  1. I read somewhere today that they produce 56 Gs a day so you can do the math for yearly numbers.
  2. 2014 G Wagon sold 3090 2015 G Wagon sold 3616 If that is your idea of HUGE DEMAND, I would hate to think what you think is profitable demand should be. The G Wagon by any other company would have been killed off as a retail auto with numbers like that. Now I admit, the web site I looked at could be wrong, but then I did not see G Wagon in the listing for numbers sold in the cheers and gears section, so did a quick search and came up with these numbers based on other auto sites. No matter how you look at it, it still looks like a failure. Then do you consider the Miata(2014 sales: 4745, 2015 sales: 8591), Panamera(2014: 5740, 2015: 4985), Jag F-Type(2014: 4112 2015: 4629) all to be failures? Especially the Miata, right? Development costs must make margins a hell of a lot tighter than a G Wagen. Miatas must be failures then... AXE THE MIATA! F-Types are so new the R&D cannot be paid for already. That too much be a failure especially because they start well under 100k. FAIL. Uh oh, Genesis Coupe has only sold 1514 units in 2014 and 1029 units in 2015. That vehicle must be a failure as well.
  3. See, that's actually why I am fine with it. It's still a raw OLD off road 4x4 dressed up for the Hollywoods of the world. They don't drive great, they don't stop or turn very well, terrible mpg but they're old school. Nothing else is like it other than a Wrangler, really. Yeah, it'd be cool if it got an all-new chassis but nobody wants it to look any different. Make it even more off-road worthy for those who won't even take a step in their own yard let alone take one of these in the mud. In your opinion, what would YOU change about the G?
  4. I'd love me some G Wagen but that red and black on looks like trash. If money can be left over(as you did) Give me the A-Team Chevy Van and with the remaining 100k give me a: 03-04 Terminator(25k) ATS-V 65k Used Street Triple 675 6k The remaining 4k or so would go towards a used Rolex Datejust. It would look about like this. The face would have to be white or black and I want the diamonds at the hour markers.
  5. No it's giving the customers who want a G...a G. They sell every one they make, they're hand made still.99.99% never touch 200mph in their exotics but it's something they need to do. People buying cars like this or a 458 aren't buying the car to DO what it can do. They're buying the capability to do it and frankly to say, " hey my car can do this." Personally, I don't understand the hatred towards the G because of how capable and tank-like that they are. They're a modern old school like the Toyota (I forgot the name of the one they're making a retro version of) that everybody freakin loves. If they got rid of it people would ask, "why can't we get a vehicle to do XXX?" So they just never stopped making it as opposed to most that make soemthing super awesome and get rid of it a few years later. Like the Chevy SS. Its the almost perfect enthusiast car, 6.2 Chevy V8, manual transmission, sedan(because as adults coupes just aren't practical) and it's leaving us already. I just hope I can score a used one in a few years. It's not so much the hatred of a severely outdated brick on wheels as exposing SMKs defense of said brick. Sorry, but if this were from GM or Ford, he would have a 180 degree opinion of this.Oh and all that is being done for $140K+ which is insane for an outdated brick, I don't care how advanced the four wheel drive is or what kind of history it is has. The only history I see is a brick with the same boxy design since 1972. Sorry, but it does nothing for me. But what else can do what it can do straight off of the show room floor? Range Rovers, Wranglers and there's about nothing in between. So for perspective buyers it's either a Rover or a G.After reading a bit prior to posting it appears the Land Cruiser can also handle its own off the beaten path. Not liking it's style is one thing, that's fine. Even though I find it ironic that people say X is bland and Y and bland and then there's something with some actual character and people dislike that too. It's a lose-lose. Bringing up the Land Cruiser brings up an even better point. It can do everything the G Wagon can do, on or off road, and can be had for less than half the price and it also has a V8.Sorry but the G Wagon is one of the biggest examples of bilking clueless sheep buyers when you consider the much better options out there for far less dough. That's relying on your past instead of moving into the future, especially when considering the make involved. The only other options in the luxury 4X4 world are the Land Cruiser and Range Rover though, right? They've updated the interior and driveline multiple times so it isn't like they are completely leaving it stagnant. just the exterior. The next most stagnant exterior out of any vehicle on the road is the Wrangler and people eat that up as well. People just love the unconventional-ness of the G(and Wrangler)

  7. FRISKY!! Seems like I haven't seen much from you for awhile. Back at a GM dealership, eh? Mind if I ask which one?
  8. http://www.carscoops.com/2016/05/new-2017-mercedes-benz-g350d.html http://blog.caranddriver.com/back-to-basics-mercedes-benz-g-wagen-professional-returns/ They make exactly what you guys want! 89k price tag, lesser and more fuel efficient engines! Lifted just a tad with 16 inch wheels. This is a working man's G Glass.. but ya know..still 89k.
  9. YES! Thank you, Olds! Exactly what I was thinking of. ..and it's just a one year special(for Japan and Australia) and it's gone again.
