  1. Let me put it this way. They don't allow for price gouging of gas (even when supplies are way below demand) so why in the hell is it allowed on the cars that run on them and cost exponentially more money? It is beyond ridiculous IMO. Again, I get the buyers choice argument but that does not change my core argument of dealerships being dirty bastards for dong it in the first place and they will find their way out the door with potential buyers if they keep pulling these tactics. The writing has been on the wall for that to happen for years. Not at more than double the suggested price and if they did, they wouldn't be in business for very long.
  2. Feel free to call it that if you want instead of calling a spade a spade (basic bull$h! greed). And there is a BIG difference between $5K to $10K dealer markups (still a joke in my opinion) and asking DOUBLE the MSRP. Thats not even close to an apples to apples comparison Balth and you know it.
  3. Meanwhile, literally up the road from my house (and thirty minutes from Raleigh), the exact same model, also with 300 miles. But yeah, keep pretending the other dealership is just going by the market and not just being greedy assholes. Edit: I just noticed that the Burlington ad is using the EXACT same pics as the Raleigh ad. No, nothing dirty going on here.
  4. I did not follow up. It was a dealership near my work and this was about three months ago when I noticed the last price drop at $100K. Point is that they realized that they were being greedy and no one was going to pay $45K over markup for base model Vette. The dealership has always been shady as hell anyway. It is no longer on the lot, is all I know.
  5. Here's the thing. Most places never move cars like at those outrageous prices. It's just a common tactic used by way too many dealers to just "test the waters" on inflated prices based on perceived (or even real) hype. As I pointed out with he Vette example, most of the time they never sell for the original inflated price. All it does, in the long run, is tarnish an already horrible image of car dealerships and its high time they pull their heads out their collective a**** and stop trying to rip off people at every turn. Much more of it and Tesla won't be the only dealership free make out there. Just my opinion. And lol on the GNX but price aside, that is one cherry looking ride! Then you are complicit in $h!ty behavior. I have worked at several dealerships that pulled this crap and there is no real defending this type of nonsense and all it does stain the reputation of said dealership as well as the brand in question. That particular dealership I brought up has done this before and caught hell for it while they tout "taking care" of their customers. Sorry, I know how you feel about them, but dealerships are the dinosaurs of today and the sooner they die off (or at least change these deceptive pricing schemes) the better.
  6. I get the right to sell it and I get the loophole their using. I’m not debating that. My point is that too many dealerships are dirty dealing scumbags with these kind of tactics. They will never move that Bronco for $100K though, not even in high dollar Raleigh. Sidenote, he is technically false advertising the sale. That Bronco is not “brand new” if it has 300 miles on it. The general rule of thumb is under 200 miles can be still considered “new”. Again, dealership and greed going hand in hand. I saw a similar dealership do this with the C8 with a $121K sticker only to see it see on the lot for five months and eventually dropped down to $100K. Karma is a indeed a bitch.
  7. Saw this just now on Facebook and it proves why I cannot stand dealerships and wish they all would take a damn hike. The guy who posted this is literally a salesman for Capital Ford in Raleigh (near me). For $100K, that better come with about ten kilos of the devils dandruff is all I’m going to say.
  8. First of all, good luck find ANY Prius for under $30K much less $24K. Second, the 4 Runner routinely sells for around $50K so that’s not really not that far of a swing for folks looking to make the jump.
  9. A few still trim out but they are few in numbers, for sure. However, those "nothing nice" sell in enough numbers for them to keep on selling them. That work truck market is where those go or for the home depot/U-Haul truck rental crowd. Nothing fancy because enface isn't needed for those. It's a bigger market than some folks realize and that is where Toyota has always missed out where the Tundra is concerned. They are still sold at profit, much how Mercedes fleet sells fair chunk of their E-Class rides to taxi companies all over Europe.
