Thanks! Deinitely worth giving it a shot if you're on vacation or somewhere where you don't have access to your vehicle...or just feel like going out and having one, two, or 15 beers. It's amazingly convenient, if you ask me. I actually wish I lived in a town where I could be a driver and make a little side cash by driving for a few hours a week.

So this past weekend I finally got to experience the whole "Uber" thing and to put it simply, it's awesome. The gf and I met at a friends apartment in STL(Soulard area for anybody who may have been this way before or Frisky because he is in the area) and then we all needed to get to where we were meeting more friends to eat. Simply put, the parking is atrocious where we were heading or it would be fairly easy if you were willing to walk a mile.. no thanks. Our friends who live in the area go to bars and Uber all of the time so they're used to it. It's actually crazy how simple it is. Step 1: Open app Step 2: Choose destination(and pickup but it has a map and a little dot where you are and you just select "select pickup location" and that's automatically the address you're at) Step 3: Wait a couple minutes for the pickup(in our case he was less than a minute away - literally. He was out front before we had time to walk out front) Step 4: Get dropped off. Both trips to and from where we went the drivers were nice, talkative, and laid back. We talked to them as to not make it awkward but I BS'd with the second drive on just how the heck it works from his end. He said you can literally be a driver any time you want or don't want to. He said he just turns on his app when he wants to drive and waits for a request and whenever he feels like not driving he just turns it off. No mandatory hours or time or anything. ONLY when he wants to drive. He said he makes 80% of the commission but he thinks he's grandfathered in as he thinks the newest drivers are only 75%. Both drivers we had this was a second job for them literally just making extra money. The one guy was an English professor at a local college and the other guy had his own business with his brother setting up conferences or something. The second guy said it's just extra money that he's never touched in the 8 months he's been driving. I thought that was a GREAT idea. Drive a handful of random hours a week, save a few bucks, and either save it for retirement or something like that. The college professor as just gotten back from a 9 day trip in Europe and wanted to recoup what he just spend lol. Both were Kias also... a Soul and an Optima. For what that's worth. I'm sure I missed something but here is what the transaction looks like on my phone. I also thought that was really cool and you can rate your driver. Oh, also, because this was my first trip they gave me $15 worth of free ride. That is why I wasn't charged anything. Also, because everything is like this (the pic) there is no awkward tipping scenario. It's just what you're charged and nothing more. Super simple and quite frankly, awesome. I believe there are different size "ubers" that would be like a 5 or 8 seaters that cost more but we didn't need one so I don't exactly know about the process of selecting a larger vehicle.

Ya know... I'm kind of surprised nobody other than Tesla's X has tried to be the first to an electric CUV. Even if it was just a small Trax/HR-V/CX-3 or something. Just to say they have the only/first(pre Tesla's X) EV SUV.

lol that's essentially how I went about it.. But I kept the van. It's a gnarly van...what can I say... So what would you buy with the 120k?

Not a bad workout. I do not see specific details of the types of exercises to perform, but I will say that this is a good 90 day jump start your body to make a difference. I did not have the time to view the videos, but I like the type of work outs stated and down time to let the body recover. Good Job. Did you take a before photo for day 1 and then at any other time to help track progress? Visual is always good to have to make sure you are making a difference that you wanted. you can click on any of the days of there is a drop down menu that shoes the days and click one. After like the 4th week it gets brutal as F. Pyramids... 30-25-20-15-10-5-5-10-15-20-25-30 for a lot of the stuff. The first handful of weeks were 5 days a week and once it got to the pyramids it dropped down to 4 days a week but all of the off days are "active rest" which I'm hit or miss on the active part. i guess that would be the one part I mess up the most. No... I should have but I feel way better about how I look. I've always worked out so I didn't expect anything crazy drastic but I did cut 18lbs and I feel a little bigger and definitely more cut. I really messed up by not taking a before picture.. -
So with my gnarly A-Team van I'm just going off a base G550's price of 120k and guessing the van will run 20k..? sounds "close enough" A-Team Van Camaro ZL1 (who cares if I can't see out of it??? It'll be Bad. Ass.) 60k ? Hmmm.. 40k for a daily or a daily and another toy... I think I'd drive a new F150 every day. I found one for under 40k, black, lariat FX4. I'm not a fan of the stripes at all but it has the grill and wheels I want along with being black leather and a Super crew aaaaaaand the fact that it would match the van and ZL1 by being black and red is kind of a must so this would be my daily and it could tow the ZL1 to any track if I choose to not drive it there myself. http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?endYear=2017&zip=62249&listingType=used&listingTypes=used&maxPrice=40000&showcaseListingId=429730519&trim1=F150PICKUP%7CFX4&mmt=%5BFORD%5BF150PICKUP%5BF150PICKUP%257CFX4%5EF150PICKUP%257CKing%2BRanch%5EF150PICKUP%257CLariat%5EF150PICKUP%257CLariat%2BLimited%5EF150PICKUP%257CLightning%5EF150PICKUP%257CLimited%5EF150PICKUP%257CPlatinum%5D%5D%5B%5D%5D&vehicleStyleCodes=AWD4WD&modelCode1=F150PICKUP&showcaseOwnerId=3251723&startYear=2015&makeCode1=FORD&firstRecord=50&searchRadius=0&listingId=428749110&Log=0

I figured I might as well considering I can't pocket or invest the money.. heck the watch is the only thing that wouldn't depreciate insanely fast. Hold on to it long enough(buying it used) and it could go up in value as metals go up in value.

