  1. Hmmm, well, pictures would end mental speculation. Otherwise, we're left to our imaginations, which could lead to all sorts of things! I'm just sayin'.....
  2. On purpose, or was this a surprise when you woke up one morning after a long night of....?
  3. Yep, that's the appeal for me. They aren't very exciting, but I have a real practical streak in me and the minivan seems to fit the bill. I've owned two vehicles at the same time before but I don't want to go through that again so my one vehicle needs to do a lot of things. Plus, I've never owned a minivan so it will be a new experience if I get one.
  4. Well, the lease on my Malibu ends in a couple of months so I'm trying to decide what comes next. It takes me a long time to decide on a vehicle so I've been thinking about this for several months already. As is probably true with most people, I have conflicting wants and needs. This time around I may end up with a minivan. I've already started getting grief over the idea from people I know. I'm a single guy with no kids but I'm leaning towards one because they're big, they're quiet, they ride nicely, they get sort of decent gas mileage, I can carry stuff when necessary and I can sleep in it when I go camping without needing to worry about the weather. Maybe I'll go for the Dodge 'Man Van' to up the excitement quotient.
  5. I'm not sure how rigid the definition of haiku is myself, but that's the first thing I thought of. I liked the image it made in my head.
  6. Amen to that! 2010 had a few bright spots and looked promising at first but crashed and burned in the end. Here's hoping 2011 is a much better year for all.
  7. I always feel bad for the horse, having to cart people around out in the cold.
  8. I think I just gained 10 pounds from those pictures. YUM!
  9. My incredible powers of deduction tell me that either there are cannibals roaming your neighborhood or you've been reading the personal ads on Craigslist again!
  10. It's your house so if you like it, then do it. The next question would be, what does it do for (or to) potential resale? In that regard, I'm not sure. If buyers like or don't mind an eclectic look, then it shouldn't be a problem. However, if buyers like a consistent look throughout the house, then that would be a negative. In earlier times, it wasn't unusual to find a more expensive wood in the public spaces where guests could see it. On the scond floor, in the private spaces you'd find a less expensive wood. I don't know that I've seen a mixture on the same floor.
  11. Wow, you mean Priceline is going to allow you to bid on hookers?

    LOL

I've watched the show since it started. It is not always funny, but when it is, it's hilarious. My only complaint is that they made the two gay characters so stereotypical. That irritates me, but they also made them so likeable, it's hard to be too upset.
  13. I would always be concerned about the cost of future repairs. Maybe I have a distorted perception of the cost of maintenance for these types of cars, but I couldn't do it.
  14. That is pretty funny. I watched it twice, but I still don't understand what it is that he's so upset about?
  15. Absolutely! I get so angry at the 'morality' mindset of politicians in this country. I have to believe that in private, most of them probably don't give a crap but they wouldn't dare say that in public. I understand that legalizing most drugs would be a disaster, but pot? Seriously? If they leagalized it, it would finally be an example of rational thinking in public policy. I just don't see it happening any time soon. I hope I'm wrong.
  16. There are rumblings in various states about legalizing pot. I think it's only a matter of time before it happens nationwide. So, I'm just curious, if pot becomes legal and generally available, would you start using it if you don't already? If you already use pot, would you use it more? I tried it a couple of times in college and didn't like how it affected me. I say legalize it if they want, but I won't be using it.

    New Life

That's nice to hear. Whenever I go back home to Ohio, I always check out the car lots I used to roam on the weekends as a teenager. Only one still exists. It makes me sad to think about it, but that's the way things go. Nothing is forever. Anyway, I hope you are enjoying your vacation.
  18. That's pretty cool...but hoagiefest? Oh baby!!!

    hookah

That's true, but still, I don't get having smoking be part of a social activity. Oh well, whatever.

    hookah

There's been one here in Rochester for several years now. I don't get it, but then I don't understand smoking anyway. It just seems like people are running out of ideas for something to do.
  21. It's not electronic entertainment that's the problem. It's the failure to parent. There will always be something new coming along to entice kids that makes the job of a parent more difficult. However, it always comes back to how the parent chooses to teach their kids to handle the temptations of life.

    Sex Is....

    ...overrated. I'm feeling philosophical again.
  23. Well, not recently, but it did stike a certain chord with me when I did read it.
  24. The solution is easy. All of the food serving businesses in the state band together and go on strike. Then see how long it takes for the people of the state to tell the legislators to back off. I bet it wouldn't take very long at all. Actually, I'd also like to see the car makers and their dealerships in California do a similar thing. The state legislature mandates that cars can’t be sold in California unless they meet some ridiculous emissions requirements or this thing about having to make the interiors of cars cooler so drives won’t use their air conditioners so much. The car makers and dealers say “Fine, we won’t sell cars in California anymore.” How long would that last? There has to be a limit to the laws that can be made by a legislative body just because they think they can make them.
