The Cars.com 2020 American-Made Index: Which Cars Are Most American?

It is a shame to see the best selling vehicles in the US(F150, Silverado, RAM 1500) not being on this list. GM and Ford are strangleholded(is that a word..?) by their got damn unions. They need to get rid of them. -
@dfelt, remember a few months ago when I told you about somebody I knew with a new Aviator and how well they liked it and they hadn't had any major issues..? Well things have since changed. He still loves the vehicle when it's being normal but he's having a major safety issue where when he goes from R -> D it will just idle away on its own. The brake pedal pushes but does absolutely nothing. He's posted a video and it's just idling about 5mph with him pumping the brake pedal and NOTHING. Very luckily, it has never happened around other people in a parking lot or anything but he said the worst time it did it was his driveway and it went ~150ft down his driveway before he could stop. He's taken it in now 3 times for this. The first time they couldn't replicate the issue and gave it back. The second time they re-flashed something or replaced something, didn't fix it. It is currently in on the 3rd attempt as the technicians just don't know what to do. i can't blame them as it seems above their level of fixing. He's trying to get rid of it and have Lincoln buy it back because it's a major safety issue. He's also had a small drive-line vibration that's been fixed on that 2nd visit. He's been in a Nautilus loaner for 2 or so weeks now. He's been dealing with somebody above dealership level trying to get it bought back.

Why any company would use IL as a manufacturing state blows my mind. I have to believe they're getting bent over on taxes and other crap compared to...most other states. They also fckd this launch up with all sorts of vehicle issues... -
interesting, i never thought about the county number for any state. IL apparently has 102. Oh maaaaaan... I LOVE garlic! We put garlic on most things whether its the powder or chopped cloves.

They also drive Lincoln MKC's... hahaha Okay, maybe not the "rich" part but the rest still fits. -

Hahaha I'm a hairy fella.. I was born in 1988 so I'm definitely in the millennial category(although the stereotype seems to be half a generation younger than me). I am certainly not a hipster. I don't wear skinny jeans, fedoras, beard wax...

Haha just working from home and with remoting in everything was so slow I didn't really have much chance to get on here.

Hello gents, Hows this place been the last few months? Anything new? Anybody buy something new?

The explorer has been extremely disappointing everywhere outside of its drivetrain.. That's about all it has going for it and even then the 2.3 is a little small for a 3-rower. What a botch by Ford.

If I had the coin and was in the market for a large, luxury sedan, I would be crazy not to give this a legitimate opportunity. -

They. Don't. Look at an Explorer and Aviator. They do not share switchgear and the same goes for the Corsair/MKC and Escape, Nautilus and Edge, Navigator and Expedition. From what I've read the literal only things they share is window switches and that's something that doesn't matter if the two look the same as they're tucked in the doors. All of the Lincolns also have higher engine options save for maybe the Navigator if the Expedition gets the high output version of the 3.5 but I don't believe it does. 8 inches really isn't small as long as it is shaped and organized correctly. Mine is 8 inches and it doesn't seem small but it looks like there is more surface area than the 10 inch BMW because it's square and not rectangular. -

" Lincoln has created its own switchgear for the Continental (and eventually the rest of the Lincoln line) with knurled-metal control knobs on the steering wheel and A/C system, and unique turn-signal stalks. Just about the only Ford-style switchgear I could find in the cabin were the window switches on the doors, and the overhead storage binnacle mounted just forward of the optional panoramic moonroof. " "as well as a Lincoln-exclusive 3.0-liter engine making 400 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. " https://www.motortrend.com/cars/lincoln/continental/2017/2017-lincoln-continental-black-label-awd-first-drive-review/ Ford may have missed on the platform they chose to use but the car was the first real turning point for Lincoln and making them a truly luxury vehicle automaker again. -

I got my bike from my parents last week and have gone on a few bike rides this week to get out. I can't stand being stuck inside this much. I'm actually excited to get working on my lawn to do something outside and move around now that my gym has closed.

Dang, it isn't $1.39 here.. I filled up the lawnmower yesterday(after a little tuneup - Spark plugs, air filter, and the oil change will probably be this weekend) and regular was $2.04 still. I get the old girl premium though as last year it was sputtering under not-full-throttle. this lawn mower was a hand-me-down from my dad when I bought this building to renovate as he bought a new Husquvarna. I don't have the tools at home for everything(well, at the time) so I took it to have the blades sharpened and they told me they were on backwards, Hahaha. My dad had taken them off to sharpen and put them on backwards so they were just ripping the grass. It also needed something else in the blade system that the barings were shot so it was cutting really crooked. $150 later and it cut like it was brand new. It has to be 15 years old at this point and me changing the spark plugs was the first time they were ever changed. My dad had never done that... just changed the oil and sharpened the blades every year(and put them back no backwards at least once!). I cut the grass yesterday and it seemed to fix whatever sputter it had. The plugs didn't look good but one really didn't look terrible.

My Flex on a perfect sunny day (flaws and all)

Dang, that was probably a pretty expensive spare wheel purchase but definitely worth it if you ever need it. What tires did you put on it? -

Flexes have absolutely grown on me. When they first came out, I thought they were atrocious. I think they're really good looking vehicles now. I wish I could have found one optioned the way I would have wanted in my price range when I was shopping last year. Oh well.. What's the spare tire in the hatch doing? -
Honestly, I don't hate the cube life. I like to be organized and keep my things in certain places and it's a nice way to keep organized. Our building is being remodeled floor by floor and when it's finished there won't be tall cube walls anywhere so it'll won't be the super isolated life it is now. The walls won't even go over the monitors so they'll be super low. It'll be an interesting change and we had that when we were located on a different floor for about a year. I liked it because it was easy to ask or talk to a team member without getting up and walking around the walls. Yep. fluorescent lights and beige walls are two of the things going in the remodel. It'll be all modern in white, greys, and wood. It's a VERY refreshing look compared to your above picture which is basically what the old floors look like to the T.
