  1. I decided that I want Satellite Radio. I spend a lot of time on the road or in the field, so I figure that it would be a wise investment in my future entertainment. My Suburban is XM ready so I could add that easily, and my Pioneer deck in my Impala could have either tuner and antenna added to it for about 50 bucks on ebay and an hour's worth of tinkering around in the car. You can have 2 tuners for 20 bucks a month with either service, so I would probably have one dedicated system in one of the vehicles. If I were to go with Sirius I would put a dedicated tuner in my Impala and then have a Mobile unit in my Suburban that I could take out on the lake in the summer, in the field in the Spring or fall, in the house for the home stereo, or anywhere else my heart desired. If I were to go with XM, it would save me a little bit of cash, since the Suburban is already equipped. Then the mobile unit would go in the Impala. Both services has a trial program where you can listen to most of their channels online, so I have been doing that this week. They both have channels that I enjoy. Sirius has NASCAR which is swaying me that way somewhat, but it is not a deciding factor, as I do not enjoy listening to NASCAR that much. I would much rather watch it. I have also heard that XM has a better satellite setup, in that their 2 satellites are always over the US. Sirius usually only has 1 of their 3 over the US at any given time. At least that is what I am told. I am still in the middle, so I would love to hear some testimonials. I am sure there are a lot of people on here who have had XM for at least 3 months from when they have bought new GM vehicles. I hope someone has something to say about Sirius as well. So to those of you who have it and use it, why do you love either service? Anyone had any problems with service? Let me know your thoughts.
  2. You have too much time on your hands there sir.
  3. Seems that I see at least one 9-7 every time I venture to Minneapolis. Saw one today downtown when we went to the Twins game.
  4. I hear ya. I always felt a little wierd on that bridge as well. My cousin takes that stretch of road every day to get to work, but luckily he was safely at home by the time it happened. I tried calling him right after it happened just to check up on him and I think I tried over 50 times by the time my call actually went through.
  5. B-E-A-UTIFUL truck. I love the 20s on the Silverado. I didn't realize you could get them without going up to an LTZ. Can you do that with the MAX package or can you get them on any Silverado. Love the color, love that you went with the extended cab, love everything about it.
  6. When I first got my Impala I wasn't too sure how much I liked Bronzemist, but after driving it a few years, I absolutely love it. Easy to keep clean and it looks absolutely gorgeous (to me at least) in the sun after a fresh wash. Not sure if it would be my first choice on the Enclave as I think the Enclave is beautiful is white diamond.
  7. There was an older couple in my hometown with this on their DeVille. I never got a chance to ask them how it worked, but they only had the car for about a year before the got rid of it.
  8. I would be VERY suprised if Bud decided to back Kahne after the year that he has had so far. They have a good thing going with Jr. I sure hope he starts running well at Hendrick though. Hendrick is putting together the most solid package so far this year. All of their drivers had one a race this year. If they can keep doing that next year with Jr. on board, then Jr. will have no excuse not to be running well. I really don't think DEI is giving him the cars that he needs to run well.
  9. From what I have read, as of now, Casey Mears will be moving to the #5 when Busch leaves, and Jr. will be driving the #25 Budwieser car. Bud used to sponsor the #25 back in the day. Also, from what I have heard is that if Jr. were to ever go to RCR and drive the #3, it would be at the end of his career.
  10. I was wondering if Hendrick was going to get him. Holy moly though, Jimmie, Jeff, and Jr all in one camp. That is a force to be reckoned with.
  11. Hit 160 in a 06 Corvette. I don't know how many of you have been to Eastern North Dakota, but it is flat. No hills in site unless they are man-made. It is the norm for roads to be completely straight for 15 or 20 miles, so it is easy to get going fast. It was the middle of the night, on a county road, and I knew there wouldn't be any cops, so I pegged it. I got scared at 160, so I backed it down but still went about 130 all the way to the next town. I'm going to have to get my own car like that someday. So much fun.