  10. Then that goes against every generation before them, making even less sense. Again, while ti doesn't seem like much, the D3 move enough regular cabs to justify their continued production. The fact Toyota won't even try, from the start, is very telling. I doubt there will be a regular cab with this generation at any point. And Toyota does like fleet sales. They have an entire page deviated to all of their fleet models. https://www.toyota.com/fleet/
  11. The platform is where they went right. Say what you want about everything else that is “wrong” with the Tundra, using ANY platform from a Land Cruiser is good thing. It might give them a little edge in the off road game if they better utilized the TRD moniker. Worldwide off road cred there, is all I’m saying.
  12. Seeing as how you like to bring up Toyota domination with the Tacoma, it should be noted that they have always had a regular cab model for it. It makes no sense to exclude the Tundra unless it’s because of their refusal to expand into the work truck market.
  13. No. They ignored the commercial market, where most regular can sales take place. Just saying that they offer no more options as a pick up than they did in 2007 (their last major redesign). They actually have one less engine than they offered in 2007 and one less cab as well (they did sell a regular cab model until the last refresh in 2014). Again, nice update for them but no real inroads made here. Just a fact.
  14. Sorry if my wording is confusing but basically both of those configurations have been available since 2007. There is no regular cab. This is no base V6 model (work truck models common with the D3). Also, no heavy duty models. While the 2022 is a nice step for them, it changes nothing regarding its place in the pick up world.
  15. They have six interior configurations, which is a plus. They have two cabs, two beds, and two engines, same as before though which is where they will continue to fall short when it comes to sales.
  16. And mark my words. Someone, somewhere, is going to at least TRY that and it'll likely start somewhere in NC lol. We do have a history of playing around with different fuels for our cars. In this case though, the lack of frequency doesn't take away the dangerous nature of the job. Things change in an instant and I'm once is more than enough for most folks charged with those duties.
  17. Caught a glimpse of this across from my shop today. Something about that baby metallic blue color just belongs on just about ANYthing Cadillac. Not sure on the year but I'm guessing a 67-68 year model. I'm sure @balthazar knows better than I do on this one. Regardless of the year though, just a super sharp ride. And in either situation, starting at $45K for THAT job is not enough when DC median income (on either scale) is 30% HIGHER than national average. I am honestly baffled that this has to be explained. The amount of money made is relatively to the overall cost of living where you live. $45K will go a lot further in the middle nowhere Kansas but not so much anywhere in or even around the beltway. It's not even close honestly. Those guys should be making considerably more given the nature of the job alone, screw where they live. That's my end point here.
  18. On a lighter note, yes please…
  19. And that is BELOW the median household income of DC, where almost all of those agents work. Not exactly top pay scale work in the beltway area. Just skip the part where an agents pay is not equal to the level of danger they potentially face everyday. Again, by the time those vehicles are actually replaced, they will be more than a decade old.
  20. All of this!! Yes it is and I think you know the answer to that. Hell yes, it'll be hot but at least there you can legally have an "Arizona" tint on your car to mitigate some of that heat. You also know that some folks don't seem to care there either. My cousin had a loaded BLACK Tahoe with a BLACK leather interior that hardly ever spent time in her garage. Some folks are just nuts there lol, us my point. That interior will not stop most potential buyers there.
  21. The Rivian definitely intrigues me if I ever get in the market for a pick up.
  22. And? It’s a luxury EV. Besides the $81K model is going to have just over 400 miles of range. That’s 100 less than the top of the line Lucid but for half the price.
  23. It should be noted that is a base model package and the 11 inch system is still an option.
  24. You need to because I still see Crown Vics rolling around here lol. Furthermore, they are only producing 1800 of these over the course of nine years. Most of the current ones are at least a decade old with probably a ton of miles on them. See my above response. Also, again, this over the course of nine years so obviously the first 200, in the first year, are going replace the oldest models and not the four year old models. By the time year nine rolls around, those four year models are now thirteen years old with a ton of miles and wear and tear. This is a common sense move, believe it or not. Is it wasteful? On some level, sure, but that doesn’t mean that they won’t need to be replaced. These are specific use vehicles and a lot of work go into them.
  25. Or it's because the fleet was in immediate need of updating and since there are not going be any EV equivalents for at least a few more years (at best), it made more sense to go with what was already available. Just common sense to me and has not one thing to do with "sound bites". The next round will be all EVs, once the next batch of SUVs are worn out.
