What about a early 90s Cavalier? Those J body's tend to hang in there, are good on gas, and are pretty cheap to pick up. Friends of ours picked up a 92 Sunbird for 650 bucks...it's their "around town" car...

I drive compacts (Cobalt and Cavalier), and my commute isn't bad-so I'm not sweating the prices yet... the new job is farther, but not too far away.... I still plan to dust off the bike though...

Good point. Much of that is true, though this is one of the the UAW's biggest bonehead moves ever. There is a good chance that this will cost GM big. Instead of getting small cars to build after the trucks go away, GM is going to find other places to build. Like Mexico. This is going to be quite sad.
