  1. It was a new market, not proven to be lucrative over a long span, and it replaced not a technology but a means driven (heh) by the taming of a living creature. Your car isn't the same as your horse. And it was that changing of possibilities - that wild aspiration, I suppose which eventually drove (heh) the mad frenzy to capture a place to become a legend. The cars of themselves brought other changes. Where do I store my car? Certainly not with the horses! Perhaps where I park the carriage? What of that? It's of no use no more. The car has profound effects. The history of it all. I sometimes have a random thought.....what if we're the civilization being gazed upon from far away light years? Our existence, in many ways a parallel to the fantasies of beings far away, in our same state, perhaps sharing the same fate.
  2. RANDOM THOUGHT EXTENSION: That's it right there. The electric car is in many ways not the first automobile against a living, breathing horse. No, the electric car - was nearly driven to extinction, back when there were also 10s, if not hundreds of makers of those as well. The cars of today will be held to the standard of today. And in that level of scrutiny, there will be no respite. As old learn the new, and the new learn the ways of the old, shall we have the a vision of the future that we can savour.
  3. Someone was going to win the pole position. Every body had said before that the GT was fast car, and that was months ago. Seems to me if Chevy was sandbagging, then GM is worried about losing so bad they had to scratch for whatever advantage they could get BESIDES getting the pole.
  4. Blah blah blah blah
  5. I just want to squeeze it and make some limonade. Now...is that supposed to be like a micro-subcompact crossover? ZEE GOGGLES. THEYZ DO NATHING!!!
  6. It looks like as if the last gen Honda Pilot and some kind of Lincoln wing grille was slapped on the front, with the bi-secting part of the hood removed. It's just looking rather lame, even under camo. VW seriously needs to shake up their designs. Stale as ever on anything that isn't a comfort coupe, or European Passat or Golf GTi/Golf R. Now I know I said continuity may not be such a bad thing, but i don't there has been serious design evolution for some of their NA models like the Passat and Jetta. They look BORING.....like just boring - and it's like a universal opinion of those cars. Well boring does make them super roomy. But...
  7. No $h!, I saw 4 latest V Cadillac models today. The gray ATS-V...it's sexceptional. Holy mother of god. The blue ATS-V sedan I saw too.....hot blue taffy. Yum... And then 2 CTS-V's side to side. One red like Casa's but the silver wheels, no spoiler and a white one with the dark wheels and carbon fibre package. SHWEET.
  8. The Hactiv? The Shpark? Shpark Hactiv?
  9. Automakers are bench marking themselves like crazy nowadays. Don't expect competitive advantages to last too long. And don't expect it to be a blue chip to be the one to bring forward progress. And lastly, for the new tech firms - don't underestimate the virtues of distilled experience of being in the business.
  10. Volvo will start going much higher as soon as their new vehicles start to take off in Europe. I think folks in Europe are much less reluctant to consider brands like Volvo compared to stuff like Cadillac or Lexus. That's besides their ambitious goals from China.
  11. I still prefer the way the pre-refresh grille or the smaller V model looks. It looks much cleaner. The large ass frickin grille overpowers the front end and makes it look ungainly and kinda tall.
  12. It's a fascinating history. I can see it now.
  13. Interesting Story time!!! We need more story time whenever possible. Way better than commenting on cat video or Big 3 middle finger time.
  14. The real ticket will be a car that can be summoned from all the way accross the country? What about a car being summoned from like... Spain? Will it do all the importing paperwork for you, while your CC get's charged and then it arrives like a couple months later as it crosses the Atlantic. Real tight.
  15. I 100% disagree with your assertion that they don't need large cars. The need has been clearly illustrated. Just because you don't believe it doesn't make it so. Of course police departments need big vehicles. But a "green fleet" for lip service to show off a BMW? I'm talking about these vehicles - the EVs or hybrids. The ones NOT used for patrolling or highway policing or whatever that requires heavy use. This LAPD fleet is for PR purposes. Not real police use. There the BMW is a completely useless vehicle - might as well only be used for parking ticket operations.
  16. What works for Europe works for Europe. First of all, in Germany, any road rager or speed demon can do whatever they want to quench their need for speed on the autobahns. Also, many of the streets are really narrow, a lot of turnpikes and toll roads. And you can't even go a large distance without crossing some kind of border. It's very hard to have a traditional police chase, unless you're Bond and there's bad guys on your tail. And second of all.... SMK? The following is what is being debated over. Read carefully: We're not talking about what is a vehicle worthy for police use for police duty. The vehicles in question are meant for "community outreach and official police business." Sounds like cars for a bunch of lip service. There's no need for large vehicles with officers armed to the teeth. What there is a need though is for some good sense in the procurement/purchasing/supply decisions where there's already excellent vehicles available that are made in USA for a 'green fleet' for that purpose.
  17. keyboard navigation working?
  18. Interesting and highly amusing. Great story time!! We need more story time. MOAR.....
  19. Unless you're invading another country, there is no superiority about the kind of off-roading this Mercedes can do. Even then the Unimog is a MUCH better vehicle. And there is hardly any place on Earth where the correctly spec'd version of those 3 can't go. The only thing maybe a water fording... which still is a niche use, and most militaries now have the deployable bridges.
  20. Actually get a army surplus HMMVW1 or Ford Raptor or RAM Powerwagon or Jeep Wrangler. Much better alternatives, because they have brains and brawn tied to the prestige of ownership.
  21. They must shove their Mercedes **** into every hole, no matter how small and innocent.
  22. Biggest thing was "community outreach" and other "police duties" Presumably I guess that means having to get dirty and go in neighbourhoods that Police don't like to frequent. Which means showing up in Bimmers is not only lacking humility one would expect for officers/police to build rapport in those said communities and neighbourhoods - but the fact that it was a pudgy BMW makes them reek of sellout. Totally unpatriotic. Totally wasteful. Get some Brammo electric bikes. Or buy some made in USA bicycles. Or get a goddamn Cadillac ELR on clearance, if you really want splurge but be American and green, and have some class.
  23. Uhhh....Chevy...Chevy sedan...yessir...yes. Ok. Malipala is what she wants. I think Malipala is a great choice. I also think Impabu is a good choice to. Either Chevy Malipala. Or even the Crubu. Or Impuze. Or the Cruzala. Or the Malimpuze. Malimpuze is the best one prolly.
