Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
ccap41 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
I'm actually surprised I've seen a Model Y in the wild then. -
I can't blame the all black interior veto. I'm over them myself.
-
Dang, I dig the look of the CTS's. I don't blame him for wanting to stick to an SUV though.. I'm not too old yet and still just like the ease of entry and exit of a smaller SUV(basically anything that isn't BOF-large) over a car.

Seeming how it was canceled, what vehicle did he nix?

Oh I agree. I was just saying the required solar panels is a great start but, like you said, how can 15 years' worth of new homes be able to support everybody? they do need a massive overhaul to do what they're claiming. -
The one and only gripe i have with the Gladiator Rubicon and Colorado ZR2 is they don't offer any more power/torque in those trims. They make these badass, off-road capable trucks but they're actually the slowest trims because big wheels, tires, lifts, and(assuming) weigh the most with heavy duty off-road equipment. I think that's one reason I LOVE the Raptor is because it's got its off-road goodies but it's also the quickest F150 you can buy. Okay, the last part was true until like 2019 when they stuck the High Output 3.5 in the Limited F150's as well. I don't need or expect a rocket ship but something that's pretty quick also. Per MT, they tested a 2018 Canyon Denali 4X4 with the new 3.6 and 8spd at 6.8 seconds to 60mph and 15.2 second @ 90mph quarter mile. Per MT, they tested a 2018 Colorado ZR2 with the new 3.6 and 8spd at 7.2 seconds to 60mph and 15.5 second @93mph quarter mile. Cut a half second off the ZR2's time(1/4 mile) and it's properly done, imo. That's pretty crappy. Is there a chance you could demand a new door skin? Used ones are dropping to around 30k! I think a diesel one would be BAD-ASS(even though they're slower than dogsh!t).

FWIW, every new home built in California requires solar panels. It started this year. It's a great start, at least. -
Little do you know, I run strictly off of solar energy.
-
What would you do if they gave you a Spark EV..?!?! ?
-
Still way less than you per mile driven...

It's annoying living in IL with local fuel prices(87 octane) at $2.24/gallon and I can cross the river to Missouri and the last I saw last week was $1.79/gallon. I ride the bus to work though so I never take advantage of the much lower fuel prices... they just taunt me.

So as of 2014 these calls were only 15.3% of calls. 3,348,000 total calls and 513,000 were fuel related.. I don't think anybody thinks that rate is really "high". -

What's the rate of AAA calls for fuel? -

My guess would probably be 2 model years after the Hummer, maybe like 18 months or so. So, maybe the same year or the following year as the F150. -

I guess I completely forgot about the profile reveal and that there is a bed to it. Yeah, it sounds roughly 14-18 months ahead of Ford's. I don't know about you but I have a feeling the Hummer will be a pretty decent step up in pricing than the F150, but that's just guessing. I don't believe Ford ever said the all electric would be on sale Summer 2021. That's probably their hybrid you're thinking of. "All a Ford spokesperson would tell Car and Driver is that the all-electric F-150 will arrive "in a few years" and that we will have to keep waiting for an announcement about specific timing." https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a28947992/electric-ford-f-150-2021-planned/ -

"late 2022" for the cybertruck is the same exact quarter as the F150. Rivian is the only one to have an edge in getting things out early and it sounds like it'll be roughly 18 months before Tesla or Ford have theirs in production. GM? What EV truck do they have? I hope you're not comparing trucks to the Hummer SUV..? If that's the case, GM is behind all of them as Ford already has the MachE, obviously Tesla has the X and Y already out, and Rivian's SUV seems to be on the heels of their truck. -

Did you forget about the Electric F-150? https://www.motortrend.com/news/2022-ford-f-150-electric-everything-we-know/ -
The only thing not mentioned was paint so I doubt that was considered as a combination.
-
I certainly don't hate it as much as I probably "should".
-
Then why did you question it? It's pretty simple to figure out what a combination is. FWD, Engine A, Cloth, No Sync, Option 1 FWD, Engine A, Cloth, No Sync, Option 2 FWD, Engine A, Cloth, No Sync, Option 3 FWD, Engine A, Cloth, No Sync, Option 4 FWD, Engine A, Cloth, No Sync, Option 5 FWD, Engine A, Cloth, No Sync, Option 6 FWD, Engine A, Cloth, No Sync, Option 7 FWD, Engine A, Cloth, No Sync, Option 8 FWD, Engine A, Cloth, No Sync, Option 9 FWD, Engine A, Cloth, No Sync, Option 10 FWD, Engine A, Cloth, No Sync, Option 1 & 2 FWD, Engine A, Cloth, No Sync, Option 1 & 3 Etc.
-
That's JUST for the "SE". Add in the other trims and their respective configurations and you get 2000. Do the math for just the SE configurations and see what you come up with...
-
debatable, example...https://www.autoblog.com/2018/03/21/2019-ford-fusion-complexity-build-combinations/

I'd say it's a "mainstream/non-luxury" thing. The only brands that truly have ala carte optioning are the Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche, etc. of the world. American trucks get kind of close with it but definitely not like the above luxury brands.
-
That body style has grown a lot on me. I LOVE it in certain trims and that's one of them.
