Toyota News: Rumorpile: The MR2 Might Make A Return to Toyota's Lineup
I see no sense in this, Yes some people love to have the top down, or smaller auto to drive, but the market show spoken that 2 door 2 person coupes are not what the bulk of people want. They have limited use and honestly the market is not supporting them. Why waste R&D money on 3 variations. I can see having 1 model and in this case make it the Supera with a stripped, mid and top end model.

GM ‘100 percent’ Commited To Holden Following Sale of Opel
I expect rebadge of all GMC products as the new Holden with some rebadge Buick as Holden for cars.

Toyota News: Rumorpile: The MR2 Might Make A Return to Toyota's Lineup
Pretty Dead Market, I would be surprised if the ultra conservative board would green light this. I honestly see no reason to bring back the MR2 or even the Celica. Supra, yes, I can see that if done right.

Fiat News: Marchionne Still Dreams of A FCA-GM Merger
I have to disagree, extreme tree huggers hurt it, but plenty of Hummers still around here in the PNW and people love them for their off road capability. Every bit as good and in many ways better than Jeep. Hummer as an offroad GMC package would do great. Take the HX above and give it a GMC grill and call it the Terracross. have various packages including the ultimate would be the hummer package.

Fiat News: Marchionne Still Dreams of A FCA-GM Merger
VW has many other options before even needing to think about FCA. What a joke. Yes, one could make a case for VW and FCA so VW gets Jeep and Ram and sells off Dodge/Chrysler to some China Company. Fiat/Alfa would also either be sold off or closed. Sergio just does not seem to get it, he is clueless about what other companies would need to fulfill the final pieces. VW has just about everything they need and might only be interested in Jeep / Ram. Course they could also easily build their own versions of those two which is what I really think VW would do.

Spied: 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
Makes ya wonder when the average Joe can see what seems like common sense ideas, why a company does not. Thinking about this, guess the cab would still be High Strength steel at least in the pillars for roll over protection while the skin is Aluminum.

I actually could see the GM Full Size Pickups being 90% all aluminum except for the high strength Hydroform Frame and the inside of the bed being made of High Strength Steel. This way the outside of the truck is Aluminum and lightweight, but the bed being High Strength Steel can still withstand the punctures of commercial use.

GM News: General Motors Will Remain In Europe As A Niche Player
I agree with @Cmicasa the Great that this sale will work in GM's favor. Yes as @Drew Dowdell has stated, GM did play a financial shell game with Opel/Vauxhall and I think focused on the engineering gain. That has run it's course and with a focus on profits and a global platform global sales of select name brands. GM long term will grow and do ever better. We all agree that there are far too many nameplates and production capacity around the world. Europe is not the growth market that China is and GM can do much better by servicing China, North America and South America better as they then grow with a profitable plan Europe.

9/10 speed automatic vs CVT
I truly believe we can have high durability with more gears. A perfect example of this is the Mountain bikes that have 20-30 gears and smoothly shift from 1 gear to another or jump up or down between gears and yet are strong, smooth and yes durable in a very hostile grit destroying area. I believe we can have 10-15 gear transmissions that are strong and smoothly move from gear to gear or jump between gears and still give us strength, durability and better MPG.

Vehicle : 1940 Ford C.O.E.
WOW, are all trucks from this generation like that in having a generator not an alternator? What do the grooves provide? I find this very interesting considering it is a generator and not an alternator.

9/10 speed automatic vs CVT
From an Engineering exercise, you are right about efficiency, sadly from real world use the design of the dual cones and slippage will always keep it from fulfilling its full potential. Outstanding explanation, thank you. An Engineer I am but an English writer I struggle to be.

9/10 speed automatic vs CVT
In talking to a number of Transmission Mechanics, I have yet to hear a single one say they preferred a CVT over a true Gear transmission other than the simplicity of rebuilding. Geared transmissions are superior as CCAP41 mentioned in regards to getting more power and holding strength over CVT to the wheels. Efficiency is questionable in regards to CVT compared to a Geared transmission.
