  1. Funny you say that, Luther P-B-G here in Fargo has Camries on the used car lot CONSTANTLY, but it is a big dealer that owns a ton of dealerships down in the Minneapolis area including a couple of Toyota dealers. I would guess that is how they are making it happen.
  2. Kind of forgot to update in here. Getting it fixed by that guy who fixes cars part time. It took him about a week to get it done, but for about half the price. $567.49. Not bad I guess. Changing out the oil and a coolant flush were included. I have put on about 500 miles since I got it back and have changed out the oil and it is running great.
  3. Well holy hell! How long can Jeff and Jimmie keep this up?
  4. Now you can take the extra 10 bonus points for winning a race into the chase with you though, so if Gordon and Jimmie keep winning the way they are, they will definately be ahead of the other 10 once they start the chase. I have a feeling this may be Gordon's year though. Gordon shows a ton more discipline when he gets in tight spots, and IMO he is the better driver.
  5. When is this party taking place? Night? Afternoon? A couple ideas that came to mind were bowling or a game night, if it is happening in the evening. If during the day sometime, how about a softball tourney or a kickball tourney? Maybe plan a camp out. Also, you could go camping as a group. Even if it was just at a campsite in your hometown, you could set up tents, have a BBQ, and a campfire with smores and hot dogs roasted on a stick and all that good stuff. Give us a little more info and maybe we can come up with something else.
  6. Well good for Blaney I guess. He is a good driver, and is a blast to watch in a sprint car. It's not his fault that his owner hops in with every new manufacturer that comes into the sport. He also missed the show last week though.
  7. North Dakota only has 5% state sales tax, but Fargo has a cent and a half tax as well. One of the reasons why I bought my Suburban at a small town dealer. I would imagine that this is the case in a lot of places.
  8. Exactly, this is the old Jeff back again. Also, Jarrett did not make the show, Toyota's money wasn't very well spent on him.
  9. Sounds like a blast. I just met up with a friend last week that I hadn't seen in almost a year. We went out to supper and picked up right where we left off. It really is amazing to me that I can have people in my life that I can not see for that long and not hear from except for the occasional drunk dial here or there and then when we finally do get together we can have as much fun as we do, like we see each other all the time.
  10. The Hendrick cars are unstopable this year, I just don't get it. Also, I won the pool at my local bar this week, finishing 1,2,4,5,6.
  11. My mom bought a 95 Lumina dustbuster van new. She loved the thing, but right after she got it she started noticing the 4 door Tahoes and traded it off on one of those. To this day, she still laughs at herself whenever she sees one of the old dustbusters and wonders WTF she was thinking.
  12. Talked to him tonight. He said he has done this same job about 30 times now with no compaints over the 3 years he has been doing it. Seems to check out with a couple people I have talked to in town. Also, he told me if I would like to, he knows of a shop that takes heads in and checks them out. He said it usually comes to about 600 once everything is said and done with an oil change and changing out the coolant and all that good stuff. I am going to talk to a couple more people tomorrow and let this guy know.
  13. I've got the 3400. I talked with a couple of guys today and they gave me the number of guy that works on cars on the weekends for some extra cash that has been doing this kind of work for a ton of people in the area. I guess he does good work too, so we'll see what I think of him when I stop by his place tonight.
  14. A TON of Acadias, and for some reason quite a few GP GXPs, many still have dealer plates as well.

    ouch

So the head gasket is going out on the Impala finally at just a little over 105K. Dealer says $1100. Seems a bit high to me. Am I mistaken? Let a guy know.
  16. I had a clutched ATV for a while and only used the clutch when initially putting it into gear when stopped. I never used the clutch once at speed. Drive a truck the same way. The old timers will grill you for not using a clutch though. I have yet to wreck anything so far. I owned that ATV for over 3 years as well and probably put over 7000 miles on it (a guess as it did not have a speedo or odometer, probably a pretty low estimate though).
  17. I love Minneapolis/St. Paul for that fact. I lived down there for part of the summer between my Junior and Senior years of high school. I lived with my cousin very close to the UofM and downtown Minneapolis. Something to do ALL the time, you are never bored, and much more cultural diversity than you get up here in North Dakota believe it or not. If I ever decided I wasn't going to farm, I would move down there in a second. In the end though, I am a small town boy. I know that is where I will end up someday, no matter where life takes me. I know that is where I want to raise my kids someday.
  18. Sounds exactly like the little town I grew up close to. Only about 400 people, and I know all of them. Almost everyone in town leaves their car unlocked even though we are only 10 mintutes from Fargo. Even if they lock their car, there is usually a spare in the gas tank. I like living in the city now, but would move back out their in a heartbeat if I got the chance. EDIT: Sorry Balthazar, I guess I did it somewhat unconscienciously, fixed though.
  19. See....it takes a while to get used to it, but once you are you can through it through traffic pretty easily. As you said though, you are a big guy and that cockpit really isn't made for big guys.
  20. That and the fact that a Lucerne CXS is not 50 grand, the 50 grand is it completely pimped out. A 5 series done up like that would cost a lot more.
  21. I'm actually like 5'8.5", but I was 5'10" before I fell off the back of my ATV, resulting in compression fractures in my T11 and T12 vertebrae.
  22. My sister has an 04 Grand Prix, and I understand how you feel while inside it. Whenever I climb into the driver seat of that car, I find it almost impossible to find a comfortable place to drive. Once putting it into drive, I almost feel retarded while behind the wheel, BUT after driving it for 20 minutes or so I start to feel at home behind the wheel. After getting used to the dynamics, I feel much more connected to the road than I usually do in my Impala. Overall the suspension is pretty close to my Impala, but body roll is controlled much better than it is in my W body. As far as the seats, I really have grown to love them, so much so that I looked into fitting a set of Grand Prix leathers into my Impala. I love the side bolsters, but that may be because they fit me perfectly. Also, I am not that big of a guy, only 5'8" so there is plenty of room for me inside. Again I undetstand how you feel. Overall the car is decent. Nothing spectacular, but I wouldn't mind having one around to through a few miles on. My sister and I got almost 28 miles per gallon on our last trip to Minneapolis.
  23. Read an article that said GM confirmed at NYIAS that the 6 speeds were coming for 2009.
  24. They sold the last gen Malibu alongside the current generation as a Mabilu Classic for a year or two. Nothing wrong with getting rid of a few parts.
  25. It actually looks really good. Get it running right and its a damn nice first car. Congrats.
