  1. Well, first of all. Happy Thanksgiving to all. I have much to be thankful for on this day. Last night we had a close call with my grandmother. There are a lot of details that I would rather not get into here, but luckily she is still with us. For that reason, I have everything to be thankful for this day. This may seem trivial considering it all, but last night on the way back from the hospital in Grand Forks, I had the pleasure of meeting up with a little bit of nature. A (4x5 buck) and my Suburban had a little run in. Instinctively I applied the brakes when I saw him coming out of the ditch, had I not, I might have whizzed right by him. Anyway, I can't do much about it now, but here are some pictures of the aftermath. Sorry it's so dirty, the gravel roads are a mess around here right now. It got every panel on the driver's side. The doors took the brunt of it. I would imagine they both need new skins to fix them right. One of the horns I think must have done this. It sure did a number. There are creases from the horns above the front wheel well, under the side view mirror, and above the gas cap. They were not visible in any of the pictures because of the dirt, but I don't envision it being clean in the near future, so I snapped these pics. Again, Happy Thanksgiving to all.
  2. What a coincidence. My Suburban and I got an awfully nice early birthday present tonight....If I can stomach it I'll post pics later.
  3. I'm going to go out on black friday and pick up as many DVDs and TV seasons that I can buy for a decent price. That is usually what I get my friends. I'll keep any of the extras I don't give away. As for big gifts, no idea what I'm going to get my mother. I am going to get my dad a Logitec Harmony Remote. For those of you who don't know what that is, it is a remote that does EVERYTHING for you. And I mean everything. You just hit a button and everything turns on and goes to the proper settings. So instead of using 4 different remotes to be able to switch from TV to DVD, its one button. I got mine back in July and knew that is what I was getting my dad immediately. I bought it on eBay last week, so it should be here soon. My sisters will probably just get cash. It's what they want most anyway, and the 5 year old sister will probably get something fun. I asked my parents for an iPod touch. The old one is getting pretty wore out. We'll see if they come through. They still spoil me because of the younger sisters. I asked them for a nice set of pots and pans if nothing else. The set I have now, is a mismatched set from the 70s I believe with a few new pots thrown in here and there.
  4. I finally got into one and got to feel it up. I love it.
  5. NO KIDDING. Theresa can take it and shove it. That is Jr.'s company, not hers. She'll be lucky if DEI is still in business in a few more years.
  6. I always leave mine next to my bed. What's better than having bacon in the morning. It's healthy for you.
  7. For sure, I didn't like it too much in pictures, but I finally saw one in the flesh. The side profile looks DAMN good, and the rear looks much better in the flesh.
  8. Wierd because I have had two Samsung DVD players last about a year....one just under a year so I got it replaced with a second one. The second one crapped out after about 13 months. I'm done with samsung DVD players. My Samsung DLP on the other hand has been great. I have had the best luck with Toshiba DVD players. The one in my bedroom is over 5 years old and still works great. I have an upconvert HDMI Toshiba in my living room that still works great after a couple years. I'll stick with Toshiba when I pick up an HDDVD player one of these days. As for VCRs....I don't use them anymore. I got my parents off that old school crap too. My parents have a 1980s something that is sitting in a closet that I'm sure still works if they ever want to watch a VCR tape again one day. I spent a lot of time watching videos on that thing when I was a kid. Why they never replaced it with something where you didn't have to HOLD DOWN the Rewind or FF buttons for as long as you wanted to navigate through the tape, I have no idea.
  9. I could see where this vehicle could fit perfectly into my life, if I had the cash to go out and buy a loaded Tahoe. Also, the 2-mode is in almost the same price range as an LTZ and will be appointed in almost the same fashion. With the tax credit, it is basically a wash, so quit bitching about the price. I live and work in the city of Fargo, and do probably 30-60% of my driving in the city depending on the time of year. My family owns a farm, on which I work as well. I need a vehilce that has 4WD and can do some pulling. The 2-mode Tahoe would fit perfectly into my life. Great mileage in the city, where I currently get about 10mpg in my 03 Suburban, and the brawn to get some work done in the country. I'm sure a statement similar to this could be said for many others. For example there are plenty of people who live and work in the the Minneapolis, MN area who spend a lot of time in traffic on the weekdays, then head a few hours north up to lakes country of Minnesota on the weekends. A lot of them probably pull their boat, or a camper with them. The hybrid Tahoe would work perfectly for someone in that situation. Your not going to be pulling a 30 foot camper trailer with a minivan, or a 20 foot ski boat. The Hybrid Tahoe makes perfect sense in the world of 3 dollar a gallon gas. Hopefully once they start rolling out the technology, I will be able to pick up a reletively stripped down 2 mode Silverado that agrees a little more with my wallet.

    To OCNBLU

I knew she was going to start to collapse one of these days. I hope she gets the help she needs.
  11. Insane that GM can still get grilled for not differentiating the Suburban/Tahoe and the Silverado enough (same in the GMC department), yet Toyo can go and slap a Tundra front on this blob and not even have them mention it.
  12. I wasn't saying that they shouldn't be able to compete. I get how that works. I will take an Enclave any day over a CX-9. To each his own I guess. I think the Mazda is ugly.
  13. I asked my dad what he has been getting with his 08 Silverado. It's a 5.3 4WD with the 3.73 and he said over the first few tanks he has gotten just under 15mpg. Keep in mind that it only has a couple thousand miles on it and is in the break-in period. He hasn't done a ton of highway driving with it thus far either. Also, he has usually been in Auto 4WD (which knocks off about 1mpg in my Suburban) or full time 4WD when he has been in the field this fall. I don't think it is too bad considering what he is doing with it and considering that I get somewhere in the neighborhood of 12mpg with my Suburban doing the same thing. I would imagine once it is broken in he could expect 17-18 on the highway.
  14. Why? I can remember twice when I haven't been able to open the back of my Suburban because the door was too big. That was only because I didn't have it parked so that I could. I would much rather have one big door with the option of just opening the glass, than have to open up 3 different doors to fully access the back. In the Escalade it is all automated, so who cares how big the door is. It swings up and and is completely out of the way, no barn doors to get around. As far as the BRX. I'm sure they will sell. AWD the is RWD biased would be best if you ask me. I prefer RWD in pickups and SUVs though. Most woman (most of the BRX buyers most likely) could probably care less what wheels are driving the car. I'm sure it will look good and I'm sure it will sell. I just hope they keep the SRX in the end and make it a little more SUV like. I am not a big fan of wagon looks, so that may just be me.
  15. Especially considering that the CX-9 is ugly from most angles and that the Enclave is beautiful.
  16. Happy birthday boys! Hope it was a good one.
  17. Patriots? ohhhhh the New England Cheaters? I don't pay much attention to them but how bout them Packers?
  18. How about that Bison Football? They pulled off their 2nd last second winning drive this season for their 14th straight win (the longest streak in D1AA football) and go into the final game (which I will be attending in South Dakota) as the #1 team in the nation and undefeated for the season. I was driving when the game was on and I almost shut it off and turned on Sirius because they were down 9-28 going into the 4th quarter. To bad we don't get to compete in the playoffs until next year.
  19. I delt (and still do to an extent) with the movie Fargo....not a fair representation at all. I'm over it.
  20. well now all I need is a car....watch out Gordon.
  21. is outrageous. I will do my own oil changes thank you.
  22. How about we invest more in hydrogen infrastructure and forget about the MPG bull$h! by 2030.
  23. I didn't think this was going to be about your Oldsmobile.....anyway....I'm going hunting.
