Disagree with you on Unimog, they are capable offroads, but they do not make the Hummer weak. I will take a Hummer over a Unimog any day. Testing has proven that the Unimog higher center of gravity causes more issues than the Hummer and the Hummer can be IED proof, have not seen one single Unimog as a military IED proof ride.

No matter what we all think, Bloomberg is now saying that VW is stating this actually affects 11 million auto's they made. Their stock has dropped 25% in the last 2 days so a Market loss of 25 Billion Euros in value. VW estimates 6.8 Billion Euros to fix. The following countries have now stated they will investigate and possibly fine VW. Germany, France, South Korea and Italy on top of the US and Canada. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-09-22/vw-to-set-aside-7-3-billion-as-diesel-emissions-scandal-widens Porsche is now saying that this VW mess will have a drastic affect on them as they own 51% of VW. So Sum this up on what VW has Lost and could cost: 25 Billion Euros Value lost in Stock price 6.5 Billion Euros cost to fix the issue US says possibly as much as 18 Billion fine. Germany, France, South Korea, Italy, and Canada Additional Fines of unknown value. End Result, VW will survive but be hurt bad by this mess financially Diesel will get a worse rap as the medical communities and govs will attack it even more. EV will probably get the biggest push ever. China will probably lead a revolution of moving to electric auto's.

The same reason some manufacturers got busted for lying about FE-their marketing folks wrote checks the engineers couldn't cash. My truck uses urea. Still gets awesome FE. Urea usage is pretty modest too I don't think it was as much of a lie as it was their internal testing procedure was just wrong, for all of them that had to make adjustments. FAILURE, We do not need Apple or Google building cars. Autonomous garbage. Leave them to their software. They lack passion for auto's and only see it as a tool to get from A to B.

Totally Agree, +1, I think the CR-V is very overrated and the Patriot got a bad rap due to them not paying Consumer reports to Spew their this is the best crap.Lets also not forget the history of BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. They have very dirty past.
Outstanding assessment and I wish the news would cover these cases in this manner. The sensationalism to get ratings has made most reporters have no honor nor any integrity.Nope most so called professional sports teams are over paid and clearly over valued. Plenty of lazy people in it for a quick buck and return on investment to the fans. Plenty of games this weekend showed this.But this probably gets better gas mileage than all their others.Seattle is raining and I love it!Sorry wings, I have to disagree the car is ugly. Terrible rear headroom and a loss of internal cargo space all for the stupid coupe look in a station wagon.So it would seem that VW was wanting to show the best HP / Torque / MPG on the market but they would have fallen short if they had used DEF. Seems like this came down to how much could they skirt the law to give Executives better bonuses while not really following the law. I hope both Europe and the US fine VW heavily for this 3 Billion plus would do it for the damage done.- 83 replies

Surprising it took this long for a University to question why everyone else has to use DEF tanks and VW did not. This should have raised red flags years ago. Like Drew and Mud, I do wonder what they are hiding with this programming. Interesting is that Europe noticed and finished their research to find that VW Diesels have been on average spewing out 7 times higher emissions than the Euro 6 standards allow. Europe report is found here: http://www.theicct.org/sites/default/files/publications/ICCT_PEMS-study_diesel-cars_20141010.pdf The report and I could totally be misunderstanding, but they say on average all the diesels in Europe put out 40% more emissions than expected for Euro6 standards and that either car companies like VW went with defeat software or too little DEF to control it. If they used the proper amount of DEF to meat the spec, the HP / Torque numbers would be noticeably reduced as would MPG.- 83 replies
