  1. OK, wasn't sure what you defined as a production car....in terms of volume...
  2. So that brings us to car #7... Studebaker completely absorbed Packard...and Packard was out of production by the time the Avanti came out...#7 is an Avanti... Avanti interior...always liked these as a kid...
  3. Datsun was independent when the first Z car came out...having fun with this...early 70's 240 Z... 1931 Reo Royale....
  4. 53 Studebaker Starliner... Tesla model S P100d....that would make # 1 and 2... Caterham is independent, Caterham Lotus seven would be #3...if it were to be allowed...but that like the factory five is kind of iffy as a production car....hmmmm Lotus Elan for #3 then... Mazda is now independent, having separated from Ford, so #4 is an easy shoe in for a new 2017 Miata...
  5. Given that dealers are taking fifteen grand over sticker for one of these....a little tempering might not be a bad thing.
  6. Tesla easily counts... Panoz would not count as a production car...hmmm...
  7. Oh, wow, interesting.... So what about a continuation Avanti....Studebaker merged with Packard in the 50's before it went bankrupt...but then the continuation cars were built by a small independent company. Also, what about cars like the Factory 5 cars that are built by an independent company but are essentially kit cars?
  8. ...and people are not really talking here about how good the chassis set up and tuning on this car really is. Honda knocked it out of the park with this car...
  9. I suppose I could surface lumber in my woodworking shop with the nail file from my daughters makeup table...just because something could be done doesn't mean that it should be done that way. Especially in a vehicle that will sell to people who will traditionally want a V8.
  10. Can I ask a really stupid question...why are we spending two pages and two days complaining about a really nice SUV that will tow almost 9,000 pounds and will also run to 60 in well under 5 seconds and run the quarter in twelve flat? And people are actually complaining that this doesn't come with a 4 cylinder? What on earth am I missing?
  11. The opportunities are fantastic here...someone shooting Sergio AND an exciting new Ferrari for us to enjoy. What's not to like?
  12. I still like the GC, but would not kick this out of the garage in the least.
  13. Also, Musk is one gutsy guy...i would not want to count him out... https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/innovations/wp/2017/07/07/south-australia-could-soon-be-powered-by-an-enormous-tesla-built-battery/?utm_term=.7622e355ebe1
  14. As well he should....dollar for dollar the GC is probably the best SUV on the planet.
  15. The TVR and the Esprit are both cars I just love...you could ahve made this 60 cars and I could quite happily fill all 60 slots.
  16. Getting back to cars for a minute...I love the pentastar with the automatic... I think emotionally what you want in a car is for it to be on the bleeding edge of technological development....mentally and emotionally. I think what I want is for cars to be much more like a figure skater on ice or a ballet dancer-light, nimble quick, responsive... Unfortunately for both of us, car makers have to live in the real world and build vehicles for the average buyer. Ford, bless their hearts, kept a dated platform around forever and a day under the Lincoln and Ford Crown Vic...and they made a kings ransom selling those cars long after the development budget had been paid back. GM did it and does it, Benz does it...it's fine if you want the bleeding edge of technology...but that is unlikely to move an average car buyer...and that is exactly what everyone short of Rolls, McLaren, Lotus, and Ferrari is selling to.
  17. I can see your point...I have been married for 29 plus years, with the same woman for 32. there does come a point with certain people sadly where they just don't belong together. Personally, I think there are two key things...learn to fight fair and make sure you are friends and not just lovers before you get married. I believe that divorce is sometimes necessary, but really sad....
  18. Wife: 'What are you doing?' Husband: Nothing. Wife: 'Nothing? You've been reading our marriage certificate for an hour.' Husband: 'I was looking for the expiration date.' Girl: 'When we get married, I want to share all your worries and troubles and lighten your burden.' Boy: 'It's very kind of you, darling, but I don't have any worries or troubles.' Girl: 'Well. that's because we aren't married yet.' Also A wife asked her husband: 'What do you like most in me, my pretty face or my sexy body?' He looked at her from head to toe and replied: ' I like your sense of humor.'
  19. Here is your chance to have the Pennsylvania RR K 4 in a dream car garage...or a fleet of five motorcycle if you wish.
  20. Awesome! I did not mean that question as a threat. Actually enjoying your enthusiasm for Benz and am attempting to learn more about Mercedes. Never realized how many we had on the road until I started looking around here in Columbus.
