  1. Well, let's see, on New Year's eve, I started reading a book. Then on New Year's day, I continued reading the same book. So, to sum up, started reading book and continued reading book. Oh man, I'm pathetic....
  2. Out of the box, this car doesn't look as 'luxury' as the Cadillac Sixteen (still one of my all time favorite concepts), but it is a car that would make people look twice at it. They could give it some more chrome accents and I wouldn't be upset if they did something different with the headlights.
  3. "It needs to be LONGER. Whats rong with american automakers scared to have a lenghty car? They should've used the wheelbase length of the earlier Imperials or use something close to the Audi's A8 wheelbase." The long wheelbase A8 is 121 in. and its overall length is 204 in . If the specs we have so far are correct, the Imperial, at 123 in wheelbase and overall length of 214 in. has it beat. Personally, I like it alot. I've wondered for a long time why no one has produced a 'tall' luxury car. One of the nice things about minivans is that they are so easy to get in and out of because it sits so high up. Luxury cars don't necessarily need to have the handling of a sports car, they just need to give a confident feel when driving and turning corners. For the people who would most likely buy this type of car, I think a well proportioned, tall vehicle would be perfect. At first, I thought it looked too much like a Rolls also, but not so much anymore. I can definitely see bits of the old Imperials in the design. I'm very anxious to see the actual interior. I hope it is as elegant looking as the outside.

    Time Square

Well, for what it's worth, I'll bet that once you do it, you'll never do it again. That was the way I felt when I went. It is an experience I must say, but not something worth repeating for me. You end up standing in a sea of people and can barely move. As the crowd moves, so do you. At one point, I was being crushed into a fence and trying to prevent this little kid beside me from being smooshed because the crowd shifted and there was nothing I could do to get away from it. People were throwing fireworks up into the air that came back down and exploded way too close for comfort because, again, you can't move to get away. Then there was the champagne being squirted up into the air, which also came back down on top of the crowd. It was cold and it was loud. After standing there for hours doing basically nothing, the big moment arrives. The ball starts to drop. People start counting backwards and the new year arrives. Then, everybody runs for the subways and that was it. Never again!
  5. ABSOLUETLY GREAT!!! I love it when people do wild, off the wall kind of stuff like this. It shows a very creative mind.
  6. There is definitely something wrong with that site. I can get the pictures to show up (sometimes) but I can't get to www.autoweek.com at all.
  7. Now wait a minute!! I have a Maxx and I certainly don't love Joshy's poo. That's just wrong.
  8. It all depends on what you want. I looked at both cars and decided on an '05 Maxx. I liked the look of the G6 better, but I wanted the versatility of the Maxx. I like the overall shape of the car but I could do without the swooshes on the sides and I've kind of grown to like the front. All things considered, I am very happy with my choice.
  9. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie too, but I'm a bit hesitant. <confession time> I read the short story and got to where I couldn't see to continue reading. I don't know that I've ever actually cried reading anything before. I don't know what it is about this story that hit me so hard but it did. I'm sure I'm going to be a mess seeing the movie. I'll have to sit by myself way up in a corner somewhere with a pocket full of kleenex.
  10. The amusing thing about this is that the backers of 'Intelligent Design' insist that there is nothing religious about it and that they make no claim that the 'designer' is God. So, if that's true, what's brother Pat's point? These people need to get their stories straight.

    HHR CONCEPT

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't we supposed to see some vehicle sometime this fall that was going to give an idea of the "new face" of Chevrolet as far as future styling goes? Is it possible this is it? By the way, I like this very much!!
  12. Up til now, when each Cadillac vehicle has been redesigned, its name has been dropped and it is give a three letter disignation. How come the Escalade gets to keep its name? Not that I mind, I'm just curious. It seems out of place with the rest of the vehicle lineup.
  13. 'Stirrup' pants, and a 'halter' top, of course!
  14. If you did put the shelves into slots as suggested by z28, that would help make it more sturdy, but for your project, it isn't necessary as long as the weight on the shelves isn't too heavy. However, to make it rigid and not wobble side to side, you will have to put something on the back. Either a sheet of thin plywood over the entire back, or you can just use small rectangular pieces at the top and bottom. They don't have to be real big, but they should be big enough to so that you can get at least two screws or nails on either side and not too close together. I hope that makes sense.

    w00t!

I don't know why these two posts taken together struck me as so funny, but I just laughed out loud at work!! With the day I've had, I needed that. Thank you.
  16. You know, I seriously try to refrain from bashing the president, but I just do not understand this man sometimes. Someone needs to sit him down and explain a few things to him. Like the concept of math and economics and why it is just insane (and grossly unfair to future generations) to keep spending money without some kind of a plan to do something to pay for it.
  17. Well, this just explains it all: "Don Feder, a respected figure on the religious right and a former columnist for the Boston Herald, says that the hurricane was God's punishment for California's legislature approving marriage rights for gays, the vandalizing of Gaza's synagogues, and the recent Pledge of Allegiance court ruling." Who knew???

    Pictures!

Seems like Aquaman would be the more logical choice.
  19. The CXS model I saw was silver with black interior. It had a very dark gray, nearly black, colored "wood" on the dash. I'm assuming it was supposed to be wood. From what I remember, it was pretty shiny, so maybe it was supposed to be granite??
  20. Well, I guess I'd say the materials are in the same vein as the Lacrosse, maybe a little better but it's been a while since I was in a Lacrosse so I can't say for sure. Everything seemed well put together and sitting in it was definitely more comfortable (for me, anyway) than sitting in the LeSabre. I hated the seats in the LeSabre and they felt too close to the floor. The Lucerne sits higher and the seats were more comfortable, especially in the back. The CXS looks good with the 18" wheels. I'm guessing at the size, so I could be wrong about that, but they did look good!
  21. Dorschel Buick (Rochester, NY) had a production version of a new Lucerne CXS on display last week. I'm not sure it if is still there or not. It wasn't for sale, they were using it to generate interest I guess. It was open and fully accessable. I was all over it. Very nice for a big ol' 4 door sedan. Much better looking in person than in pictures. They also had it sitting right next to a LeSabre, which just made the LeSabre look all the more crappy.
  22. Welcome back everybody! I don't want to break any rules so I offer no opinions or comments on this topic, but I got such a big laugh out of this I had to share.... http://www.venganza.org
