  1. Almost 8 billion people on this planet and you think nuclear power is the best option, like somehow we won’t use up all the usable land at some point and start looking at that previously unused land (like we’ve done too many times in the past) when we realize we screwed that up too because some alleged “smart” folks thought it was a good idea to just dump some nuclear waste here? You are a special one there Dwight. That’s all I will say about it at this point. That’s big talk about reliability coming from an Audi owner.
  2. No. You are definitely high to think there is some grand conspiracy amongst scientists because that’s all we ever hear about, those super rich and corrupted scientists LOL. Oh wait. And the nuclear/pyramid comparison is just, well, dumb because it makes zero sense in the grand context of what’s being talked about here. Save the tinfoil act for your nationalist buddies on Facebook. Again, just dumb “logic” on every level but again, I’m not even surprised at this point.
  3. Must be why 99% of the folks who ACTUALLY study and have degrees in such fields, say the exact opposite of what alleged engineers say.. Are you high? Seriously. (Hand raised all the way up in the back of the classroom) OOOOH! OOOOOH! I KNOW!!!
  4. I'm just saying...
  5. Which they could have easily already done had they not stopped making the FJ Cruiser and improving upon it (like its horrible rear visibility). Could have even kept the name going and saved some pennies on new naming rights. "Market adjustment" is just a fancy term for "price gouging". Because everything in Australia wants to kill and/or eat you, that's why. Even the Koalas will give you that look if you're not careful.
  6. For such a know it all, you sure managed to be wrong about Texas power on just about every front. Their grid and alleged "smart" system was proven an absolutely joke just over a month ago and that's just for starters how utterly horrible their entire system was and and still is. And while you talk about not letting the government decide, you seem to have ZERO problem with letting the industry (in this case electric companies) run it for you, which (btw) includes controlling that SAME government you decry via lobbying and dirty politics. My dad (rest his soul) worked for Duke Energy for almost forty years and I could tell you some stories about the horrors that are the Texas Electrical grid and the folks who run it. It is laughable how off base you are and even more laughable that you bitch about Cali yet continue to live there. Not real smart if you ask me but hey, what do I know. In the end, trying to compare CA with TX, at this point, is like trying to compare a dog turd to a pig turd. Who cares? They're both s***.
  7. Well said. One look at his Facebook page will tell you all you need to know (even if you can only see his "public" stuff).
  8. Umm, it is exactly incompetence and lack of research.
  9. I just find it funny that the couples basic ignorance and refusal to do just a little research before acquiring a Taycan is not the bigger issue here. Yes, UKs infrastructure needs some work but to be fair, the country wasn’t exactly a bastion for liberal gas consumption (higher costs to fuel there than here for example). After searching through several articles regarding the couple and their car, it seems that they did buy it and understood that they could have charged it at home yet didn’t. Now their blatant ignoring of such a things leads to a nice fodder article for the non-convinced folks but it is pure fodder knowing these simple facts. The slant here is pretty obvious.
  10. And that illustrates the problem with the article in general as it doesn’t seem to bring that up at all if indeed that is the case. The whole thing is sensationalized as it stands so I’m just taking that with a grain of salt while wondering why certain facts were omitted from the article.
  11. The article mentions but pretty much sidesteps the fact that the owners were quite ignorant from start to finish here. It was not just about busted or non-working charging stations. Hell, the gas station nearest to my old place just outside of Greensboro has problem/non-functioning pumps every other week. These Taycan owners merely needed to charge their car overnight, before their 45 minute drive, and they would have covered that trip from start to finish with charge to spare.
  12. Wasn't really speaking to your brand loyalty but to Blu since he made the statement that somehow brand loyalty matters (it really doesn't) while never seeming to practice said brand loyalty. And, as it has been pointed out, homogenization has been going down for over half a century now. EVs and their related platforms do not make this practice worse, merely a continuation of long played out event in the industry. It really isn't that big of a deal, honestly, in IMO if it means a good and reliable product for buyers (for starters anyway).
  13. Oh for the Pete’s sake David, we have to know! What’s the bed length? Isn’t that what’s most important here??
  14. And you’re both wrong in that regard but hey, if you need that kind of validation, C&G is here to help LOL. And at least Balth presents more rationale and compelling arguments, even if I don’t personally agree with them. You, on the other hand...well...never mind. I just want to hear more about this “brand loyalty” you spoke of earlier.
  15. It was an MT article but after rereading it, you are correct and my dyslexia is kicking my butt today lol. Still seems a strange naming strategy to me but I get why they did it since the "Grand" part used to represent the higher trim models of Wagoneers past.
  16. Per the same article, the “grand” part of the Wagoneer will indicate the length. That’s my understanding of it but you are right that they may start it off that way. Seems a little silly to me if you’re going to have both wheelbases though. “Grand” would make much more sense for the bigger model IMO.
  17. From another article “Yes. Jeep plans to introduce a long-wheelbase Wagoneer to properly compete with its crosstown rivals' bigger siblings. And if the standard-length Wagoneer's size is anything to go by, then the long-wheelbase Jeep is sure to overshadow even the biggest of these big SUVs, the 226.9-inch-long Cadillac Escalade ESV.” And the “Series III” is their absolute top trim level.
  18. There will be the Wagoneer vs Tahoe/Expy and Grand Wagoneer vs Suburban/Expy XL
  19. Not really as it has already been pointed. You’re also assuming that would actually go to 3 dozen brands while there is zero chance of that actually happening. Also, diamond star motors shared platforms with AMC/Eagle, Chrysler, Dodge, Mitsubishi, and a slew of commercial rides. This is not really uncharted territory and again, it will not involve anywhere close to that many brands, as you are implying here. So they were homogenized.
  20. Yes but competing with both Tahoe/Expedition and Escalade/Navigator is not a good plan IMO. Jeep can go after the cheaper two but the luxury market is a whole ballgame and I cannot see anyone paying $105,995 for a Jeep anything. They may surprise me with that but I just don’t see it happening long term.
  21. Go home Jeep. You’re clearly drunk.
  22. As Olds pointed out, with examples, this homogenization has been going on for decades. What was the point of GM having a Cavalier, a Sunfire, and a Cimmaron? Additionally, this skateboard platform is no different than the platform sharing that has occurred among and between companies for decades as well. NASCAR is a poor example because is a sport and not something made for you and me so it has nothing to do with private ownership or consumer level homogenization. It merely provides entertainment and as such, they can make any rules they want. If we want to go there, then I should point out that NASCARs moves haven’t stopped drivers like Jimmy Johnson from dominating for years so it is still about the driver, which is how it should be.
  23. Yet it has been done for decades while certain folks folks think that EV mods are killing brand loyalty, which is a joke btw. That was part of my point to the disillusioned here. And come on @ocnblu, tell us more about that “brand loyalty” you clearly don’t follow yourself. Seems like your brand loyalty policy is right up with their with your “buy American” policies you have espoused for years here (and we all know how that has turned out). All of your down votes do not change the truth.
  24. Just a small example of how people modify their autos all damn time (not to mention illustrating how using an engine from one brand to put into the car of another brand isn’t a big deal) but you want to act like modifying something with an EV platform is somehow the line crossed. (It’s not, for the record). What is funny is you, once again, cherry picking one line while having no real response for the rest of the post because the truth can be a fickle little thing like that. Save your fake outrage about homogenization and brand loyalty for folks who don’t know your tired routine here.
  25. Let’s not forget the Plymouth Laser among those 1st gen models (had a ‘93 model as the first car that was in my name).
