  1. A great man who will be missed. It was always a pleasure to talk to him, and yes he certainly did brighten up that chat room.
  2. 71. You grabbed your Blackberry to find out what foreign language "Buick" was from.
  3. Well, I figured I better give Ven a little company out here in the lonely Northwest... :P
  4. Part of the question is, "What is default, and is it acceptable?" The easiest way to create said windows is to work with a default opaque window and apply electricity to orient the molecules into the clear state. Which means that if electricity to the car fails or just to the window...they will default to opaque, not a safe thing on a car. It is possible to do the other direction, but I believe it is not possible to achieve the entire spectrum...much less you are talking a highly significant cost. And do you really think the NHTSA is going to approve it? Or how about the states that do not allow tinting over a certain specification?
  5. I think you may need to look at the Ridgeline for an answer to that question. I finally saw one in person the other day and it was more ugly than I had thought before. That short stubby hood and stubby box don't do much for a truck...
  6. Now, I see some of you understand how this works and some don't... Since GM is a publically held company...the shareholders elect a board of directors... This board of directors has the sole responsibility of protecting the interest of the shareholders and generting profits to benefit said shareholders. The Board of Directors have the primary job of choosing a CEO to represent them in the day to day operations of the company. The CEO is responsible to the BoD to generate the profits that they desire...the CEO is the one who assembles the rest of the company through the chain of command.
  7. I'm just going to put down the two top of the list ones: VenSeattle: For heavens sake...we live 15 miles apart and haven't yet talked in person. Fly.....just so I could get some specific angle shots for Gary Coleman comparisson... :P
  8. Washington has some special rules... There is no such thing as a classic plate, we only have Collector, Horseless Carriage, and Restored. And yes, if you use any of the above, you cannot use your car as a daily driver...

    WTF?!?!?!?

Granted...it is 54 degrees outside right now... But we have only had 1 day of rain so far this month... Now, granted...we are looking at a couple days of light rain this week later on....but this is the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. :)
  10. Thank you very much Kris for finding this... Though does anyone else from that first shot get the Intrepid vibe from this car? That hunched forward with a high rear end look?
  11. Happy birthday you two... Oh and Ven doesn't have any SoCal weather unless it's cloudy and has a chance of rain... :P
  12. Last I checked, large was being used to describe a segment of mid-sized cars that are on the larger end of the spectrum... In the same way someone might call a car a luxury mid-size...it's perfectly vaild. Especially when you have had cars like the Accord and Regal both classified as mid-sized...and since everyone is going to insist they are...I would definitely describe the Regal as a Large Mid-Size in comparisson to an Accord...since the Accord is a compact in my eyes.
  13. Ah, but that's the problem with the old bulky type phones, the new slim ones fit just fine in your pocket and you don't need the belt carrier anymore which is typically the cause of the drops at places of business. And as far as phones go, I am still planning on getting a Nokia flip once it comes time to upgrade again. The functionality of a Nokia is far superior to any other company, and to combine it with the flip aspect...wins my vote.

  15. That does remind me of a story...I had gone home one weekend instead of staying there as I typically did... Well, the entire school ran a fire drill on the Saturday during the weekend at 5 AM in the morning and wouldn't let anybody back in any building for over 2 hours while it was also an Earthquake drill........there were reports of poeple telling others that they didn't care if someone had to be at work by 6 AM somewhere, they didn't need to go back in the building for anything (like clothing other than bathrobes...lol). Apparantly after that point, they decided that entire campus drills like that just weren't going to work.
  16. One inverted AU every light year. :P *EDIT, if I don't mention that's a joke...someone is going to take it too seriously and think I didn't use what I used intentionally.... <_<
  17. *Alpha goes to sneak out and get shots of Ven driving his Prius around Seattle.... *Alpha then realizes that it would just be one Prius in a sea of Pri'i and Subarus... *Alpha goes back to bed... :P
  18. *Insert random FlyBrian joke involving Gary Coleman*
  19. "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle." - Sun Tzu
  20. While I have more info, I may as well share it... The V3 2nd Generation is actually out there, with the 1.3 MP camera, larger outside screen, only available in bronze color...it's a mild upgrade to say the least... And yes the CDMA RAZR is due out sometime here...one of the first high end phones to be available in both GSM and CDMA... So Verizon fans will finally have a phone that is decent...but I'm sticking to GSM and Cingular...nothing can beat it right now.
  21. To think of it, when I was shopping for the Regal...I ran across one that at first looked great... $8k, 1996 with all the new goodies of the last revision of the car, all black, tinted windows, 50k miles... I thought I had hit a dream car...until I realized two things, I didn't fit great (I would have lived with it for a fully loaded ETC)...and the AC was literally non-existant (in addition to a few of the toys not working like the sunroof). In the end the car didn't even make it on my list, but it was a great idea at least.
  22. I've seen that ad on TV...very effective and definitely cool. While I disagree with the Odyssey being the Van my parents wished they had....the commercial is great...
