I guess thats my question... What would it do to us as citizens... how crucial is GM to our ecconomy? Would the crash of GM make things similar to the great depression? or worse? What would it do for us as citizens? What would todays dollar become without GM? What would the world be like? If the US ecconomy collapsed, we wouldnt be the worlds largest automotive industry any more... That would financially hurt many other countrys (japan & germany) and one bankruspy would probably send the other two US automakers down the same tubes if Americans stopped buying cars in the same portions... when will the government step in? hopefully before its too late...
-
Well, looking at Delphi... looking at UAW... looking at GM's north american financial situation... At what point is it a better financial decision for the government to aid the domestic automakers? The question, when GM, Ford, or Chyrsler file for Bankrupsy... how much will it cost the governement? How much will the unemployement tab run up? If the governement must foot the bill for 1 million employees that used to be making 60k a year for the last 15-20 years, how much will it cost them, (us Citizens)? How much will it cost the government(tax payers) to release GM of all its debt? I'm assuming we are talking about nearly 500 billion dollars might barely cover it all... just for GM... If they were to go bankrupt... And if that were the case, the Domestics started going under... then what realistically can we expect to see of the ecconomy? inflation? taxes? At what point is it a better financial decision for the government to aid the domestic automakers? And at what point is it too late? Where is that turning point Is it now? Is now the invenstment time the government needs to step in? or is it already a lost cause? Has GM been sleeping for too long, that they have already failed in the public's eye?

but if in one month GM isnt #1 in america... what will happen after that? GM is pushing to sell probably around 4 million this year... they cant stop now...

one must remember in september 04, atleast to my fellow salesmans recolection there was the introduction to 72 months 0% financing... september and october of last year were blow out months, just like june and july... but no one has any 05's left... inventorys are filling back up... but still with running hits like the HHR... people cant find the one they want... all we have right now are lame rebates... sure rebates are discounts... but they arent exciting... Toyota is "Keeping you moving" well at least trying to, while we are offering "you pay what we pay"... advertising must occur and it doesnt need to have any money involved in it... Money talk belongs in the box, at the dealer... not over the radio or on billboards... thats when it shows desperation... when a salesman starts talking price out on the lot... hes either stupid, or hes getting desperate, he wants your buisness, and is willing to cut his throat for it... incentives must be the product... you remember when AOL would give you a 200-300$ discount if you purchased a 2 year contract when you bought you computer... do you see the post office offering sales on stamps?(hope thats a good example)

Newbiewar replied to CadillacCTS's topic in Cadillac
well my friends STS has the "Keyless Access with Push-Button Start"... so they should also have that... -
looks like a magnium coupe... lol... :puke:

lets wave our flags proudly :Toyota: , but lets not fight about it... If Northstar says something is unexceptable, perhaps you should listen... Try to use another author's work if you prefer not to be critiqued...

on that note, he will push someone at gm for some damn good PR...

this is true... if the 2 billion falls to .5 billion, then where is he then? still a billionair? most investors say, if stocks drop 7% to pull out and take your losses... some might say 10-15% but 7% is a still eaisly retained... kirk is loosing money by the minute and I bet he isnt happy about it....

ohh yea... I just bought an 02 Trans Am last week... one of my coworker said i ought to have got a lexus... I guess Horsepower isnt in his book...
-
so a luxuary car is based on hp? I timed my friends 3 series bmw and got a 22 second 0-60... that was a luxuary car... it felt great, it felt fast, it handled great, but it was slow as hell...

GM loses yet another advantage... They must only play price wars... you know if GM introduced 0% financing 72 months... the cars would fly off the dealership, and GM isnt losing a dime, where as the GMAC is taking a hit... GM would create another lending company if GMAC was spun off... but in all likelyhood if the two were to split, will be face down waiting for a kick in the back...

Well if you thought September was bad... October is only getting worse... Sales are never gonna see 2004's totals... What kind of incentives would it take to get customers to flock in... 0% intrest? 10 year warrantys? 5-10k$ off of every vehcile? what will it take to get some vehicles off the dealership... the customers are used to it... they will expect nothing less... so why stop incentivies? if GM offered a 10 year bumper to bumper & 10 year powertrain... wouldnt that set the bar and let people know GM is a serious contender? no incentives would be needed... then GM would know exactly what problems their products face so they could fix them... that would truley be Americas Best Warranty

i think i need a dictionary...

i like the sound of this report... and what it says is accuarte... like the Kappa its designed to be a low volume vehicle... but due to its export to europe it might see sales of 90-150k a year and definatly if they can integrate the nomad you could easily see more, that plant will reach capacity... and if they do the Tru-Flex thing where they can manufacture any vehicle at any plant, GM can really do a number on the competition...
-
let em strike... replace them indefinatly... THere is a point in which the Union doesnt represent the employees to its fullest... and that point is now, the point in which they could be without a job...
-
perhaps it needs a more agresive or more sports like style rather then a box with a theme...
-
the problem with this car is that it isnt front page magazine material... thats why we all see it as a lackluster value... but people buy Ford GT's and Vipers... so I think it might have a spot in the competition...

women h3 drivers? thats awesome...
-
gotta see it to enjoy it truely... those pictures suck compared to what they really look like... saw the denali and the tahoe at the Anahiem convetion center... and what a beaut they are...
-
unless you are transporting water or sand the HHR has more interior space... to second that... my co-worker just picked up a Cruiser for 9k and tax... so thats cheaper then an aveo... no wonder they are such great sellers, Chyrsler is giving em away.. i remember hearing a jeep dealership saying if you bought a jeep you could get a Cruiser for only 3k... so you got 2 vehicles...
-
i've heard a bunch of people on this board, and at work say 3rd quarter... about august or september... as most usual next year models start to show up...
-
they were complaining about health care... try child support... man, if my kid cost me 11 billion i'd be pissed... BK for GM as well...
-
NoNoNoNo... The only reason its hot is because its in demand, supply and demand... keep supply limited so people have Chevy on the brain... I'm gonna be pissed the day we have 35 of them lined up on the roof and we cant sell a damned one... maybe keep it at 100... although these HHR's are quite useable, where as the PT was just kind of a fasion car... HHR's are more practical... Again I'd like to see an HHR photoshoped pickup truck with like a 2 foot bed or something lol... a mini Avalanche... lol

i understand its ur opinion, and i'm not your average joe but... when I work, I pride myself at being the best, no matter what it is... i've just gotta be better... if i'm a cashier, i'll give the promptest most sincre service, and if my efforts arent noticed, i start to slouch... and i'm like wtf am i working so hard if my employeer doesnt care, (i suppose this is your money thing)
