  1. I am so sorry. I really am. I hope you get it fixed soon.
  2. These cars and this brand were very popular when I born: You had a line up of all successful cars with a distinct brand character and all were performance cars. Grand Prix:
  3. Walt, Here is your answer: Envoy XUV - gate must be down for 4x8 sheet. Interestingly, my previous vehicle was a '95 Roadmaster Wagon and with the seat a good ways foward, it would swallow up as many sheets as you cared to load and then you could shut the gate a 4x8 sheet of plywood will just barely fit in an avalanche, same for a suburban/yukon xl. I once had 15 sheets of 5/8 drywall in my yxl with the gate closed. good thing for air springs. why not get the truck you want and buy cheap flatbed trailer for the rare times you need to haul something big? I hear the avalanches rattle a lot from a lack of structural bracing. I almost bought one when I got my yukon. glad I didn't, it's nice having 7 seats. and there are few things that won't fit in my 5x8 enclosed trailer. I had 2 4x8 pieces of plywood in my trailblazer. Back seat down and the plywood stuck out the back with the hatch open only alittle bit. I did not use my trailer cause it is snowed in behind the garage. It was one of the coldest days but it was not too bad with the back end opened. We got good heaters ! from here: http://forums.trailvoy.com/showthread.php?p=889117
  4. Congrats on your new home and your move. I am glad that you will get your own place and that the family is getting settled in at this time. Happy Birthday and congrats on your cars milestone.
  5. I am not on Facebook. Due to the line of work I am in, I do not want students chasing me down and trying to friend me and I do not want people period in my personal affairs. I have nothing to hide, but I do not want students bothering me outside of the university. I also do not want or need people I used to know or know trying to find or look me up. I have nothing to hide.
  6. I posted this in the Pontiac section. enjoy GM Truck Guy 74 and Trinacriabob http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDaKHBKYXiE

  10. In new ads, Ram truck stands alone Bradford Wernle Automotive News -- March 29, 2010 - 12:01 am ET DETROIT -- A new advertising campaign this spring for the 2010 Ram Heavy Duty pickup features the deep, resonant voice of actor Sam Elliott and celebrates the Dodge-like manly American pickup virtues of toughness, utility and durability. But nowhere in the campaign is the word "Dodge" to be found. That's just as Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne wants it. Marchionne is trying to rebuild Chrysler Group around strong brand identities. Last year he decreed that the Ram brand would be separate from Dodge in the same way Fiat and Fiat Professional are separate brands in Europe. Marchionne said the change will give Dodge more room to establish an identity as a car, minivan and crossover brand while the Ram brand can increase its recreational and commercial truck business. Skeptics have argued that Chrysler is weakening an icon by divorcing Dodge and the Ram pickup. American truck buyers long have chosen among Ford, Chevy and Dodge, they argue, and Chrysler is throwing away decades of brand equity. Falling sales Ram marketers have their work cut out for them. Ram brand sales dropped 31 percent in February compared with February 2009. The full-sized pickup segment rose 7 percent in February. Also, Chrysler is dialing back incentives that were as high as $3,000 per heavy-duty pickup a year ago. A $1,000 rebate is available through April on the heavy-duty Ram 2500. The ad campaign was created by Ram's new agency, the Richards Group in Dallas. A central element will be the Ram HD's most prized honor: the 2010 Motor Trend magazine Truck of the Year award. The Richards Group filmed five TV brand spots with the truck showing off its capabilities under heavy loads and in heavy weather. Fred Diaz, CEO of the Ram brand and also Chrysler Group's lead sales executive, said, "We'll spend the lion's share on media and advertising and a minimum on incentives." The Ram brand, which now includes the Ram and Dakota pickups and the discontinued Dodge Sprinter, accounts for about a third of all Chrysler Group shipments and revenues, he said. "It is a mainstay of the corporation, and we will not back down." Marissa Hunter, head of communications for the Ram brand, said Ram wants to improve its heavy-duty share in areas in which it has been weak, such as pickups with gasoline engines, for example. Ram also plans to add nameplates, some fashioned from Fiats. Road trip In addition to TV and print ads and a new Web site, Ram marketers are taking their heavy-duty pickup to 33 venues. Diaz said separating the brands gives Dodge "space to play." Those buyers who still want to call their trucks Dodge can be proud to do so, Diaz said. "This Ram truck is always going to be a Dodge," he said. Each truck will carry a Dodge vehicle identification number. "But you will never see it marketed as a Dodge Ram." 11. Spied: First images of 2012 Chevrolet Malibu 03/26/2010, 6:13 PMBY DREW JOHNSON A leaky patent office gave us our first look at the revised 2012 Chevrolet Malibu, but our spy photographers have just sent us the first live images of the updated sedan. Riding on a new Epsilon II platform, the 2012 Malibu is expected to make its official debut in late 2010 or early 2011. Judging from the latest images and the previous drawings, the 2012 Malibu will retain many of