MAJOR SOFTWARE UPDATE COMING THIS WEEK!
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Site News and Feedback
For the moment, we will be keeping the look and feel as close as we can to what we have today. I don't want to do too much major change all at once. Think 5th Gen Camaro to 6th Gen Camaro - It looks mostly alike, but everything underneath is all new and substantially upgraded with superior performance. Thanks You ROCK! -
Why Ew? I would think many people would love an auto start stop system that works when you push in the clutch and not have to rely on turning the auto on and off manually to save fuel. After all every little bit helps. Now the one interesting drawback I can see is if you are on hills in a city and trying to slip the clutch while also gasing to move forward, I would hope it would be pretty smooth or can be turned off as a feature.

Nissan Sparky = Electric ElCamino
G. David Felt replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
Since I originally posted this, Nissan has now stated that they are looking as a pickup truck version like Sparky as interest from city dwellers has gotten stronger. It would seem that with generation 2 of the Nissan Leaf coming and a 200+ mile range, people who live in the city and city governments that need maintenance trucks for work around the parks, city, etc. has grown the interest in this little Electric FWD pickup truck. With the BOLT and Ioniq out this fall, Leaf 2.0 out next year and many other EV auto's on the drawing board, who will be the first to have a mini EV pickup truck out to the public? What is your thoughts on this, is this a valid market to create one for or is it too early? -
MAJOR SOFTWARE UPDATE COMING THIS WEEK!
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Site News and Feedback
Very excited to see the new software. Does it have optional interface choices? -
Stop-Start has worked in manuals for years. Put your foot into the clutch while not moving and the engine shuts off. My BMW rental in Germany did that to me 5 or 6 years ago. That is very cool. Learning something new every day here.

Dodge News: Dodge Challenger T/A and Charger Daytona Return for 2017
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Dodge
Cool stuff, but I am seeing more and more stories about how old and dated the Dodge product line is and how FCA is doing nothing to update them. FCA could very well be the death of Dodge, Chrysler and Ram, they can always sell Jeep, but the others are looking more and more dated. FCA - Worlds Worst Managed Car Company. Sad- 20 replies

You keep telling yourself that. Doesn't make it true but by all means, keep telling yourself that Mercedes isn't worried about Tesla. Either way, late to the game. Where is Cadillac, Lincoln, Acura, Lexus, JLR, and the rest of them? They don't even have electric cars in development yet. As far as you know they do not have anything in development, but they very well could. Remember this is a company that caught the whole world with their pants down when they showed off the BOLT and announced it going into production. The BOLT forced Tesla's hand in regards to the T3 and it also is forcing all auto companies to move forward with an EV. Cadillac very well could have a whole group of EV's on the drawing board that you and the rest of us know nothing about. MB is reacting to the fact that Tesla S is making inroads into their top end line of auto's. More and more people buy a Tesla over an S model from MB. Tesla Model S sold 50,300 units worldwide in 2015. The S-class was close to 100,000 the past 2 years. Tesla also has the only electric performance car on the market, what happens when there are 5 cars in that segment? I also read the average transaction price of a Model S is $79,000 vs $106,000 for an S-class, so we have a bit of a gap there. True but then Tesla is not heavily discounting their cars like MB does with the S-class nor have I found a Tesla S in private car rental service. I find many S-class auto's being used as taxis, aka private auto rental. I am willing to bet that half of the S-class sales are in use as a private chauffeur service to the public around the world. Much like how MB uses the E-class as the core taxis of Europe which accounts for their large sales numbers. No matter what all this is good for everyone, but Surreal is correct, more private owners are choosing a Tesla over the S-class as something special. S-class had this to themselves, but no more. More and more options are now available and people love the quiet ride of the Tesla. This is another reason the EVs will grow in popularity as battery density grows for longer range.

