  1. CarDomain recently sat for lunch with GM car czar Bob Lutz, and one of the topics that came up was the ever-vanishing manual transmission. Lutz explained that modern automatics are no longer the less efficient option by default, and with CAFE dictating so much nowadays, carmakers can actually lower their fleet average fuel economy more by going with automatics that can be programmed to deliver maximum efficiency (as far as the EPA is concerned, at least). He then went on to state that there will be manuals available in both the Camaro and the 2009 Pontiac G8 GT, which gets a 6-speed unit from Tremec. So if you waited on Poncho's new muscle sedan, your patience will be rewarded. Of course, your patience will also got you a price increase too, but at least those dopey digital auxiliary gauges will be gone, as well. Source: Autoblog
  2. I liked the Trax myself, although seeing both in production would be sweet (and a smart move since that's where the market is heading).
  3. We knew the Chevy Beat was making an appearance in the overly-named Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The new news is that one of its "triplet" siblings, the Chevy Trax concept, is joining it, as you can see above. The two are chasing/following Bumblebee down Philadelphia's Front Street. Proof of GM's new commitment to building more smaller, fuel-efficient cars, you ask? Eh, well, as you may remember, Trax and the third triplet, Groove, were not slated for production like the Beat, so this is (unfortunately) probably just a movie special. At least one Autoblogger is happy, though (raises hand), because Trax is the one he voted for last year. Transformers Live Action Movie Blog wonders if the Beat and Trax might be portraying the Autobot "Twins" in the sequel. Sacrilege? Well, if the movie Bumblebee can be a Camaro instead of a VW beetle, there's no reason Sideswipe and Sunstreaker can't be Chevy-branded "world cars" instead of twin Countaches. If that turns out to be the case, though, it does kinda make one wish Lambo paid to be part of Michael Bay's party instead of Batman. Source: Autoblog
  4. Government Cover-up!
  5. O v O
  6. I rreally do wanna go but money is super tight right now...(when is it not?)
  7. We used to have a 600 sedan...I always thought it was a neat little car. It looked a lot bigger when I was younger though! We still have the wheels to it somewhere in the garage.
  8. Me too, I want one or both still, but I dunno what their fate is.
  9. Good luck with that, my dad sold them both to his brother so mom couldn't sell them, but only the `70 is in his name. The `69 is both of their names, so when she finds the title, things are gonna get more messy.
  10. The Acadia is the current best seller among the Lambdas if I'm not mistaken. However it has no brand identity, GMC has none at all...just the logo. So you could slap any other logo on there. I liked the idea I think Camino tossed around about reducing the rands to one or 2 models, and 2 or 3 brands would create a complete lineup.
  11. That's because most of us aren't corrupted by money/power/politics.
  12. I hate those things...they are so repulsive.
  13. I can only hope Chrysler can pull it together. Maybe Project D will be the next k-car...but you know, better.
  14. What this boils down to is that Saturn will loose the very last shred of uniqueness it has left, it's dealer network. All you have to do to think which brand should go is think of this: cars > trucks. Who has cars? Pontiac. Who has trucks? GMC. Who has no unique product at all? GMC. Honestly, I think it's a good time to be a Ford fan. They seem to have a much better idea of what they are doing.
  15. Looks like ass. It's not even a decent copy.
  16. ...because people aren't smart enough to look at the signs and check the lanes themselves?
  17. Patience, it just came out, so naturally it'll take a little time for ad-ons and programs to update accordingly.
  18. I hope the replace it with something good. i want the Fiesta (although it would be cool if they call it Verve for our market), I don't want this.
  19. Awesome. You can't go wrong with a timeless classic...it'll still look good 20 years from now.
  20. How can you scrap the Overlap between GMC and Chevy? Everything GMC sells are rebadged Chevies. i would rebadge the Sierra as a Silverado though...looks much nicer. GMC and Hummer should be up on th list. Pontiac may in limbo because they don't know what to do with it, but they sell cars, and that's what people want now...not trucks.
  21. Just to add fuel to the fire, apparently CR ripped the Aveo a new one, and called the Cobalt, with similar fuel economy, better interior and exterior as well as packaging, and a price gap that more or less vanishes after incentives, a better car.
  22. Funny story about that. My mom was actually afraid to drive the car. She said it was too big and such...which is baffling because she drove the bigger fan no problem. She said the longer nose made her nervous. Well with the rental gone, and with my girlfriend not wanting to play taxi 24/7 my mom finally was willing to drive the Intrepid. Jessica took her out for a spin yesterday, and apparently mom complimented how well it drives/rides/handles. I'm like...well duh. The pig's empty. I have about $350 now thanks to car insurance and some things that had to be paid...so no money for sexy car.
  23. Like a couple others here you completely missed the point.
  24. hah, cool. You learn something new everyday.
  25. The new interface is sweet. However, there's still no "create a new tab button" like in IE 7....that is the one and only thing I like about IE 7...but I still never use it.
