  1. NOW I wish the Ipm was running THANX
  2. Well it's not called sweat equity for nutin
  3. Reliable ROPOS's wire was already hanging down sorry you had to search so much. now I might've missed it but this is first I've heard that it's coughing through the throttle & exhaust. Before you condemn it pull the valve cover on the low compression cylinder or both if you don't have a compression tester & look for broken rocker arm's or bent push rods. the rockers won't break due to timing chain on an engine that still runs. The push rods would probably indicate a stretched timing chain that jumped. really the timing chain is an easy fix and the engine should at least have 100K mi left before needing a complete rebuild. That should last your plowing years no sweat.
  4. What a nice shop they used to have a good shop a block from Moms house that had nice old restored Packard's. I miss that shop and enjoyed yours when you go back mget more pix of the Z28 please
  5. hybrids
  6. Yeah it's on our trucks and is a must for correct timing as the computer will keep making allowances for adjustments and you wont do any good till the computer runs out of the internal adjustment so the balancer will read way off. Look here for procedure
  7. Not trying to be a smart a$$ but did you pull the timing service pigtail on the firewall before checking timing?
  8. Last Firebird concept wagon
  9. lakes
  10. Wow they've really stroked them up there
  11. Yeah I was impressed at your recovery looked like you had a lot more seat time. As far as controls IDK been broke for 6+ years
  12. C/L is the new Wish Book(Sears) for Boomers
  13. Pretty good for 5hrs of seat time! After your description of what was going on I've got a new respect for copter jockeys. BTW do or have you used a flight sim and how does it compare to a copter? I find at least WRT Cessna 172/182 it was spot on & hope that the glider is as I fly it damn well if I say so myself I do OK in the real Cessna with about 10 real seat time.
  14. 1.) Timing chain will affect all cylinders equally 2.) Cam could be responsible but you'd hear a bad lifter and a roller cam seldomly wipes out a lobe. 3.) Fuel filter will also affect all cylinders equally in all but the most worst case which might be a semi plugged injector, also the fuel regulator could mimic the bad pump. 4.) If popping through the intake that valve is bad 5.) Ditto with exhaust hold a dollar bill(any denomination you wish )& if it sucks the bill into the pipe then bingo it's a bad exhaust valve. 6.) A bad orplugged injector will cause a miss even if the compression is showing good 7.) Low compression not caused by the valves would be a hole in the piston or broken rings which can be determined if you have excess crankcase pressure(pull the PCV valve from the valve cover That should be it with the possible problems or as in my case worn out engine but I think yours doesn't go away. Best of luck to ya Camino 572???????
  15. No argument there either
  16. Escort was 5 years newer than Chevette and while GM let it wither Ford updated the Escort. About the only things new in latter years of production were the 5door body shell and BW t50 5spd manual. Updated were over after 82 and sales ended in 87. So yes a 84 Escort is a much newer & fresher car.
  17. IDK Camino in std hatch form they were a good lil ute for us. Took it camping all the time. That or the first Corvair I had
  18. IIRC it was the Lincoln Versailles pitted against the Seville That was done also, but I was referring to this: Thanx Balthy I forgot that add but remember it now because the VW I just was thinking of the Lincoln add As a side note my Auto instructor at HS would always knock his car he bought for his wife. "Hey Mr. Sylvester whose Ford is that in the shop? Oh I drove Moms Granada in today... Nice car but it's like steppin on a wet sponge 302cid with the notorious Variable Venturi(sp)carburator. I got to drive it once and he was right May God rest his soul. Looking back I sure loved that guy, missed seeing him before he died by 1 week.
  19. Navy Blue over silver with rust-belt badgeing early Cadillac Cimarron
  20. Roll
  21. IIRC it was the Lincoln Versailles pitted against the Seville
  22. But it's a POS Chevette for what it's worth! Now really I like Chevettes unlike a lot here that probably never spent .1 mile in one. We had 6 in our family over the years & I took my drivers test in my Dads new '76 canary yellow 1.6l 4speed 3.73 final drive. That was the best one I've ever driven.
  23. Funny that the 500 sold about 1 1/2 X the deficit of the Mini this month
