Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
ccap41 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
https://auto.howstuffworks.com/auto-parts/brakes/brake-types/regenerative-braking.htm "In a traditional braking system, brake pads produce friction with the brake rotors to slow or stop the vehicle. Additional friction is produced between the slowed wheels and the surface of the road. This friction is what turns the car's kinetic energy into heat. With regenerative brakes, on the other hand, the system that drives the vehicle does the majority of the braking. When the driver steps on the brake pedal of an electric or hybrid vehicle, these types of brakes put the vehicle's electric motor into reverse mode, causing it to run backwards, thus slowing the car's wheels. While running backwards, the motor also acts as an electric generator, producing electricity that's then fed into the vehicle's batteries. These types of brakes work better at certain speeds than at others. In fact, they're most effective in stop-and-go driving situations. However, hybrids and fully electric cars also have friction brakes, as a kind of back-up system in situations where regenerative braking simply won't supply enough stopping power. In these instances, it’s important for drivers to be aware of the fact that the brake pedal might respond differently to pressure. The pedal will sometimes depress farther towards the floor than it normally does and this sensation can cause momentary panic in drivers." -
Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM

I would only assume they are going by services that are supposed to be done via the service manuals. It's about the only apples to apples comparisons, using ICE manuals and EV manuals and recommended service intervals per the manufacturers. -
Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM

YES. With that added density, you could halve the weight of a current battery and still add range. This and the increased rate of charge are where the game changing points occur. -

Anecdotal isn't factual. Just because you don't do it 1: doesn't mean most don't and 2: it shouldn't be done. It probably accounts for vehicles requiring 89 and 91 octane, as well. -

It would be smart to partner for that, as well. That Rivian van/truck seems like the real deal and you'd only have to buy-in instead of a ground up build.. But, they sell a lot of them so maybe the costs to build your own would pay off. -

I've been saying it for awhile, but I think them(anybody, not just Ford) targeting performance and naturally efficiency with an EV will be key. "Everybody" has tried the whole small car EV thing and they don't do too well. I believe making a fun and capable EV will make them much more desirable. 7/5 is a fraction as well so it could be more by just saying "fraction" but people don't commonly think of 'greater than 100%' when saying "fraction". Buuuut, looking at the dictionary definition, it has to be less than 1. -
2020 Geneva Motor Show Is Cancelled: Comments

Is ANY personal automobile's interior REALLY up to a 200k price tag? There are beautiful interiors but nothing really says 200-500k. Maybe it's because that price range is so far away from be that I just cannot understand that price category. -
How often do you change your oil?

I'm just about to hit 50k in a few weeks, as well. That also means oil change time for me. -

I mean... You've admitted they aren't hitting 100%. -

Chevrolet SPEED -- The Corvette C8's little MR sibling
ccap41 replied to dwightlooi's topic in Chevrolet
Yeah, I know. But, they'll both be sitting next to each other and likely test drove together and one will be a brand new sports car that you can see out of and the other would theoretically be 10 years old with no outward vision. Right now, the Camaro isn't stealing from the Challenger or Mustang either. -

Could you imagine what the Camaro sales would drop to if Chevrolet made another 30-50k sports car? -
Oh no, I've read them. SuperCruise and a superior sound system. Oh and you get a mini-fridge. https://www.motortrend.com/news/2021-cadillac-escalade-vs-gmc-yukon-denali-chevy-tahoe-high-country-differences-comparison/ " What Does The Escalade Have The Yukon/Tahoe Don't? Only 2021 Cadillac Escalade buyers can opt for an onboard refrigerator-freezer or night vision. And 2021 GMC Yukon/XL Denali buyers are the only ones who can purchase a power-sliding center console. Motoring said console aft 10 inches (via an unmarked button on the center roof console) opens up a space to store a purse or parcel, moves the cupholders on the rear of said console closer to occupants of the rear captain's chairs (the option isn't offered with a middle-row bench seat), and exposes a drawer in the bottom of the console in which to store valuables. When the console's motored forward and the key is away from the vehicle, it would take a lot of vicious crowbarring to access what's in that drawer. " It's basically the definition of putting lipstick on a pig. I'm not saying the end product is bad in any way. It's just also a vehicle for people who love status symbols...because the Denali exists.

But, there's just a styling difference between an Escalade and a Denali. You're paying a premium for the badge the same way one would for a GLA. The one distinctive thing you get in an Escalade over the Denali is SuperCruise.

Couldn't the same be said for Escalade buyers when there's a Yukon Denali?

Haven't they already done this with the XT4, XT5, and XT6? Aren't those rebadged versions of Chevy, GMC, and/or Buick? Oh, and Escalade.

Chevrolet SPEED -- The Corvette C8's little MR sibling
ccap41 replied to dwightlooi's topic in Chevrolet
I like it but they better be ready to say "bye-bye" to the Camaro if they went this route. It's an interesting idea but is it financially feasible at 30k to make a mid-engine sports car? I would almost assume there would be a lesser powerful base engine and their 2.0T would suffice for the weight. It would be amazing if they'd do a manual transmission(even if it were an UP charge) because this would be in Miata territory and driver engagement would be front and center, I'd assume. -
Well, they're far from hitting each segment as hard as possible so they might as well try and get into more segments.

How are you concluding a 7.2% death rate? I completely agree with your latter part that if millions are infected that there simply will not be enough room for everybody.

Is that just China or global? It's actually kindof tough to find good information on it as every news outlet is spitting information out and some are thorough and some are not.
