GM News: GM Truck Diesel Power Figures Released
ccap41 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in General Motors
Making the price of entry the same as the 6.2 and not thousands above it, like their competition, is going to make this A LOT more enticing than the competition's baby diesels. Good for them. -
Yeah, I saw that after I posted this. I opened C&G and was still in that last thread so as I was reading through that I posted the comment.

Industry News: Trump Raises Tariffs on All Mexican Goods

I'd say you triggered some quite well... ? -
Yeah, this V seems to have replaced the V Sport and whatever they decide to name the more serious version will be the replacement for the previous V. It's a shuffling of the names that seems completely unnecessary.

Fun fact: Mercedes C43 fake-AMG makes 385hp at, you guessed it, 6100rpm. Last I knew, it was also a DOHC engine. ?
-
The 6.2 Camaro peaks at 6000rpm and redline is at 6500rpm... I don't have the answer but it's a pretty common occurrence.
-
Well, talk to the engineers about that. I had to go to a dealer website to make sure I found a 2.3's instrument cluster. https://www.driveprime.com/new-Prime+Motor+Group-2018-Ford-Mustang-EcoBoost-1FATP8UH6J5100685

The Mustang's 2.3 makes peak power at 5700rpm. Not sure what redline is but proably 6000-6300 maybe. Fusion 2.0 makes peak power at 5500rpm. The Camaro 2.0 makes peak power at 5600rpm so likely similar. I'll look harder. It might have been a TFL video where they were talking to an engineer but I am certain I read or heard a quote that it was for trucks because of NVH.

In all fairness, GM themselves said it was a truck engine.. So GM is following step for step with Mercedes and BMW with the "fake AMG" and 'fake M' naming on middle of the pack cars now.. awesome..

Anything that doesn't have the word "Trail" in the name would be more appropriate.- 42 replies

Chevrolet News:Chevrolet Debuts 2021 Trailblazer
ccap41 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
I have zero issue with them reusing the name but it's awkward on the size of vehicle they chose to use for it... I almost feel like they should have done what Ford is doing with the next Escape/Baby Bronco and the Trailblazer name should be used on an off-road version of the Equinox or Blazer. Yeah, FWD based.. but they could make it work if they made it its own model. If Jeep can make off-roady FWD CUVs, GM can as well. I mean the name "Trail-Blazer" doesn't sound like the name of a Camaro-inspired, FWD CUV with 4 inches of ground clearance and no form of locking differentials(I know that wasn't stated but let's be honest...)- 42 replies

Toyota News: Rumorpile: Next Gen Tundra to get Twin-Turbo V6 Hybrid
ccap41 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Toyota
I'm still surprised they didn't make a new inline 6 for the Supra that could be shared with the Tacoma, Tundra, Sequoia, Highlander, and 4Runner to amortize the costs.. G-Wagen is brand new!! *triggered* They appeared to take it serious when this current generation first came out as well though... Then let it just rot away because it still couldn't touch the sales of the D3. -
Yeah airport parking is insane. Depending how close/far away you are it's $7.00(reasonable) to $30 a day here at Lambert(Just checked). Most seem to be in the $10-$20 range. That sht adds up.

They can be extremely convenient. A couple years ago when we went to Vegas, we never needed to rent a vehicle because we were close enough to walk most places but those we couldn't the $10-30 for an Uber/Lyft was way cheaper and even more convenient than finding a place to park and most likely paying to park as well. We also use them if we're going out drinking places, no worry of a DUI if you're not driving. It's really all about location. When you're in a larger populated area, it's way more convenient to Uber/Lyft then drive a lot of the time.

I haven't read through everything but I saw sales comparisons.. Don't all new entries come out of the gate pretty hot? I think the Escalade and 'Gator numbers are pretty impressive not only besting the "competition" but the Escalade is the oldest by a country mile. Pretty much Escalade. The Navigator is the only true competition when it comes to a vehicle THAT size.

Sht. What'd you do??? Hows the recovery coming along?

And yet the autos of today are leaps and bounds safer than those steel bumpers and 15-18 inches of "crumple zones". If they were truly crumple zones, they wouldn't have been as unsafe as they were.
-
3 inches of air or plastic won't have any effect on repairing an impact.
-
Yeah, I don't like that at all. This must be a safety thing and if somebody falls asleep/passes out the vehicle won't move forward upon waking up and/or moving their foot. About how long did it take before the message comes up and you need to do this?
-
When I had a rental Ecosport recently, I wish I would have tested that out. I would have liked to experience it, even though it would infuriate me. Did it warn you or just automatically say you must put the vehicle in park and restart it? If it gave you a little 5 second count down, it wouldn't be too bad. You just take your foot off the brake(or not even because they fire up before your foot is even off the pedal) for a second to fire it back up for a second then.
