not really... fleet has been down all along the GMS and Red Tag... so its nice to have it back...also GM sometimes makes more on Fleet because Fleet doesnt get the huge incentives... Retail is cheaper often times for the customer.

remember... 1/3 of all grand prix are GXP... that means people are loving those V8's... and fleet sure isnt going to be purchasing any V8's... the Grand Prix, is a nice car, very nice when its fully loaded... and all the pontiac advertising is getting people to the dealership to notice the GP...

DETROIT (Reuters) - Detroit's traditional Big Three automakers on Wednesday reported surprising increases in January U.S. vehicle sales, breaking losing streaks that began in the fall of last year as their aggressive discounting lost steam. Both General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. cautioned that their outsized monthly gains came from a one-off surge in fleet sales, while their retail sales declined in the traditionally slow month. Sales to rental-car companies and other large-scale purchasers such as government agencies are generally less profitable than sales to individual buyers. Even so, the stronger sales tallies were welcome relief for both GM and Ford, which are struggling to turn around their unprofitable North American vehicle operations. The two largest U.S. automakers, hit by issues ranging from changing consumer tastes to rising costs for raw materials, have announced plant closings and layoffs. GM, which last week reported a quarterly loss of $4.8 billion, said U.S. sales rose 6 percent in January, powered by a 30 percent jump in fleet sales. "I would describe the month as pretty good, solid ... and where we expected it to be," said Paul Ballew, GM's executive director of market and industry analysis. Ford's sales rose 2.7 percent, while sales for the Chrysler side of DaimlerChrysler AG were up 5 percent in January. Japanese rivals Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co. Ltd. , meanwhile, posted double-digit sales gains, and both said their January sales were best-ever for the month. Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. , however, saw U.S. sales dip 1 percent, its fourth straight month of decline. MORE FLEET SALES GM said its retail sales were down 7 percent. Ballew said GM was targeting a 10-percent decline in sales to rental companies over the course of 2006, calling the January tally of 85,000 rental sales "a one-month aberration." One important pocket of strength for GM in January was its new Tahoe SUV, which saw a 53-percent sales increase. GM is banking on a series of redesigned SUVs and pickup trucks, many of which have yet to be launched, to stem its sales slide. Crosstown rival Ford said fleet sales rose 21 percent. But Ford's new mid-size sedans -- the Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, and Lincoln Zephyr -- continued to gain momentum, the company said. The sales results for the new mid-size sedans translated to an annual sales rate of 220,000 units, well above Ford's original estimate of 190,000, the company's chief sales analyst George Pipas said. "I think these cars have yet to reach their full potential even at (that) level," Pipas said. Overall, Ford's car sales increased 18 percent. In keeping with a continuing trend, sales of Ford's large Expedition SUV declined 30 percent, while its mid-size Explorer was down nearly 23 percent. Both GM and Ford have relied on mid- and full-sized SUVs as profit engines since the late 1990s. But those vehicles, especially from the aging lineups offered by GM and Ford, have become less attractive as gas prices hover near record highs. U.S. automakers track economic indicators, including job creation and income growth closely in forecasting sales and production. Their results are watched in turn as an indicator of current economic performance. The sales declines for the traditional Big Three corresponded roughly to the slower growth in the fourth-quarter posted by the U.S. economy. Gross domestic product slowed to just 1.1 percent annual growth in the fourth quarter, little more than a third of the third quarters 4.1 percent growth.

look at that picture, now where ever you see the wood trim, its not there... see the trim around the vents... thats what you get... or at least something similar to it... its better then the old ones, but the wood grain really makes it worth while
-
haha i was hoping the new one would respond after all its a repeat...
-
i dont really know... my dealership is down about 30%...last year we sold 310, this year about 210... but we dont sell anything fleet...
-
well you've got to understand the most expensive part of a vehicle is the research and design... the 06 tahoes and suburbans and trucks are basically based off of a 92 design... the interior never really changed either... so you are talking a 14 year old refresh... the design costs are long since been paid for... that is why huge incentives are possible... but the new one... is woth every penny, and people up themselves, no one wants to pay for the LS when a thousand or two more they could have wood trim, and just thousand or two more they could have leather, and heck just a few more thousand you can have heated seats... you do that enough times you've got naviagion on your 46k$ road warrior

lol i dont think so... but i was refering to what auto brand...
-
no problem... but if we are going to hit this subject... again this question was already asked, and answeredToday honda uses a phrase, "best of all its a Honda" what brand used that phrase first?

Honnestly it makes business much harder... the reason the msrp's stay a little inflated is to keep the banks happy... for those of you who trade with negitive equity and dont put anything down might understand what im refering to... lets say for example... you own a 04 tahoe, you owe 25k, but its only worth 20k to the dealership... so thats -5k now say the new tahoe costs us 31k, and we are going to sell it for MSRP of 34k... well we've also got to finance the taxes... so maybe 38k out the door... and also we want to finance the negitive equity, we will be at 43k... the bank no way will finance that much, so we will discount the car a little bit, say we even sold it for invoice... we'd be sitting at 40k... with an msrp of 34k... thats 17% over advance... you need pretty good credit to get that, not the greatest but you've got to be probably 600+ but, if MSRP was 31, where we accually sold the car, and we are still financing 40k... thats a 29% over advance... you need to be in the mid 700's for an advance like that... sooo... it keeps the banks happy...

its also nice to see the car line up a lot... saturn is up... pontiac is way up... hummer, doesnt really count
-
same here... i'm liking... yea 53% up... but yukon sales are down... not really sure why

-
chrysler... in the early 80's i think... we've had this question before i think...
-
currently the LS starts at 34... your right, but the product isnt fully out yet... what is rumored is that the 4.8 LS will be a definite "Stripper" model, and might hold a tag as low as 29k... but fuel ecconomy will suffer as will power. also payloads will suffer on the 4.8 but the MSRP is what you pay, there arent any discounts there arent any rebates.
-
personally i think all cadillacs and buicks and pontiacs need to be rwd... saturn saab and chevy can have the diverse ones... but give me the rwd for the primum brands
-
none of them will be until 2008... perhaps the escalade will be the latest entry...
-
just 1? wow... :'( we've got over 80 in stock but thats probably because we are #30 on volume dealerships nation wide... and 75% of our business is silverados and tahoes...
-
escalade doesnt share the same plant...

Well, its obvious that Buick is trying to go back to the refined and premium vehicles that they once made. going back to the luxurious and styled vehicles. and just a second ago i was thinking, what cars will be in store for the future buick? and if Buick changes peoples perception, enough so that people will buy them. what is their perception? so basically what i am questioning, is what type of cars should buick be making? always Buick has made full size sedans. Always. Buick has catered to people who desire comfort. well... why does Buick only offer full size sedans, or maybe the lacross is a midsize, but no compacts? what does GM have to compete with the IS350, most people who buy that type of car arent going to be racing it anyway, so why doesnt Pontiac and Buick share a delta sized rwd car that buick has the style and comfort and pontiac has the exciteable performance version... would a compact sedan work for Buicks image? or future image? i dont want to see a compact under cadillacs name... so it must go esle where...

its a very good system much better then toyotas, much cheaper too... it should improve fuel ecconomy by 20% according to what i've read... so that would likely increase fuel ecconomy to 19-26... if its 20% exactly... which it might be better or worse. but that would be applaudable if they got city mileage in the 20's, would make people think twice about a toyota...

Tahoe hybrid = 2008 MY...Saturn green line vehicles = 2007 MY...
-
it would be 30 years before GM would even see anything of benifit to that... but... no companys these days offer good retirement program...
