  1. You would be right....the Envision was never planned here. But then SUV/CUVs made a comeback as better gas mileage and lower gas prices...... And where it built depends on what it is. I expect the lower margin compacts to head to Mexico....that is a no brainer. I do expect the money makers to be built here though...and not other places. (In most cases) In this case, if the Envision does well, it it be built stateside anyways.....
  2. Wonder if GM might be too hungry...still waiting to see how the nearly 30k hatches are going to do. (keeping in mind most will be loaded LT or Premier trims) Being built in mexico, and with the Focus hatch still starting under 20k-should be interesting. While I love the car, 26-30 for a compact hatch? While I'm not thrilled about the chinese part of the Envision, if it comes out successful it will US built pretty quick. I think Buick needs to be careful here....be bang for buck....and be careful not to jump to caddy price wise.... If they feel they need to charge a little more, give folks a reason and something different, like a Grand Sport model or something.....
  3. The XT5 is only six inches longer and starts at $4K more. That is not "basically the same price". It's no different than the "less than different from each other" C Class and CLA ( and no I am not talking about price). +1 If it were a chevy, I'd say yes. It's pretty much what a buick should cost...
  4. Okay, I'm not one to get too involved here...but you folks are way off on different planes here-one side wall street, and the other side industry....(and we're not even taking about the Envision anymore either...) Either way, you're both WRONG. It's about the cars, and global demand. The Envision is here because it is being TESTED (from the Chinese market). I have a feeling it will do great here, and there are already plans to build it here if it is successful. This is the MAIN point. Nothing else matters... *runs from the rain of hate I am going to get for sticking my nose/opinion is this...*
  5. Congrats Reg! Love the color.....
  6. This is good to hear....just saw one yesterday.....look simple, but nice. Will have to drive one myself.... This gives me hope for the new Nox too....
  7. Fusion inside looks better, hands down. But if the Malibu really wants to play with the big boys, then it still needs to dangle a carrot to steal from the "import" boys. That's where the 1LT needs to offer that bang for buck. They need to get those butts in seats, so the praise it does get from folks gets spread around.....and more folks into the showrooms as customers.... Don't give it away, just make sure it is lower......
  8. Interior still needs some work..(and space) A little extra value will help, but there still will be some discounts in there to help....
  9. Nice review....and we are thinking along the same lines here. Inside just doesn't do it for me. It really does scream cheap, this after me driving a brand new accord for a few grand less! This, and they lost much of the bang for buck they offer as well....other makers are offering more for less.....
  10. sunshine
  11. If that is the problem, than build a bunch and send some overseas.......
  12. It's premature to assume these things until we see what it comes with standard. "It should be noted that the hatchback isn't offered in the base L or LS trims like the sedan. The more apt comparison would the Cruze LT sedan which begins at $20,695. Comparing the prices of the LT models sees a difference of $1,495." You're definitely right but that sucks that you're again forced into a package if you want a hatch. A lot of people like the added space and ability of a hatch and you have to pony up a few grand more for Chevy's as opposed to those others listed. Not everybody wants or can afford the creature comforts but need the space of a hatch. Agreed....in my case, I just don't need all the toys. Heck, I miss the fact that the Focus hatch used to come with steelies in base trim (Roads here in MI are really, really, bad) I had a cavalier wagon and I was quite fine with that. The hatch should be a choice, not a luxury option. Heck, for a few grand more, I might as well get a Nox then.... Get the feeling GM will get burned here.....
  13. Have not seen one yet...
  14. That's a bit much.... You would think they would make these in L and LS trim, as small businesses would use them (think HHRish)
  15. I can see it doing maybe 10k...
  16. Upgrade should be quite cool.....
  17. It's an old school trend coming back....but instead of wagons, we call them CUV/SUVs.... Sedans will drop and bottom out a bit, but they will be fine. It's not like the 90s wiped out small cars because SUVs were big and gas was cheap.... It's also going to help if they learn to drop the price a little....it's gotten a bit carried away over the last few years. This is the reason why you see trucklets like the Compass and Patriot (along with the Journey) selling so well...with the discounts they are priced pretty nice! In the current plan, I'd just drop the sonic sedan, and keep the Cruze a good mix of sedan/hatch. The Trax, new Nox, TB, and Tahoe will all do fine....