the design cues of the current car, albeit with a fresher look. The front headlights appear to have a jeweled look, not unlike the treatment seen on the 2011 Buick Regal. Chevrolet’s signature cross-bar grille, however, remains front and center. The rear of the Malibu also appears to be in line for an update, with the taillights receiving a Camaro-like treatment. It’s been reported that the Malibu will shrink a bit in its next iteration, but the extent of that downsizing remains unknown. The current Malibu rides on a 112.3 inch wheelbase, but it remains to be seen if the Malibu will adopt the Buick LaCrosse’s 111.7 inch wheelbase or the Regal’s shorter 107.8 inch wheelbase, although the former seems more likely. Both the LaCrosse and Regal ride on the Epsilon II platform. With a 2012 model year designation, expect the new Malibu to bow at the beginning of the next auto show season – in either Los Angeles or Detroit – with an on sale date sometime in 2011. http://www.leftlanenews.com/chevrolet-malibu-2012.html That car looks shorter. It now looks like it is equal to a Buick Regal in size. Apparently the current one is more LaCrosse in size although it too is shorter than La Crosse. That car has to be between 188-191 inches long. The Chevrolet Celebrity from the 1980's was a 188 inches long. The first W bodies were 188-192 inches long. They were wider. I think the wheelbase makes it appear shorter, but I bet it is 188-190 inches long. That car is going to be sold in other countries too. That is why those taillamps have amber turn signal indicators.

  13. Go Olds! where the action is!
  14. I am personally a fan of the last generation Bravada. I like the looks and the interior and features( I have it on video) despite the analog gauges. To me it was the Ninety Eight or Eighty Eight of suv's. I had considered one, but was put off by the gas mileage. It has so many wonderful features. The thing I liked was the front end styling because it reminded me of Ninety Eight and Eighty Eight. This is only one of the few ways I can tolerate bucket seats in a vehicle. Have the recall work done and have it checked out. That price is about right for a 2002.
  15. It is sad, but I think it is great that they are doing this. Some how, this makes it all real.
  16. Sudden acceleration complaints on Toyotas nearly doubled in two weeks 03/18/2010, 5:31 PMBY MARK KLEIS In what may come as little surprise to many, a new report suggests that the number of complaints of unintended acceleration on Toyota vehicles has nearly doubled in the last two weeks. Many of the complaints come from owners of vehicles that have already been serviced by Toyota in adherence to recent recalls – raising questions about the cause and offered solutions. According to a report by the Associated Press, NHTSA’s reports of unintended acceleration by owners of Toyota vehicles have nearly doubled in the last two weeks. NHTSA’s most recent data shows 105 cases of unintended acceleration, and jumping from the 60 reports as of March 4, 2010. NHTSA says it has been in direct contact with the owners who have filed complaints, noting that it has found “several instances in which a dealer made mistakes in applying one of the recall remedies,” according to David Strickland, NHTSA administrator. NHTSA has not disclosed details on how the repairs failed to fix the problem, and Toyota has not yet commented on the increase in complaints. Complaints suggest the problem is outside of pedals and floor mats “I went in for the recall and it seems there is a worse problem now,” suggested a complaint regarding a 2008 Toyota Tundra. The owner went on to suggest, “I truly believe this is an electronic problem.” Complaints like these raise questions concerning both the validity of the diagnosis and proposed solutions to the problem, as well as whether or not increased attention to the subject may be the source of increased perceived unintended acceleration. Whatever the cause, several drivers remain convinced there is a problem with the vehicles’ electronics, creating a problem for Toyota – whether it is based on a physical problem, or a perception problem, Toyota will still need to find a way to address the issue. Breaking report suggests “NY Prius” accident was driver error Adding what appears to be a concrete example of driver error being attributed to unintended acceleration, a new report by Fox News suggests that the Prius which slammed into a wall in New York apparently did not have any brakes applied prior to hitting the wall. The investigation is still on-going, and should be complete within a week. 2007 Camry owner gives a detailed account of his multiple experiences Another driver, John Moscicki, of Lake Oswego, Oregon, told the AP that his 2007 Toyota Camry suffered unintended acceleration five times prior to having his floor mat modified during the recent recall. Moscicki went on to explain the details of an occurrence on March 4, after his vehicle was treated for the recall in which his Camry accelerated out of control, yet again. “It just went to the floor like some other system had control of it,” said Moscicki, who, according to the AP, also raced high-performance sports cars and previously owned a Porsche restoration business. Moscicki also explained that when the vehicle began accelerating from a standstill on the freeway – up to 50 mph – Moscicki was able to stop the acceleration by shifting into neutral while simultaneously braking with his left foot and prying the accelerator pedal away from the floor with the top of his right foot. Moscicki’s account suggests that the pedal itself moves during the unintended acceleration event, much like how a pedal will move while utilizing cruise control if additional throttle is applied. Moscicki told the AP that Toyota sent out a field engineer that was unable to find any problem with the car. Moscicki had originally planned on giving the car to his college-age daughter, but now says, “I wouldn’t let her anywhere near this car.” link: http://www.leftlanenews.com/sudden-acceleration-complaints-on-toyotas-nearly-doubled-in-two-weeks.html