I bet it all has to do with which states test emissions to begin with. My local city doesn't test and most of the suburban around me doesn't either but MO does. I would assume Chicago's Cook county would test but I'm not sure. I would assume states that don't test at all would get waaaaay less than states super strict like Cali.

The Evoque has a lot of off road goodies doesn't it? Like multiple terrain management, raise and lower suspension accordingly, those fancy front cameras to look around obstacles as you're creeping around them? I also thought the VW / Audi / Porsche had those same features, adjustable suspension, camera, various crawl modes, etc. They very well might.. I honestly don't know.

I might just have to do another series of cars I'd take with my A-Team van... hmmmm..

Illinois could use that money.. we're broke as F. Haven't had a budget for 2 years.. I won't go any further as it gets political and crap.

Hey dfelt, What do you think about this workout? http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/kris-gethins-12-week-muscle-building-trainer.html I've done the first 9 weeks, I believe. And I've done be best not skipping anything listed or days in general. Edit: Yesterday was Day 71. -
Yes we can but you know there is a big difference between first year and five year depreciation and it doesn't take away from my sheep remark given the evidence I presented. Depreciation % makes a buyer a sheep? GMC Yukon is on the top ten list of 5 year depreciation %, Chevy Impala, CTS, MKS are all on two of the top 10 depreciation lists I saw.. I don't think any Lincoln buyer is a following some trend obliviously. That's a lot of sheep out there then.

You don't have to exploit the full potential of 0-60 to appreciate the quicker vehicle. Depreciation does not make one vehicle better or worse than the other, hence S Class. It's also funny that I found an article stating the G Class is in the top 10 lowest depreciation in the first year of ownership. http://www.autoblog.com/photos/cars-that-depreciate-the-slowest/#slide-3339824 Regardless of opinion the G Wagen sells very well for what it is. That's why the average transaction price was only $1100 under MSRP. People love it. People pay for it. We can agree to disagree.

So why ever buy any BMW/MB over a Corvette, Mustang, Fusion, Impala, Edge,? "dynamics" don't make a car "better". They have less room, less efficient, if one metric is better..like lateral grip.. does that make it better and worth buying over an Impala or Camry? "Better" is an relative term. Better for you is different than better for me. What SUVs do what the G does and does it better? There are only a few SUVs that even compete in the category the G does. Range Rover, Wrangler, Land Cruiser and they are all over the place in comparison to each other. Nobody looking for a Mercedes is thinking of a Jeep or Toyota. Heck those two are slow as balls in comparison to a G550. Maybe the customer wants a Land Cruiser but they want some balls under the hood. If you are buying an luxury SUV for its "balls", then you are buying the wrong type of vehicle. I stand by my assertion, even though I do see what you're getting at but you cannot deny the sheep mentality towards something like that when there are better options. A Land Cruiser has plenty of power and has a far better rep off road and it is unsurpassed in the reliability and high resale department. The drop off on the G wagon after just a few years is insane. Why does it have to be the wrong type of vehicle? Why can't a vehicle run a mid-low 14's in the 1/4(g550) and still be able to rock crawl with a Wrangler off the showroom floor? Sheep will flock to ANYTHING that is rare/exotic with a label to it though. Hell, people are going to buy those nasty GLC Coupes, GLE Coupes, X4's, X6's... I bet A LOT of it is because the brand. But the G Wagen actually has some very impressive capabilities both in straight line performance and off the beaten path. Toyota HANDS DOWN has a great rep for reliability but this Land Cruiser is an 8 seater.. That's a big-ass SUV compared to a G Wagen. Hard to even compare them other than their off-road worthiness. I'm not sure what the resale will be on an 85k Toyota but it'll likely be dog$h! a long with anything else in this price range and up. G Wagens don't have a terrible resale considering. Alright, I randomly KBB'd a 2005 G500 and Land Cruiser @150,000 miles and the only option box I checked was the color and I made them both black. Both to private parties and both "good" condition(middle choise) Land Cruiser: $12,702 G500: $23,283 Same thing for 2010 but 100,000 miles instead. Land Cruiser: $31,746 G550: $44,723 Seems like they both keep roughly the same % away from each other as they depreciate.
