  1. you know last night i was looking at the tail lights and thought they appeared round at the bottom but i thought it i was the brush. i didnt even pay attention to the vent window
  2. o teh no's i gots to save them! hehe the first is indeed a 70, but the second is heartbreaking. my sig picture weeps to see another 69 languish as such. there is very subtle differences in the 69 and 70. they changed the tail lights and the front bumper and grill. there was a guy that went to the local tech school with me he had a 70 350 impy custom coupe. we used to go round and round bout which was better. custom coupe or sport coupe. parked beside each other a lot cause we knew we were careful with big ole honkin car doors hehehe. the 70's have the vertical tail lights while the 69 is horizontal. i am digging the enviro-friendly top on the 69 though heheh.
  3. the jag doesnt know that though, it only sees this
  4. Quiet You
  5. might i direct your attention to this travesty. can you honestly say there was no negativity at all in that 24 pages of mockery?
  6. we actually have a 1996 buick century that my grandfather left us, and because its a decent (not something i would want to drive a lot) car i find the century quip mildy offensive due to personal interests hehe.
  7. pontiac just called, they said to tell you they were kicking out GTO's G8's and the solstice and they got the axe to buick chinese democracy if you will. as the old tag line goes, this isnt your fathers buick. tell me, how is it not my fathers buick? whats different? buick isnt going to the ball because it will break a hip doing the charleston. i like buicks, dont get me wrong, but i havent seen one i wanted since they stopped making t-types.
  8. well my guess was wrong, looks like maybe 77 with the optional 5sp?
  9. we just lost one of the few remainin WWI vets. 113 yrs old. Goodbye to a hero: World's oldest man WWI veteran Henry Allingham dies aged 113 a generation from a conflict is about to leave us guys. pretty soon we are going to be looking at the last of the WW2 vets. The things that have gone past this man's eyes would be an amazing tale. i think i may track his book down.
  10. 73 cutlass? http://www.hemmings.com/mus/stories/2005/1...n_feature7.html http://www.hemmings.com/mus/stories/2009/0...n_feature6.html
  11. my ex girlfriend in high school's car was a manual mandated by her father. she couldnt have an auto because everyone should know how to drive a stick to him. he is a South Carolina State Trooper btw.
  12. hmmm. well animal cruelty charges stand in good favor with me. things like this are premeditated. countless studies have shown that the most malicious vile serial killers started out with rabbits, cats, frogs, whatever. my reason for standing behind them is because while not a person you know how you should and shouldnt treat an animal. especially a domesticated animal because they are ususally dependent. my question for people apathetic to animal cruelty laws is does this seem right? i have about 5 things that piss me off quick. probably the top 3 would be disrespect for others property, child abuse, and poor treatment of animals. i am not in PETA by any means but people know better than to throw a kitten in the oven.
  13. at least junior johnson's run in with the law was cool... running moonshine in souped up hot rod mercs. thats cool. freakin meth... the ingredients alone turn my stomach, but hello? you seen what it does to people?
  14. possibly. the gas station it was at was on the north bound 85 ramp. i didnt see the tag or permits on the truck though. the possibility of another lone caddy fleetwood riding caboose on a bmw train is long odds.
  15. hehe maybe the people who stole it are the "PETA" people of the automotive world. they rescued it from the torment and returned it to its natural state. but for the money one could have a wide variety of vehicles to equal that one waste of cash...