EV's cannot be ignored, Too many reports showing the growth in sales and yes while not what petro or diesel sales, the new emissions spec for Europe and the requirements to now sell EVs as a % of sales in Europe is going to force all auto companies to comply. Nissan is now on record as saying they are looking at and will probably offer multiple battery pack options in the Leaf Generation 2. While many are comfortable with 100 miles or less range on a battery pack, they understand that some want more and are looking at having for sure a 200+ pack and possible a 300+ pack as options. This alone Nissan believes would allow them to triple if not quadruple their Leaf sales. If that is true and they did sell 75,000 in the US and 160,000 global for 2015. I do not see any auto company that can ignore the EV auto. One of the Key companies that track sales says the EV's are on target for having sales over 6 million a year by 2024. http://www.navigantresearch.com/research/electric-vehicle-market-forecasts Key interesting note is that this figure could double easily depending on cost of battery packs and range. Both of which have in the last two years dropped considerably in price and grown in capacity for range. Those first to market will win this next battle in the auto industry.

So the question I have always had is when a company ends up in court due to criminal charges, who in the company really ends up having to pay with time in jail. This is usually just a money grab by the government right?

Honda News: Revealed! 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback, Arrives This Fall
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Honda
Sorry but the more I see this the more it just makes me as I see nothing sexy about this short ass, blunted punched in the face auto. I just do not get the style direction they are going. -
Seems BMW is wanting to hit Tesla on the head for their 3 series out in 2018 and as such have a new commercial about their 330e sedan being here now. Pretty funny!

G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com Michigan Blocks Tesla Sales in State, Yet State Invests in Tesla According to the Detroit News, the state of Michigan who two years ago signed into law forcing any company that wants to sell auto's in state must have a franchise to do it, seems to not want to support their own thinking. Detroit News - "Michigan Retirement Fund Boost Stake in Tesla Stock" Seems Michigan just paid $48 million increasing it's stake in Tesla to a state retirement fund holding of 339,623 shares worth $72 million according to the SEC required filing. This represents a .12% of the state $60 Billion retirement fund. What is interesting is this is their second largest holding of auto stocks. First is Delphi Automotive at $94 million, then Tesla at $72 million, Ford at $17 million and GM at $13.7 million. State of michigan owns no stock in FCA. Interesting part of the story is that Tesla has applied for a state license for a dealership. State rep Aaron Miller has introduced legislation that would allow dealerships to be owned by manufactures. Seems a bit contradictory to say the least. Read the full posting at the Detroit News.

Seems the Revero has the big outcoming yesterday. http://www.karmaautomotive.com/revero/ The car is in production, has it's solar panel roof that Karma is saying can power the car. Also interesting is that Karma web site and releases say they are working on the Atlantic also to go into production in the future.

Since they are targeting the NA market, I have to assume they will follow the Bolt with a CUV EV. But it would make sense to cover both fields with a Tesla 3 competitor and a Bolt competitor.

Very cool Suav, Remember, a tired work out is better than no work out. We all get tired, just need to push through the work out and get some sleep. See ya on the other side!

Crosstrek Hybrid sells very well with a low average on lot date last time I checked it. Many coworkers who are subaru fans have them here in Washington.

I personally was thinking along this line: C300-ev S550-ev E63-ev Keeping the family name as is, but tagging ev onto the end of it to define that the auto is pure electric.

Cadillac Naming Convention, Time to Show your Marketing Mastery!
G. David Felt replied to G. David Felt's topic in Cadillac
Respect the input SMK, Please provide your layout of a car naming for 4 door Sedans and 2 door coupes plus the SUV / Truck segment. Interesting as I had no Idea about the MB tag line when I came up with mine. MB problem is that their CLA is like all the others in the family and seems to be just a selfish I am better than all the rest of the MB product line. I was thinking of a slogan over all to be applied to the whole family. I like I suspect many others am not a fan of the Piss Poor Dare Greatly tag line.- 17 replies

G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com Cadillac Naming Convention, Time to Show your Marketing Mastery! We have had many threads in many auto lines that always hit upon if the Alpha Numeric naming is the best it can be or not. Some love the german branding of the names, while others hate it. Many have stated it is time to bring back the names to Cadillac. With this, I am bringing to the Cadillac forum this naming thread so that you can lay out YOUR CHOICE of names, how they would be used in the auto line up and for fun add in YOUR MARKETING MESSAGE, or TAG Line! I will start this off with my own listing of how I feel Cadillac should cover their auto family line of names. To me a Sedan is a 4 door auto, Coupe is a 2 door auto, time to clearly show which is which and bring back the proper room and space into the luxury line. No more blindly and dumbly following the germans or anyone else. Show what America Luxury is and tune it based on proper marketing clinics with feedback from the public.