  17. Strong points Future Of GM. Oldsmobile would be the innovation brand once again, and the place where new GM tech is used first. Oldsmobile would have very "American" looking cars with very "American" features. It would be a near luxury sedan that fills the spot that will be vacated by Lincoln Town Car(Ninety Eight), a near luxury coupe or 4 door luxury coupe(Toronado) that shares its interior with the Ninety Eight( think 1971-1976 Olds) a mid sized convertible/coupe( Cutlass) and Custom Cruiser sport wagon( Holden wagon). The emphasis is on style, looks and technology and innovation. This would be the only GM brand where you could purchase a car with a bench seat. That is it. No more other cars, crossovers, or suv's. Leave that to other GM divisions. The Pontiacs would be rear drive sharing the chassis with Holden, but follow Pontiac history. You would have Grand Prix, Bonneville, and Firebird. The smaller Cadillac ATS platform could create a new Grand Am. Pontiac would be Europe world class handling with a heritage of American muscle and affordable. No trucks, crossovers, suv's etc. No of this overlaps with the other GM brands or products they offer.
  18. In total agreement!! You have no idea. That is why I only post the news and do not say much. What is worse when people attack something you say and really in all honesty, they cannot speak for you, but for some odd reason they think they can and think they are so right and they are not.. It happened to me.
  19. Congrats to you sir!! I am so happy for you. You drive your Envoy with pride.
  20. Loved that response! I found this someone wrote on another site.. WHAT GM SHOULD HAVE ... What GM should have been... Chevrolet- Mainstream Pontiac- Mainstream performance and slightly more luxurious (think poor mans BMW) Oldsmobile- Technology driven near luxury but quirky (kinda like Saab) Buick- Stunning, timeless, and beautiful upper-near luxury to luxury cars (think Lexus but with personality.) and of course.... Cadillac- Standard of The World... It is kind of funny, but this is what GM is doing with the four brands they have... I would not say Oldsmobile should be SAAB like, but the rest of what he stated, I agree with. Oldsmobile to me would be the technology driven near luxury brand, but all American in character and style. They would be the only GM brand to offer a car with a bench seat and those things associated with American cars.
  21. I understand. We will have to see.It is kind of hard for people to believe after getting burned by GM for so long. GM has to do a lot of winning people back and winning people over. I hope Oldsmobile people are not left out or forgotten either.
  22. I posted this in the Toyota section this morning. It is a better copy also.
  23. Update: Texas high school gets to keep using Ram logo by Chris Shunk (RSS feed) on Mar 10th, 2010 at 4:28PM Remember a couple weeks back when we told you about Chrysler's improbable legal battle against little Lake Mary High School in Florida? Chrysler's legal team put the smack down on the school for using the Ram logo as its school insignia, and the law jockeys in Auburn Hills, MI were giving the school until June 15 to remove all instances of the logo at a considerable cost to the school district and neighborhood taxpayers. It appears cooler heads have prevailed at Chrysler, as Allpar is reporting that the school and automaker have made an agreement that allows the school to keep the admittedly perfect-for-a-football-helmet logo, at least until wear and tear requires their replacement. The reported agreement stipulates that the school must declare its partnership with Chrysler on signs stating "Lake Mary: Proud Partner of Chrysler." We think Chrysler should also sponsor the prom and provide a 300C stretch limousine for every senior. C'mon, think of the good will! When we originally told you about the legal tussle between Lake Mary HS and Chrysler, we were more than a little critical of Team Pentastar for its legal action against the small school in a town of 15,000. It wasn't because Chrysler didn't have every legal right to protect its trademarks, but rather making a school district pay lots of money to remove a logo when it wasn't really damaging is just bad PR for a company that can ill afford any more bad PR. Compromise can be a very good thing, and it's nice to see that the folks at Chrysler see that. Good people of Lake Mary, Florida: feel free to continue purchasing vehicles from the Chrysler group. link: http://www.autoblog.com/2010/03/10/update-texas-high-school-gets-to-keep-using-ram-logo/
  24. Really? I know all about. I do not have the VIC( visual information center) in my Toronado. I do have a rare option package called ISB. It gives you the other options, plus a bench seat, digital gauges and more. The only thing Trofeo has over me is VIC and power seat recliners. That is wonderful your friend has that car.