  10. I hope they do keep them. They look gnarly..plus they already have them integrated in the mirrors anyway for the people who want their "touch-o-modern" on their G Wagen.
  11. That is why it sells. The more outdated it is, the better it sells. No they are not. They are only selling 3000 a year when they could be selling 9000 a year by just actually updating it while keeping the V8 you allege they love. And again, no one outside of the Sahara desert is taking one of those off road. Do you see the fault in your reasoning while you dog other makes for doing the same thing? Legit question, how many range rovers are sold each year because that's what I see it compared the most to because they're both luxury great off roaders who've never lost their off road touch.

  13. I don't blame the vandals.. I mean taking up 2 spots is one way of being an asshole but essentially taking up 5 spots? Fck that person. And for what? A C class? Anybody can get a loan for a C Class if they really want one. Where I'm from, they would have found four cars parked around all four sides of that Benz. Sorry but if you really cared about your car, you wouldn't park like an elitist asshole. Probably here as well, and I've always wanted to be one of those who parks right next to said asshole driver but I've just been more concerned about my own car than ruining that person's day FYI, just to be clear. I don't condone taking up 2 spaces but that's way less of a douche move than this prick in his C Class Mercedes taking up basically 5.
  14. Read my posts; I'm not saying pitch to those buyers, but the buyers they turn away because : 13 MPG. And G Wagens aren't rotting on lots either so they likely don't care about the minuscule handful of people walking away from a 13mpg G Wagen because if mpg is of a concern at a Mercedes dealership then they can walk over to the GLE and magically its everything modern that you said you want out of an updated vehicle... AMGs, hybrids, diesels, gassers and mpgs to your liking. I could see offering a diesel G Wagen but it would have to be something awesome like a 6.7 Cummins or 6.7 PowerStroke making something bonkers like 850+ lb-ft of tq.
  15. People don't want it to change though. Somebody who wants a changed G basically want an ML/GLE. So go buy one of those... If you want something that's different, unique, doesn't give a crap about mpg and a soft, cushy ride but it would put it to a wrangler on the trails (OEM vs OEM) all while wrapped in leather with heated seats... you buy a G. Yeah yeah yeah probably one tenth of 1% even brush the grass along their driveway let alone see a track but that doesn't mean it isn't made for it and can do it. They're off road monsters if you don't get the 20+ inch wheels.
  16. Mercedes already has their cheapo cars for volume. They clearly don't want a large volume out of their hand built G. People splurging 120k on a brick could care less about 13mpg or 16mpg. If you want something softer just go to the other end of Mercedes' showroom and they'll sell you a GLE or GLS that fits exactly what you're asking for out of the G.
  17. The cost to engineer and update the S waaaaaaaya out due the G Wagen though. It has to be 10 times if not more than the G. S Class has WORLD leading technology inside and out and the G is basically the same thing that came over here but with new engines and transmissions with fancy leather and infotainment. I can't imagine the difference in development cost of a 2016 S Class vs a 2016 G Wagen.
  18. Sales flop? They sell every one they produce and at that they START at 120k. I don't remember the ratio but it's something insane like well over half of G Wagens produced are AMGs and those start at 140k. Yeah they aren't selling a ton but they are as old school as a vehicle gets as not much has changed in all of the years being for sale here. They've changed engines and transmissions and that's basically it.. All of the bones and chassis are the same. They're making a $h! ton of money of the G Wagen with only a few thousand a year selling.
  19. I don't blame the vandals.. I mean taking up 2 spots is one way of being an asshole but essentially taking up 5 spots? Fck that person. And for what? A C class? Anybody can get a loan for a C Class if they really want one.
  20. lol they have "black boxes" that PROVE it is the customers' fault! Why in the world would you take the blame when you have proof it was the customers' fault?!?! Customers try and throw you under the bus for their negligence? FCK THAT. They let the world know it was the idiot customers' fault, and not theirs.
  21. Where does it say they must be in production NOW to race? Regardless the there are restrictions on what can and cannot be changed from the production car so it shouldn't matter if the car is on sale now or 5 months from now..it will be the same car per the rules. I'm not sure how much you've followed the series but the first few races this season they talked about all of the teams sandbagging because of BOP adjustments for Le Mans. And everybody "saving their best stuff".
  22. Your body is progressing!! Good work!! Taller look could be attributed to a thinner look from weight loss and hair cut. Legs sound like they're getting in shape Chest and stomach also sound like they're gaining muscle and progressing! GREAT WORK SUAV! Keep it up and you'll continue to see progress.
  23. Hahaha great freaking eye with that one! +111111111
  24. To smk for the "classy comment", No Lincoln does not make "drivers' cars". But make cars people like to be behind the wheel in but not a "drivers car", Like the MB lineup hold the AMGs. Not many automakers still make true drivers cars. Miatas, pony cars, BRZ/FR-S, most of the Porsche lineup(excluding the SUVs), GTI, Golf R, 4C, etc... There are a handful but each automaker typically only has one, maybe two. Oh, I'd even throw in the Wrangler.