  16. there was a pic on jalopnik the other day that had 693 WAY hehehe
  17. yeap, and then the people who watch this on the net see it and think "wow they really dont care do they?" wonder how many are thinkin that this very minute... bet a lot more than 10 right? in all honesty those 900 people convince just 10 people to see it their way and thats 9000 vehicles that just didnt find buyers. retail is a very very heated battlefield when it comes to word of mouth. when i worked at office depot, we had a store meeting based on "give them the pickle". then it was something like 1 in 5 people would tell about good service, but 4 in 5 would tell about a bad one. found this on the web just now. 84% of adults who had a negative experience indicated they would inform others, up from 74% in 2007 and 67% in 2006. http://www.rightnow.com/files/analyst-repo...pact_Report.pdf
  18. personally thats how i have thought the company should have been running. albeit a little stone age, most car buyers expect the same experience as going to best buy. "what? you dont have what i want in stock? fine i'll go somewhere else then." DSFD505 ordered his ranger from the ford dealership... had everything he wanted and nothing he didnt, for the most part. when was the last time anyone besides the government was allowed to order exactly what they wanted? that is a huge way to cut unnecassary costs. over abundance of product costs money just sitting there. I printed off my order form from the website of what i wanted my colorado to be and instead they "found something comparable". didnt even want to talk about ordering. When my dad went to go get his 94 z28 he wanted to order it but the dealership was scared he would back out while waiting the 6-9 months for the car. he was willing to pay a deposit on the car and all. he finally settled for a red t-top z from NC but really he wanted a hard top z. sometimes i wish he had held out for the latter.
  19. more of a fan of the pre 70 models... something about that squashed lookin front end. the 69 is much cleaner... but then again its whats just behind that front end that you want anyway.
  20. id go for the 49-53(54 1/2) 3100's my dad lovingly restored a 50 over a 7 yr period of time. he wanted to restore the 53 5 window with the 50 3 window for parts but alas the 53 was too far gone for his first try. the 50 wasnt much better but there is nothing for those trucks that you cannot find if you need it.
  21. A man killed Wednesday while apparently involved in a street race in Hercules was a San Francisco sheriff's deputy, a sheriff's department spokeswoman said. Christopher Walker, 23, of Antioch, had worked at the department for two years, most recently providing security at San Francisco General Hospital, according to spokeswoman Eileen Hirst. Before that, he worked at the San Francisco County Jail. According to Hercules police, Walker was racing a red Chevrolet Camaro against another car when he crashed into a light pole on Palm Avenue, between Sycamore Avenue and the state Highway 4 on-ramp, at about 2:30 p.m. The other car, which left the scene of the crash, was described as possibly a newer model, four-door, silver Nissan Sentra with paper dealer plates, according to Hercules police. Walker, who was alone in the Camaro, was pronounced dead at the scene. Hirst said Walker was a third-generation deputy sheriff, whose mother is a sheriff's lieutenant and grandfather was a former lieutenant. Walker left behind "many friends in the sheriff's department," said Hirst. "He was a very well-liked deputy and a very good deputy," she said. His family is planning a private memorial service. Hirst said it was not known why Walker may have been involved in a street race. "Because we're not the investigating agency, there's very little that we know at this point," Hirst said. It does appear that both vehicles were involved in inappropriate behavior," Hercules police spokeswoman Michelle Harrington said today. "We do have one witness that was able to provide the description of the Nissan Sentra, and was able to say that they were speeding," Harrington said. Harrington said the witness, however, was not able to identify the driver of the vehicle. But because the crash area can be seen from Highway 4, there may be other witnesses, she said. Anyone with information on the Sentra or its driver is asked to call Hercules police at 510-724-1111. Copyright Bay City News http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/SF-De...Race-Crash.html
  22. there was a guy here in town that had a red one like mine, cept his had a white interior and a saddle colored vinyl top. not a good combo in my mind. i saw these over the weekend
  23. that is the sickest most vile thing i have heard in a while... makes me want to go on a road trip and visit the irresponsible party. my dad and i were having a discussion the other day about the fact that these cars for $1500-$3500 now are cars that would be simply passed up 10 yrs ago without thought. the fact that people are digging deep into more forlorned vehicles i guess is mainly due to the fact that the OEM and aftermarket is providing the needed metal to bring em back. this was brought up in a column by terry mcgean here http://www.hemmings.com/mus/stories/2009/0...n_opinion1.html its an interesting read, especially since he cut up a 1970 ss 396 chevelle to restore parts on his 1972 ss 350 chevelle which he whole heartedly regrets.
  24. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_B-17_survivors http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B-17#Notable_B-17s verrrrry interesting reads there. the one about old 666 there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B-17#Notable_B-17s video there too from Dogfights on the history channel. my gal sal has a very interesting story too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Gal_Sal_(B-17)
