  1. You have a higher income and higher expenses than most here, this is actually highly rational.
  2. Yes you do...I like him also....there is also no one I dislike at C and G.... ...and I might have given a rational response to the Trump thing in his trolling when i posted the democracy now link. He is very selective at what he responds to when presented with counter argument and evidence....
  3. This is an excellent list. The Miata and 4 runner are excellent products at the top fo their respective categories. Both should outlive humanity properly cared for....
  4. People are inherently afraid of change, but the safest and most rational thing is to embrace change, as it is part of the world, always has been a part of the world, and always will be a part of the world... So to embrace change is in essence to be a reality addict, the very thing I love about the ancient Greeks! I would rather imagine than fear....we need to get back to the 1950's and 1960's, when science and change were openly welcomed with confidence...now THAT would make America great again....
  5. See, just when I am convinced this thread is going to be a cesspool of infinite depth you go and write something I would upvote by a hundred if I actually could. Please see my above comments....this is not about either or.... Still, you touch on a really critical point. This goes back to the pride in Ford discussion we had in the election thread and the corporate leadership and culture discussion we had in another thread. Our domestic automakers both have really good corporate ethics, and are building fantastic products. Part of corporate ethics is building products people actually want, and GM and Ford are both doing that more so than they have at any time since the early 1970's IMHO. Building products people actually want to buy is part of the Ford/GM obligation to stockholders, customers, vendors, employees, the people that came before the current people and built the legacy of both corporations....and they are fulfilling this obligation in spades. But resting on our laurels would also be morally wrong IMHO. I am very pleased, and have been openly and publicly in support of....both the effort of GM and Ford in regards to electrification. And it is not just in Electrics that our domestics are leading... https://www.thehenryford.org/visit/ford-rouge-factory-tour/highlights/living-roof/ Something Ford did that I was very impressed with.... And good luck to the Redwings, my friend/adversary from north of the border...! Have a fantastic weekend.
  6. I think the best response here is Greek in nature..avoid false dichotomies. Why can't we have both cool electric vehicles and cool ICE vehicles? Dfelt loves his Trailblazer SS and his Escalade, Suavailant wants a large luxury car, I raced cars for years, was involved with the SCCA and the Porsche Club of America, among others...worked as a pit crew member of a race team...Drew has a vintage Olds Torando...the people here who advocate for electrics also love internally combustive machines just fine. Give me a 49 mercury, please! Not to mention that I want a WRX for my next car, not exactly a Tesla 3 or a Prius....
  7. Ad hominm is not a form of argument, please embrace your inner Greek and engage in rational debate. Enjoy the Monkeys on a Friday morning...I am enjoying watching the monkeys fling poo in this thread.... Agreed...!
  8. And I think give it a year or two and you will find very good deals on gently sued Cruze models with the hatch....
  9. Automotive Nirvana for sure....
  10. 15 minutes ago, TaurusSHO said: Good to be back, but things seem a bit slow here. Yes they are...
  11. In so many ways it seems like we do the dumbest things possible. You have both made some good points, there is not enough face palm for the situation...!
  12. Or a fantastic vintage car from Cadillac's past. Benz has built some gorgeous cars in the past, but never in their most orgasmic wet dream did Lexus, Infinity, Acura, BMW or even Audi build anything like the 50's and 60's Cadillac convertibles, or for that matter the Cadillac's of the 20's and thirties. Cadillac has hit high water marks no one outside of Benz has. Yes the Continental mark II is a fantastic car, and the 60's era Continental is fantastic, but Cadillac has cleaned Lincolns clock from a historical perspective, and it is not even remotely close. My critique of the Cadillac electrical issues and the other faults they face is because I want them to survive and thrive to the point where they start building that type of car again. Because no one else on the planet will. And anyone reading this who thinks some other company will step in and build the kind of stuff Cadillac is really capable of....is delusional and needs to stop lying to yourself.
  13. Would gladly rather own a CTS or ATS myself.....CTS is the hottest car built by either of them actually. Would take an Acura TLX over an MKZ, and would gladly take a C class over a Continental.
  14. He's just upset that Ohio state beat the team from the mistake on the lake, Michigan..... There is no actual warranted argument against EV's in anything posted by the individual, don't even bother to engage.
  15. My sidewalls are not the only thing that lacks stiffness....
  16. One thing in the favor of VV's is we have not seen a reversal of demand, rather demand has grown steadily and persistently. Better a slow, rational transformation than everyone on the band wagon all at once and then the technology disappoints. Personal computers were slow to catch on at first also....!
  17. People have stupidly short memories in this country...and I forget what else I wanted to say....browneis...I think I wanted a chocolate brownie....
  18. Seems like you have a pretty good grip on things... I guess we all need to worry about going soft in the morning.... I do auto crossing some times. But then I drop it back down for on road use. I see your point...but he could have bought a Mirage....or a large SUV....or an FCA product.... A ten thousand dollar car that may well IMHO hold better resale than the PT Cruiser or dismal Sentra you would have bought for eight....sometimes cheap is expensive.
  19. A couple of things might make Diesel gate actually helpful to VW. #1, if they get over the crappy E golf and build a better electric, and actually invest in electric technology, it may help them very much in terms of amrket position. #2. they need to step up and do in Canada what they have done in the US for dieselgate, but they should market themselves as having walked through the front door with the diesel thing. Because a lot of other people have been caught cheating (google Cruze Diesel and cheat) But VW bellied up to the bar and tried to walk through the front door in many ways.
  20. The SS is an interesting exercise in less is more. A hellcat might be fun at getting attention at a local car show....but pulling up next to a greasy spoon cafe in rural Kansas with the SS and ahving people slowly realize what it is would be loads more fun. Plus the SS in every detail feels so much more like a real car, right down to the difference in the click the seat belt makes when you latch it. Chevy, more than any other mainstream car maker, has its act together IMHO. Not that I am dissing Ford....I love the efforts Ford is making. Fiesta has a ton of options and packages, and is an attractive little car. Focus is dated, but still really competitive in a wildly tough segment. Mustang is in some ways the best Mustang they have built to date, and given the number of cool stangs they have done over the years, that is saying something. The Aston Martinish styling on the Fusion is aging very well IMHO, and will still look good ten years from now. And my ##$%% ## $%^ the trucks are wonderful from Ford also...who would have thought we would have a product like the Raptor? Very sorry in a way that the Chrysler/Plymouth?dodge that I loved as a kid is not longer with us....it started going away in the early 1970's and in some ways hasn't been back since. The K car might have saved them, but it isn't exactly a bright moment in American automotive history!
  21. Agree completely. Just glad VW sales are picking up, as are GM's and Audi. There are creative car makers with decent products that deserve our affection and loyalty....
  22. Exactly! A Subaru would be much better if one wanted a winter vehicle that was an import...ask the people in Colorado and Vermont...they should know. Even then, there are so many current production sporty cars that look much better. I could see this being an also ran.
  23. Neat.....I love EV's! And thank you for bringing us back on topic, sir. You have my respect!
  24. I hate cheap tires....I run Continental tires on both cars, and not the cheap ones either. Except that you can't get anywhere in this country without a car unless you live in NYC or downtown Chicago.
