I think focused on the engineering gain. That has run it's course and with a focus on profits and a global platform global sales of select name brands. GM long term will grow and do ever better. We all agree that there are far too many nameplates and production capacity around the world. Europe is not the growth market that China is and GM can do much better by servicing China, North America and South America better as they then grow with a profitable plan Europe.

I truly believe we can have high durability with more gears. A perfect example of this is the Mountain bikes that have 20-30 gears and smoothly shift from 1 gear to another or jump up or down between gears and yet are strong, smooth and yes durable in a very hostile grit destroying area. I believe we can have 10-15 gear transmissions that are strong and smoothly move from gear to gear or jump between gears and still give us strength, durability and better MPG.

WOW, are all trucks from this generation like that in having a generator not an alternator? What do the grooves provide? I find this very interesting considering it is a generator and not an alternator.

From an Engineering exercise, you are right about efficiency, sadly from real world use the design of the dual cones and slippage will always keep it from fulfilling its full potential. Outstanding explanation, thank you. An Engineer I am but an English writer I struggle to be.

In talking to a number of Transmission Mechanics, I have yet to hear a single one say they preferred a CVT over a true Gear transmission other than the simplicity of rebuilding. Geared transmissions are superior as CCAP41 mentioned in regards to getting more power and holding strength over CVT to the wheels. Efficiency is questionable in regards to CVT compared to a Geared transmission.

Why, Why WHY? Ricers will love it, but ugly as they come and what the hell is up with having big ass holes on the nose of an auto in the lower corners? VW, BMW, MB, Toyota and Now Honda have all copied this same stupid look.

Great now MB latest auto pulls that same huge holes on the lower corners of the front end, blah coupe look. In fact the VW and MB look more alike than the BMW now, but all three while nice looking auto's also show a huge LACK of Individual Style!

From the lower corner front nose grill openings, to the coupe design, shoulders over the wheels, I see enough similarities between the two. To each their own.

We'll Carbon Copy is a complement. Rebadge BMW with a VW Grill. Nice, but nothing original. Dash, just another BLAH uninspiring dash. I will grant that this is the best looking VW auto they have done and the only thing that actually has some very nice style even for a clone of a BMW.

Jeep News: Jeep Wrangler Pickup Pushed Back To 2019G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Jeep Nothing New Here, FCA is dying and I doubt will come up with the cash to bring out new models as they waste billions on their stupid Italian brands.

Seems for the first time ever, Chevy Cruze beat all the Asian and German compact cars. Consumer Reports says the best compact to buy is the Chevy Cruze, beating the long time leaders from Honda and Toyota. http://www.consumerreports.org/cruze/2016-chevrolet-cruze-review/

Wonder if GMC will get a Syclone then since the ZR2 is back for Chevy? After all the TTV6 would be awesome in a new Syclone pickup truck AWD.
