Industry News: Could Pricing Finally Crack Truck Buyer Loyalty?
ccap41 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Industry News
A little googling and maths give me this. Please correct me if I'm wrong. This is considering a semi's maximum weight on US roads is 80,000lbs CGVW Truck Weight Trailer Weight Percent of weight the truck is to the trailer 18,500 61,500 30.08% 7,000 35,000 20.00% It is about how I would expect it to be with the semi truck being a larger percentage of total weight.- 45 replies

Industry News: Could Pricing Finally Crack Truck Buyer Loyalty?
ccap41 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Industry News
Whatever it is that is heating the batteries, is reducing range. EV semi trucks will not be parked inside at night to keep the battery nice and toasty. Pulling the weight is rarely the issue. It's actually handling and stopping that weight and that requires a truck with mass. It absolutely cannot be a half-ton-sized truck. You just can't have a 5500lb truck pulling 35,000lbs.- 45 replies

2019 vs 2018 11,805 vs 8,276 Tiguan 7,381 vs 6,063 Atlas Those are their only two CUVs. The other two you might be eyeing aren't current models and were discontinued.

It isn't half but when reading up on EVs a 30% drop in range isn't uncommon in 30 degrees F temps. It's pretty much the norm. I have no clue what it's like when you approach zero degrees F or below.- 45 replies

That's yet another major factor, temperature range drop. Their 300-500 mile range drops to 200-350 miles.- 45 replies

And they still cannot touch the range of the Kenworth. 100-177 gallon tanks getting 5mpg(per fuelly.com) = 500-885 miles.- 45 replies

Industry News: Could Pricing Finally Crack Truck Buyer Loyalty?
ccap41 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Industry News
Little do you know the D3 already have trucks capable of towing north or 30,000lbs. I agree it'll be a little disturbing to the market but I don't think a full EV with a towing capacity of that much will really be all that sought after for the towing capability. Anybody towing that much has to be getting like 20% of range. They're definitely not towing their boat a few hours to their lake house. I don't think maximum capability will be the issue, it will be the range when you're towing.- 45 replies

I know it's anecdotal but I haven't heard a single person talk about or mention waiting for an EV full size truck outside of dfelt.- 45 replies

Industry News: Could Pricing Finally Crack Truck Buyer Loyalty?
ccap41 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Industry News
This makes sense to me. A lot of truck buyers are loyal but I also know a lot still want a truck and will look for a good price. If the numbers don't line up and they need to look at a different brand.. they seem to want a truck more than they NEED to have a specific brand.- 45 replies

Winter tires are a game changer. -
There are plenty of shipping companies and airlines that just move people and packages. Are they not worth it either? I'm not saying the share price is worth the gamble or that anything specifically about this company is but to say a taxi company isn't worth it, I find odd. It seems like less and less people get their license every year because they don't care about driving and these services are becoming bigger and bigger. Look at the big automakers who are having "mobility" divisions, this is a part of that.

Mercedez Benz News Mercedes-Benz Introduces the A 35 Sedan
ccap41 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Mercedes-Benz
We also know BMW is very well known for underrating their engines. A "255" hp engine is very likely close to 300hp. Their previous 2.0T in the 3 Series at 240hp/255tq outran the 272hp/260tq ATS. They do, they just don't have those in "regularly available" trims. As soon as the CT5 comes out ditching that n/a 3.6, it will be great. V Sport is the 3rd engine up the line, V Series is obviously the top engine in the line, and the 3.0TT was also the top engine(above a 2.0T and the damn n/a 3.6) at the time until the 4.0TT comes/came out. -

We need proof of this claim.. No way does it look new at 140,000 miles with a giant occupying the seat for those miles. -
I definitely do not think it is worth investing in but I do not think "No alternative taxi ride type company is worth this."

I don't think people are really disappointed in the XT6's looks as much as the substance. The 3 Series you commented to smk about. -

I think it looks good outside. I think it looks good inside. I'd drive one but the price tag is just too much for the size of vehicle(assuming, because it's a Mercedes). -
After owning an Escape and now an MKC, again, you'd be surprised how different they are. Lincolns have adaptable/customizable suspensions, the MKC has a wider track front and rear than an Escape, all double pane glass and thicker door seals to isolate outside noises, the only thing inside that represents a Ford is the window and light switch-gear.