  12. Well, I have a 2002 Impala Base, so it has the 3.4 instead of the 3.8. Its a great highway car, which is what I use it for mainly. I have almost 108K on it, and just replaced the head gasket. You most likely will run into that issue on the 3.8 as well somewhere down the road. They guy who owned it before me had the CPU replaced at about 50K, and other than that I haven't had to do anything besides oil changes and new tires at 65K. They interior is relatively well put together, with only a few issues with rattles. My transmission bucks a little between 1st and 2nd, but it was rear ended a couple of years ago , while parked, and that is when I started noticing the buck, so I would say the buck is a result of the accident. The 3.4 lacks a little though, so going with the LS would definately be the way to go. My sister has a 04 Grand Prix with the 3.8/4 speed and it runs great. Definately stick with an 01 and up though. In the 00s, they had an issue with the aluminum engine cradle cracking because it wasn't welded correctly. They fixed that for 01. If I remember correctly they made a couple of impovements to the heating and cooling system for 02, but that was about it. I really do like my Impala, I say go for it. There isn't an engine much more bulletproof than the 3.8.
  13. I love the 5.3 in my 03 Suburban and that is without the power boost. It does anything I ask of it and gets respectable mileage to boot. I would say I am pulling a trailer about 20% of the time I am using it, ranging anywhere from just a golf cart trailer to a 19 foot fishing boat or all the way to a steal 4 place snowmobile trailer, that is not light by any means. Although it hunts for gears every once in a while once you get into hilly terrain, I wouldn't trade it for the 6.0. The gas mileage hit wouldn't be worth the extra power to me, because they really are pigs. If I was going to go to anything besides the 5.3, it would be the Duramax.
  14. I've been thinking of getting an AppleTV but I have a few more things I would like to drop some cash on first. Funny you brought this thread up though since I just purchased a new TV myself Memorial Day weekend. A 61" Samsung DLP 1080p. I LOVE the thing. My dad has a 52" LG 720p and this Samsung is lightyears ahead of his. Especially when it comes to blacks (where the earlier DLPs lack the most) Also, the levels of green are much more under control on the 1080 DLP chip. I really thought heavily about picking up an LCD panel, but you just get a bigger TV for the money by going DLP, plus I already had a an entertainment center set up to fit this monster. If I ever do get a LCD someday, it is going on the wall. The greatest thing about the TV though is that it has a PC input. So hopefully sometime this summer I'm going to get a new computer that I can run through the TV. Set it up with a wireless keyboard and mouse and with cable so that I can record all my favorite shows. What the heck would Cheers and Gears look like on a 61" screen?.....damn.
  15. Very nice, if I ever find a nice early 2000 something Maxima for a deal I'm buying it. Especially if I found one after the minor refresh and the addition of HID headlights and all. I've always liked those cars. Best of luck with it.
  16. Happy Birthday a little late....I hope it was a good one buddy.
  17. ooo....definately, not what i meant with that comment at all, though it is pretty amazing that it is Hendrick's 9th win. Casey has always impressed me and the fact that they finally pulled it together for a win is quite the acomplishment.
  18. Well in that case......feliz cumpleaños. I hope you had a good one Chargerino
  19. Welcome to the party!
  20. All three are very good singers. Melinda is a hell of a singer, but when it comes down to marketability, I don't know how many albums she would sell with her face on the cover, she isn't that attractive at all. Blake has done some great things, but most of the time he disappoints me. Although he has the looks to sell albums. No matter what he is going to get a deal. From the sounds of it he was kinda a big deal in the Seattle area already before getting on Idol. I don't know what exactly to say about Jordan. She has quite the voice for a 17 year old, and she has family ties up here in North Dakota, so I would almost like to see her win for that reason. I don't know how many records she would sell though. She has never done anything that I absolutely loved. In the end, I'm pulling for Blake. He has everything there to sell records. I really loved a few of the songs he did, if he had the chance to make an album full of all his best stuff, it would sell.
  21. CAFE doesn't have anything to do with medium duty trucks, unless I am mistaken.
  22. Very cool! Not over the top at all. Classy in fact.
